No, the summary said Ash returned at night to find Rockruff injured. The attack could have happened at night, or it could have happened earlier during the daytime. It depends on how long Ash had been gone.

The Gen 7 Pokémon are set to debut across Ash and his companions' travel's in Alola. It will be interesting to see when certain ones will appear. Pikipek has already appeared and Ash has captured every regional bird so far. I originally thought that he wouldn't but then as we found out that Decidueye was Grass/Ghost (which I hope Rowlet will evolve into eventually!) it wouldn't matter, as this wouldn't mean he'd have 2 Flying types.

No, there is no confirmation as to how long the series will last. That is determined by the release schedule of the games.

That doesn't mean anything. There were six spots for Gen VI games and there were actually only four.
