Could not find a new Dragon Ball Z thread so decided to make one. With the new movie coming out 2015 which is Dragon Ball Z: Revival of "F", I decided that now is the perfect time to discuss Dragon Ball Z/GT/Kai etc. In here discuss the manga or anime or films of Dragon Ball Z/GT/Kai etc! Enjoy!
Also i'll start the discussion, What do you guys think about Dragon Ball Z: Revival of "F" coming out in 2015?

I actually just starting watching the original Dragon Ball today, (never fully seen it in my life don't kill me pls).

The Dragon Ball franchise from what I know of it seems cool, I'm enjoying what I'm watching of it right now. :)

Dagon Ball...

Starring Son Cthulhu!

But seriously, I am looking forward to SSG Goku vs. whatever the heck Frieza's new form is...

Toriyama is probably doing artwork on Dragon Quest XI (we all know it's coming, 30th Anniversary in 2016), but I want to see him back on the manga that made him famous. Time to slap GT right in the face. Show us canonical events after Goku left his family (SLAP!) to go live and train with Uub when he could have just adopted him for a while and gave his winnings to his poor family (DOUBLE SLAP!). DB's ending was so effing stupid and makes me really mad actually.

Anyway, lmao at the title, OP. You had one job.

I've been a fan for at least a decade and a half but I don't see what direction the series can take that would be original. The characters have been so overpowered and the villains so one dimensional there isn't really anywhere else to go. I think movies are all we are going to see from the series from now on unless an entirely new cast is introduced.

You can message a staff member to get them to fix the thread title, OP.

I guess you can say I'm a new fan if you consider 2010 rather recent. I had read the entire manga the summer of 2010 before I entered college. I was very impressed by it, though I didn't really get into the anime until DBZ Kai came on Toonzai (though I can't recall if it was 2010 or 2011). I did get the first two seasons of DBZ in January of 2011, and didn't get to complete the series until the end of August of this year, which I felt was a rather long time, partly because I'm not a very patient person, and also partly because the DVD box sets started becoming harder to find at Wal-Mart for whatever reason (though I guess it depended on the location). My brother and I ended up getting the rest of the seasons at our local Half-Price, and the findings were close together, so I was able to get back into the anime and even was able to watch all the DBZ movies. The release of Battle of Gods to theaters helped spark that desire.

I'm currently watching Dragon Ball, but it's been a slow watch, to be honest. I do like it, I just kinda have to be in the mood for the show because... well, I'm not gonna lie, but I can feel every second of the show each time I watch an episode. It's kind of irritating, which is probably why I don't sit down to watch it often, I pretty much have to make myself do it. Hopefully when I tackle Kai it shouldn't be much of an issue since I'd be familiar with what I'm watching. Yeah, I'll be watching GT at some point. I'm kinda anal like that.

I'm excited. *shrugs* I guess it's mainly because since Toriyama is involved with the movies it makes it canon (for once), so it'd be interesting to see where he takes the story further. This is mostly wishful thinking as I'm not sure if it'll happen, but it'd be great if the film got another limited theatrical release out here since the limited Battle of Gods run did well.

I wonder if the chance of seeing Videl visibly pregnant, if Pan hadn't already been born, is high with this film. I don't think we know exactly how soon after Battle of Gods the movie takes place, so that's my guess for now. I'm not sure what to expect with the movie at the moment.

I believe this movie takes place 3 years later so Pan would already have been born.

I found out the second I made the thread of the error I made, sorry guys. I have asked both moderators that monitor this area if they could correct my mistake so hopefully one of them corrects it.

Anyway in the meantime, I wonder if any of the other dragon ball Z characters will appear in this new movie? We know that Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo,Master Roshi, Tien Shinhan and Krillin are in this film but what about the rest? If I remember correctly when Bulma talks to Goku in the 10 years after the boo saga she mentions the last time they were together was 5 years ago which is the same time of Battle of Gods so could it be we wont see those characters in this film?

Unless they retcon it, Pan is 4yo by the time of the meetup 5 years later, so Bulma's birthday in BotG should be the very last time Goku meets Bulma until then. Pan should be around 2 1/2 years old by the time Beers and Whis visit Earth again 3 years later.

