• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Toppo seriously jobbed. HOW?

That aside, I still liked this episode, even if Vegeta should definitely have gotten written now, on a high note.

Hopefully the next couple episodes are Jiren slaughtering everybody, cause Im sick of U7's plot-armor.

Both 17 and Vegeta seem to be on their last legs. It would be interesting if the final two were Frieza and Goku working together to beat Jiren.

That was SO bad. Getting a homage to Majin Vegeta's sacrifice EXCEPT HE LIVES is the most fan-fic garbage. And we went from Toppo dominating 17 and Freeza, and Vegeta being set up for a sacrifice in the last episode to all of them being A-OK in time for the final battle against Jiren next week (preview shows Vegeta using SSB2, so there isn't even a lasting consequence). Speaking of Jiren, dick move insulting your team mate, bro.

Did Jiren really just pull a Paul on Toppo? We've never seen this side of him before until now, good to see Vegeta finally getting the proper shine he truly deserves so far but now he's drained, the others are on their last legs and Jiren has no scratches and still hasn't unleashed his full power, shame on Goku & Vegeta for not using fusion.

And thus, with Toppo down, the only opponent left to fight is a plank of wood.

...I mean Jiren.

You know, for a guy that got his kidneys kicked in (gonna whiz red) and knocked unconscious, Frieza looked pretty well off when he came back. Almost like it never happened at all.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. This 40 something minute time limit is the absolute worst part of this tournament and it should've been hours. Maybe even a whole day.

Every time the time limit is mentioned, I'm taken completely out of the episode because there is no way all that stuff happened in such a short amount of time. It'd be slightly more believable if everyone could fly, but only slightly.

And stop having characters be winded at the end of a big attack only to be using powers they shouldn't be able to in that state in the immediate episode. Why bother having them tire at all if it's not going to matter in the slightest. It ends up feeling like nothing but forced drama.

I feel like I just watched bad fanfiction, scratch that, this whole damn arc is bad fanfiction.

Dyspo got better treatment than this.

Jeez, this episode wasn't very good. The writing is honestly really jarring as if there's not much cohesion between episodes. How many times has Vegeta been pretty much been blown to unconsciousness already, only to stand up and continue as if nothing happened half a minute (in-universe time) later? Goku also does it, although he at least needs like two episodes to recover after Ultra Instinct. But Goku doesn't seem to be harmed at all by Kaio-Ken anymore. Vegeta is pretty much Majin Buu in terms of recovery rates right now. And he keeps on getting the same power boost over and over again for Cabba, a throwaway character he's only seen twice before. This arc is just getting as many cool moments as possible in and sacrificing writing quality and cohesion for it.

What the hell did I just watch? lol That was utter crap. At least Frieza is still around hiding and No. 17 probably says goodbye in the next episode.

Interesting practically nobody is defending the episode here. I'm kind of glad, shows this community has good taste.

I have seen defence of the ep elsewhere, besides the obvious Vegeta fans who think him getting a win is meant to be a big deal. The main argument is that it's a battle of philosophies, how there's thematic weight to Vegeta winning by holding onto his principles while Toppo abandoned his. It also provides a neat explanation as to why Jiren insulted Toppo beyond "we don't know what we're doing with this character, so he's just a jerk now". Supposedly, he was disappointed in Toppo for giving the Pride Trooper way or whatever.

While that's a good concept in theory, the writing was so amateurishly bad and Vegeta and Toppo had such little chemistry that it fell completely flat. It was just a bunch of characters talking about how they felt. What's funny is that episode 66 did this whole idea better with Trunks defeating Zamasu with The Power of Hope because that angle had been built up throughout the entire arc.

Im almost convinced that the original idea was to have Vegeta go out after the Final Flash on Jiren, and for Frieza to have been the one to take Toppo out. That's why none of Vegeta's scenes have any kind of cohesion with the rest of the story, or even with themselves.

Frieza had already been set up to fight a GoD after the stuff with Sidra, and it makes sense to pair up the most noble Pride Trooper and the most evil character in all the universes.

Freeza gets back without any permanent damage, like he's buu, in not even a minute after him being completely destroyed. Kawaii eyes vegeta thinks about what he has to fight for and toppo's destruction is suddenly useless (like his regular power without his pride wasn't enough to do that already). Jiren NOW has a resemblance of a personality and he's a douche. What else could go wrong? Too much flashiness and callbacks, too little substance or consistency. While not the show's biggest strength, i would expect at least a minimum level of consistency. And just look at that preview: Vegeta goes kawaii eyes again already and 17 can stand to jiren with his barrier for a little, instead of not at all, like he's supposed to. Let's see how they end this mess.

Oh, I liked the episode, despite the fact it looked like three episodes were compressed in one, but it doesn't bother me since I won't read too much into the reasons and just enjoy the ride.

The time is a factor too, since the things are rushed by the series' final lap. I think Gohan and others would actually have more to do if the things weren't that rushed, but I'm not criticizing the series because that since it's purely management decision. Considering all, I'm satisfied with everything DBS actually added to the franchise's history.

Kanto is love. Kanto is life.
This tournament of power has been crap since beginning... that's why I reverted to manga in hope Toyo fixes this..Since the moment where Goku and Vegeta knocked entire U9 in second episode I knew this tournament would give U7 a big plot protection. How convenient of U7 being the strongest verse out of all 8 universes.I don't care if they're MC's. it doesn't mean they need to have 4 people remaining on stadium against one after like 40+ minutes. Now it's 100% certain that U7 will win.
1. U7 knocked the most competitors
2.U7 will win now 100%.
That's awful. They're surely portrayed as Mary Sues which I don't like..

The main characters of the show - of the franchise - cannot, by definition, be "Mary Sues." That's not what the phrase means or how it works. They're simply overpowered - which, again, main characters; their faces are on all the merchandise - and you don't like it, which is fine.
