It's hard to believe that all those pokemon are available wild in Alola regions, just too many. I would prefer a dex same size as Hoenn's

Any speculation as to what the bat Pokemon will be in alola?
We had Zubat for the first 4 gens, Woobat gen 5 and noibat gen 6. So there must be a bat Pokemon right?

Well, there really "musn't" be a bat, as you said, we had Zubat for the first four gens and it will probably continue to be the annoying cave encounter from now until forever haha! Woobat was the fifth gen replacement, sure, but Noibat isn't really in the same league. Anyway, surely I wouldn't mind a new bat Pokemon, but it isn't necessary.

And we have Lunala already haha!

After XY's Dex, I'd say we're probably getting a big Dex again.

I don't see any issue with having a large dex. So long as all the Pokemon are put in good spots, a larger dex is frankly better for everyone since more people have a better chance of using things they want. Plus it offers more replay value.

Well Zubat should be in Alola at the very least considering we seen Team Skull members using them(Or Golbat at least).

Also, I'd say Gligar and Gliscor count as Bat Pokemon(Albeit, they have other things mixed in their design but they clearly have a good portion of Bat to them).

Then there's Lunala.

I'd have no issue if all the Bats are available this time around.

The main problem with a huge Dex is that all the old Pokémon tend to outshine the new ones.

Also, I'm pretty the other guy was referring to a new bat Pokémon (which we already have with Lunala).

Why would Game Freak make only two games for gen 7 and then move on? The anime series for Alola would take awhile so I doubt they move on to a new gen while the anime is still in Alola. There might not be a guarantee but it is still possible that we get sequels, third version or remakes for this gen. A generation with only two games is absurd in my opinion.

while I doubt they'll stick to only two, I'd actually prefer it if they didn't do the third version thingy, as I hate all the "move tutor only every other game set" nonsense and such. If I'm going to shell out $50 for a game, I'd rather they not take steps backwards on purpose just to try and give me a reason to buy another one that's not hugely different.

The problem is that it's a bit of a catch 22. Either we overload the Dex so that more Pokemon are available, or we all but enforce the use of Bank to complete the Pokedex. We'd probably need three games to spread the availability around without over saturating one of them; remakes are good in this respect because the focus is already on older Pokemon anyway, but personally I'd rather they not become regular fixtures.

That's only really depended on you though. Just because the old ones are there doesn't mean everyone is going to shrug off the new ones. I still had a team of all Gen 6 Pokemon in X, and I'll have an all Gen 7 team for Moon.

Not really.

DP had the Poke Radar for non-Regional 'mons as well as the Battle Zone, while BW had the Dream World and Eastern Unova. Both games had ~150 Dexes, yet still made a majority of older Pokemon available during the post-game. XY only does this via the Friend Safari.

I think the HA has a bigger impact on me for avoiding new pokemon than anything else. I want to play with the new pokemon, but if they end up having an amazing ha and I have to raise a new one all over again later to make use of it, it makes me really sad. I took a chance on froakie last gen and got screwed big time for doing it... I have yet to raise a proper froakie. Egg moves are similar, but at least with those I can stop and breed mid game usually where ha's can't even be accessed for quite a while. For ORAS I bred my whole team ahead in x y and I have the same now ready for sun/moon because sadness... though I may try raising a couple of the new pokemon in game that have really cool normal abilities like oricorio and salandit.

Although I prefer the pokdex style they had with BW where you use only the new ones, I have no problem with older pokemon in Alola dex especially when they have Alola forms.

I wonder if we would get a pokemon that is close to being a pseudo but isn't again? Volcorona was one example.

I'm hoping for 130 new Pokemon for Generation 7, bringing up an overall total of 851 Pokemon. It may be just me and my opinion, but I hope that happens.

This probably sounds weird to some people, but I know how you feel. I usually resign myself to the fact that an in-game team is going to be good for completing the storyline, and not much else. And then I breed my awesome competitive 'mons after completing the game. I did however love how ORAS gave you access to egg moves and hidden abilities in the play-through through the Dex Nav. They lent a lot of new flavour to the old Pokes that I really enjoyed.

I'm the same. In ORAS my ingame team was my game support pokemon. So a HM slave, pickup & Theft Linoone, and surf, fly and toxic Pleipper, a false swipe and theft Shiftry, a Flash, sweet scent and spread move Vileplume for Horde battles, A mega Swampert that knew Waterfall and dive and something I've forgotten. Everything else got trained aferwards.

However this gen without seemingly needing Hms, and no word on horde battles, my team is looking pretty empty. However alolan Meowth may find a spot as I love having a Pickup user on me to get rare items and them all so important Leftovers, Destiny Knots and PP-UPS. Plus being a dark type i'll give it Theft to steal wild held items. Then Toxic to help with capturing weaker pokemon. Just a shame it can't learn False Swipe! Please give that move more spread GF.
If not then Pay Day for some extra coins early in the game when penny's matter.

Most likely. We got a higher than 540 BST Pokémon in each generation since Gen IV.

Gen IV-Togekiss

Gen V-Volcarona, Archeops(whose average BST with Defeatist is actually much lower)

Gen VI-Florges

(Arcanine doesn't really count, since it got its current BST in Gen II).

Edit: What Wryteous said.