Btw, why did Beers talk about the multiverse like it's new to the DB universe? Future Trunks is already in one of these 12 multiverses.

Can we keep the title? I think it's still funny, especially if we pretend that all the characters are all Lovecraftian horrors...

Still hyped for FRIEZA!!! FRIEZA!! FRIEZA!...maybe some GINYU FORCE?

It's probably more along the lines of the fact there are other gods in charge of their own universe with some who are more powerful than Beerus and Whis (or at least Beerus)--whether it's because of age or what, my guess is that the older the universe is, the more powerful the gods. Thus, I think it would be interesting to see what one of these older universes look like and get a taste of their own history so we could see where the current universe all of Dragon Ball takes place in may end up in billions of years. I think where Future Trunks comes from doesn't count as one of the other multiverses because he's still from the same universe, just on a different timeline/dimension. Because if where Future Trunks came from is its own separate universe, then that would mean there are other Gokus out there, and thus he would theoretically run into "himself" if he ever exits his universe. I mean, it could explain how it is Future Trunks and baby Trunks could exist in the same plane and a disastrous paradox never occurs, but I think that only really works if any of the two Trunks were exactly the same person because they're from the same timeline.

TL;DR Dragon Ball fails at all science and physics and its denominations forever, everyone knows this.

Been a fan of the Dragon Ball series since I was younger, moreso DBZ. I'm excited for the movie because Frieza is my favorite DBZ villain. Battle of Gods was kind of a disappointment for me but hopefully this one is better.

Any word on the dub for the Buu Saga in Kai? They're just about up to when Kid Buu appears in the Japanese version so it doesn't have much left. The Buu Saga isn't my favorite part of the series but I'd much rather experience is dubbed. Oh, and I started watching the original Dragon Ball. I must have watched some of it as a kid but I honestly do not remember much. Haven't watched an episode in a while...

gohan design looks horrible...really a green jump suit and his haircut its like urggggggggg he always had the best design in dbz but now i hate his design

Soaring Pikachu

Cool Trainer
I would rank them by the order that I watched them in.

1st: DBZ
2nd: Dragon ball
3rd: GT (usually gets a bad rap, not sure why)

I think the reason no one liked dragon ball gt was because the way some of the characters were treated like piccolo dying and goku becoming a kid again. In the end I believe dragon ball GT is not canon anymore since Akira Toriyama said in an interview a couple of things that put it out of existence like the fact that super saiyan god makes goku not have to ever turn super saiyan 2 or 3 again. As well as the life of number 17 after the cell game.

Love Dragonball franchise, my first anime and one of my fave of all time. Holds a very special place in my heart. Battle of the gods was decent considering the hiatus they've had from making original content, hopefully the next movie will be even better :D

Teen Gohan at the end of the cell saga was a great design, they ruined him after that point.

The order they came out in is my ranking for them. Dragonball was original and so much fun, DBZ was more of the same, which was really great! the fight's dragged out a bit too long on certain times though. DB GT was just terrible for me, made no sense in the continuity of the season. Pretty much a reboot that failed to deliver.

interesting question if they reboot both dragon ball and dbz which animation studio would u want to redo the entire series?...lets face it their artwork is outdated and they dont have to drag out the fights since the manga finished...personally i would want either studio pierrot, studio mir, Ufotable, or my favorite Madhouse to redo the entire series
f.y.i im fine with how the original is i would just like to see one of my favorite manga/anime redone to match the quality of art today

GT was never canon. Toriyama did a few art here and there, but his manga ended with Goku leaving his family for Uub. GT IIRC was just a thing demanded to prolongue DBZ since it was still very popular at the time. And a reboot? GT started a week (2/7/96) after DBZ ended (1/31/96). How do you restart or revive something that has yet to die?

Dragonball Kai has already updated DBZ. It's not new, but just cleaning up the whole image quality of the show (updating the aspect ratio, removing damages and noice, etc). I've been watching DB Kai lately (Halfway through Buu saga now, Super Buu still in Kami's Lookout), and more and more it's making me want Toriyama to get back into DB. Maybe have it take place in one of the many dimensions, but I'd be fine if it just continues from where the last chapter stopped. Basically GT, but good and canon.

are we talking about a real reboot. If so it would be interesting to see how to include movies into cannon.
