Any speculation as to what the bat Pokemon will be in alola?
We had Zubat for the first 4 gens, Woobat gen 5 and noibat gen 6. So there must be a bat Pokemon right?
Well, there really "musn't" be a bat, as you said, we had Zubat for the first four gens and it will probably continue to be the annoying cave encounter from now until forever haha! Woobat was the fifth gen replacement, sure, but Noibat isn't really in the same league. Anyway, surely I wouldn't mind a new bat Pokemon, but it isn't necessary.Any speculation as to what the bat Pokemon will be in alola?

After XY's Dex, I'd say we're probably getting a big Dex again. It's hard to believe that all those pokemon are available wild in Alola regions, just too many. I would prefer a dex same size as Hoenn's

The main problem with a huge Dex is that all the old Pokémon tend to outshine the new ones.I don't see any issue with having a large dex. So long as all the Pokemon are put in good spots, a larger dex is frankly better for everyone since more people have a better chance of using things they want. Plus it offers more replay value.
Well Zubat should be in Alola at the very least considering we seen Team Skull members using them(Or Golbat at least).
Also, I'd say Gligar and Gliscor count as Bat Pokemon(Albeit, they have other things mixed in their design but they clearly have a good portion of Bat to them).
Then there's Lunala.
I'd have no issue if all the Bats are available this time around.
Why would Game Freak make only two games for gen 7 and then move on? The anime series for Alola would take awhile so I doubt they move on to a new gen while the anime is still in Alola. There might not be a guarantee but it is still possible that we get sequels, third version or remakes for this gen. A generation with only two games is absurd in my opinion.

Also, I'm pretty the other guy was referring to a new bat Pokémon (which we already have with Lunala).

The problem is that it's a bit of a catch 22. Either we overload the Dex so that more Pokemon are available, or we all but enforce the use of Bank to complete the Pokedex.
This probably sounds weird to some people, but I know how you feel. I usually resign myself to the fact that an in-game team is going to be good for completing the storyline, and not much else. And then I breed my awesome competitive 'mons after completing the game. I did however love how ORAS gave you access to egg moves and hidden abilities in the play-through through the Dex Nav. They lent a lot of new flavour to the old Pokes that I really enjoyed.I think the HA has a bigger impact on me for avoiding new pokemon than anything else. I want to play with the new pokemon, but if they end up having an amazing ha and I have to raise a new one all over again later to make use of it, it makes me really sad. I took a chance on froakie last gen and got screwed big time for doing it... I have yet to raise a proper froakie. Egg moves are similar, but at least with those I can stop and breed mid game usually where ha's can't even be accessed for quite a while. For ORAS I bred my whole team ahead in x y and I have the same now ready for sun/moon because sadness... though I may try raising a couple of the new pokemon in game that have really cool normal abilities like oricorio and salandit.

I wonder if we would get a pokemon that is close to being a pseudo but isn't again? Volcorona was one example.
