All those years..

All those years I've been pronouncing Flareon Flare-ee-on. According to the Handbook It's pronounced Flare-aa-on. Is this correct?

I've always pronounced Flareon the same way you do. 'Flare-aa-on' sounds really weird, and it doesn't make sense, since there is no long 'A' sound or whatever in the name, and 'eon' is NOT pronounced like that.
And you'd think the name would be pronounced the same as the other eevee evolutions. We don't say 'Vay-por-aa-on' or 'Jolt-aa-on', now do we?

Maybe they just made a mistake or didn't translate correctly or something?

I've been pronouncing it the same way too.

I don't think we pronounce it that way, like Aquarelle said it might be a mistake...

Probably a mistake in the book because I pronounce Flareon the same way as you do too. =/ A lot of Pokemon handbooks have errors in them of some sort so it's just likely that that's an error.

I say Flare-ee-on as well.

Yupp, watch the episode of the battling Eevee brothers, they say "eon" and not "aon"

If I get used to it, it's hard to change to proper name pronounciation. I pronounce Ludicolo lou-sid-lo! As for the eon thing, you're probably right with the translation error. Aon sounds....well, fairly stupid anyway. Eon over aon FTW!

I just saw an episode of Pokemon a few days ago...the one where May hangs out with that one mom from the MFP (Mothers for Pokemon?) and she had a Flareon and pronounced it as "Flare-ae-on." It could just be a matter of preference or the type of accent a character has that effects the way a certain Pokemon's name is said.

Either way, I always said "Flare-ee-on." X3

... it is Flar-ee-on isn't it? Or, at least, I hope so or I've been pronouncing names wrong for years... though chances are I'm been doing that anyway... darn strange name pronunciations!

I'm sure its Flar-ee-on. But if it isn't, it doesn't matter. I've been pronouncing Groudon's name wrong for years.

I'm not sure that those books are correct as I've seen pokemon books with incorrect info. It's best to just ignore the book. I pronounce it Flare-ee-on as well.

Well, it could be. It's in the original one as well as the special editon and the kanto one. o.0
