He has not captured it yet, but it is likely that he will

Someone will probally catch it. It's down to May or Ash. It looks to be Ash but when looking at the pictures, it looked kind of wow-ish when watching May's battle. Which could mean, it likes contests.

And the main theory going is that Aipom has a D/P evolution.

Yeah, ok!
There's still a chance that "Aipom and the King" will get rid of the thing. There was a summary about the ep posted awhile ago, and it was about a group of villagers trying to find a new King.

Darn, actually it's almost confirmed that, by the preview pics, Ash will catch Aipom, that stupid purple monkey.I really prefer Ash catch weavile, on the episode 461.

Well....Aipom does seem to be quite strong in the preview, but then again.... It's a preview.

I just hope it's a "let's-give-Ash-something-to-do" thing during the GF and it'll all end in the Aipom and the King! episode. I really don't see any purpose for it being on Ash's team at all, except being the new Psyduck/Skitty with popping out of its Pokéball and steal Ash's hat and run off or something like that, and I really hope that's not the case.

Then again, it seemed quite interested in battles, so....we'll see.

I suppose this would be as good a time as any to mention that Aipom has been recently added to movie promotional artwork. It's floating around somewhere on Japan's pokémon center site.

Edit: Ahh, managed to stumble across it again~

Aipom does love hates. What does a King wear? A crown. Aipom could easily steal the King's crown, get mistaken for the king, maybe being another Aipom. Like the Meowth king episode with Pay Day.

I'm surprised that no one seems to have mentioned yet that Aipom may the BF version of the Snubbull which followed TR back in early Johto.

didn't Ash attempt to catch it in the eppisode that's just gone

[also by my Avvy you can see i believe Ash is gonna catch it]

Oh come off it, guys. Do you really think they'd put Aipom in a MOVIE poster and it still be a following Pokemon? To my knowledge, the crazy following Snubbull never made it into a Johto Saga Movie [though random Snubbulls did].

With the addition of Aipom to that poster, it's pretty much confirmed that Ash will catch the thing. Why would they go through the trouble to add a random Pokemon if it wasn't to be captured by the main group?

And what's with all the Aipom hate anyways? Does no one like the thing? Because I do. I think it's quite cute, and would be fun to have on Ash's Team, weither it be Oak'd or have a D/P evolution. Do people really only hate it because it's a weak Johto Pokemon with a hand coming out of its butt? As seen countless times [Sneasel? LUVDISC?] weak Game Pokemon make powerful Anime Pokemon. And Aipom has shown nothing of being weak as of yet.

Stop being so douched.

It won't be Oak'd. It would be utterly pointless to introduce an Oak'd pokemon when the arc is almost over. I'm betting on it evolving in D/P, cause if anythings crying for an evolution its poor Aipom

I own the 5th gen
I'll be fine with the thing, but the fact that it seems to know Iron Tail/Focus Punch (strong against rock, in any case), and it's being caught before the innevitable Jindai rematch has me worried. If it upstages Jukain, so help me god...

And I'm with every else, a D/P evolution is the only thing I can make sense out of this. I mean, Satoshi's getting a Jouto Pokemon this late in the game, and it's also a rather underpowered Pokemon (even if does get portrayed as being stronger than in the games, take note that it's a small Pokemon whose movepool only consists of close-range physical attacks, Swift being its only exception... plus, it's never exactly been portrayed as ultra-powerful before), hardly fitting of the juggernauts he's gotten lately, so the fact that he's catching it at this point, and close to the end of a saga no less, seems very perplexing.

On the other hand, maybe we should be thankful that they're not following patterns of giving Satoshi Pokemon from the current generations only (and several complain about the second generation getting the shaft). I would say that this now means his captures can unexpectedly come from any generation just as well as Haruka's can, but Haruka's a lousy comparison since all her first generation Pokemon are obviously Fire/Leaf/XD advertisements (and of course Gonbe, the D/P plug).

I agree with everything you just said. Aipom hasn’t done anything but people hate it. When Ash does catch it, I wonder how many people will continue to hate it? If it is powerful, How many people will call it “Uber?” Can anyone with the picture post it? I’d love to see the poster.

It's been apparent since Spurt came out.

Pikachu goes running into a forest. The forest explodes and an Aipom jumps out. It's clearly symbolic.

THEY ARE WRITING OFF PIKACHU IN FAVOR OF AIPOM. Oh, happy day. ^_^

^Ditto. I really hope that's the case. Anyway, Aipom suits Ash alot and I remember Snorunt might be annoying, stealing stuff and the like but it was actually quite fun to watch in the episode afterwards.
