Am I the only one going through every possible effort not to see the new Pokémon

Am I the only one going through every possible effort not to see the new Pokémon

until I encounter them in the games?

I've disabled images on every Pokémon site I go to, and I have sigs and avatars off on the forums. Anyone else like this?

I'm the same way, though I haven't disabled images yet. I've blocked a number of images on the forums, such as the user rank banners, ad-banners, etc.. but never thought about blocking all images. I guess because I don't want them all blocked, just anything to do with the new Pokemon.

Back when Manene, Manyula, and Bonsly were still silhouettes, I tried my hardest not to look at them. The same thing happened with Tamanta, Buizeru, and Perappu. I vowed though, that after this, I'm not looking at anything else unless I absolutely can't avoid it.

I did this with Gold and Silver, as well as Ruby and Sapphire. It makes the games a lot more fun when you actually don't know all the Pokemon in it. I never really understood why news sites have to spoil it for everyone. I'd much rather them just say that some have been revealed, and give a link to them or something so that those of us who don't want to know, aren't forced into knowing.

But no, you're not the only one.

i think that they should make spoiler tags because i was trying to not see them but i gave up cuz there was so many pics and stuff but i wish you good luck on not seeing any but that is a good idea to block all images

Oh yes, because it is soooooo easy to place a spoiler tag on avatars. And really, why not just make your own spoiler free forums instead of complaining about what other people like? Yes, i know im a hypocrite.

That's a good idea... I might try to avoid them in the future. I never thought of that! Thanks.

How about making sense before posting? Nobody was complaining about anything that anyone likes. We're merely talking about what we're doing to stop from having the surprise of the games ruined. All I said was that it'd be nice if they linked to a page instead of just putting it out on the front page, but that's hardly complaining.

In any case, back on topic, I've gone through most of the site, blocking images using wildcards to predict what the images would be. Hopefully, this'll keep the suspense going at not ruin the surprise for when the game comes out later this year.

I did that last generation and it was definately more intresting but I couldn't hold up for another one.

I like to do that too. But I can't resist it! >_<; I will try to resist looking at the full list when it comes out, though, so that I can be surprised just a little bit.

No, we're not missing out on anything. That's the entire point. By seeing them now, we're ruining all aspect of surprise and intrigue for the game. I've seen all we have now, and they look good, with the exception of Manaphy.

But I'd rather not know what they are until I find them in the game. This way, everytime we encounter something new, it's a little more fun for us. We're surprised. We wanna know what it is. What type it is. All that stuff.

It's an element of surprise for us, and we'd rather not have it ruined by being forced to see them.

I don't care about seeing what the new Pokemon look like, since after all I find that it helps to get a feel of what this generation holds in store. However, come the time stats and whatnot are revealed to us bit by bit, then I'll turn my head. Right now all we know about these new Pokemon are their appearance, status, and typings; to me that hardly reveals anything about these new Pokemon. I'll stand to see this basic information, but when it gets down to the nitty-gritty I'll back off into my own little sequestered, sheltered corner.

To me, knowing what they look like is more of a spoiler than knowing their stats. I'd rather know nothing at all about them until I play the game, to be honest. It seems more fun that way.

Seeing stats are pointless to me, and spoil nothing. it's like describing something you can't see, like on Xmas, and you won't know what it is until you've unwrapped it and see it for yourself.

The stats are the most important thing imo. Everytime they reveal someones base stats, I will always be checking to see if it is a new Jolteon/Starmie/Aerodactyl/Blissey/Metagross/tyranitar/Snorlax/Salamence, etc. counter.

The stats are important for battling, yes. But I'm not talking about battling, I'm talking about the Pokemon itself. It's appearance, it's traits, etc.

The stats mean nothing to me until I decide that I want to use the Pokemon in my team. I go by favouritism, not by stats. If I like a Pokemon, I'll use it, no matter how "sucky" it may be to some.

I'm trying to, but it's hard when Joe plasters this info as the first thing we see on the main site. The fact that I mod this section as well just totally ruins the surprise, too.

I did this for G/S/C. I knew NOTHING about those games when they came out, which made them a hell of a lot more exciting and fun. With R/S, I knew everything, which ruined the surprise. With Emerald, I really didn't know too much, as I always ignored what Joe posted about it. Not intentionally, just meh. So, I learned tons of cool new things about Emerald. Funny thing is, I still am learning a lot about Emerald. I haven't discovered it all, which is making it a lot more fun than Sapphire.

Now that I think of it, perhaps does ruin the suprise. I've always found playing through a Pokemon game for the first time more fun than the 2nd, or third. But, I don't expect all the Pokemon to be revealed. There are bound to be at least a few Pokemon that were not revealed. Then again, I am ignorant to whether or not that occured with Ru/Sa.

Nope. Right away there was a thread in which someone posted all of the sprites for every single RS pokemon, including chimecho in its spot at the end of the list.

I'm sure someone's going to do the same for D/P.

as for me, the fun of the game is playing it. I may know some things beforehand, but to actually play the game is where I find the most enjoyment - whether or now I know things ahead of time: Case-in-point: Berry blending was really confusing for me when I started out. I read about it, but it took me a little bit to get it - as well as fishing. Contests are still hard for me, I have no idea what a star does, how to get it, or much else besides that.

So while I'm 'meh' with spoilers, I don't find them to detract from the game, personally.
