American better than Japanese?

I read on Wikipedia that for the first season people said it was better than the original. I watched the first episode and it sucked compared to the American version. When he was riding the bike the wild battle song was in the background. It also overall sucked compared to our version.

Bullsh*t. The American and Japanese version played the same music when Satoshi was riding the bike. They were on par with each other.

And WikiPedia can be edited by anyone.

It had the wild battle music in the Japanese version.
That was when the flock of Onisuzume appeared and chased Satoshi and Pikachu. He was ON FOOT. :)

It also didn't "suck" compared to our version. The battle music fit perfectly (as with the dub music) with the scene, with the flock of wild Onisuzume appearing, as in the games.

Is that track present at all in the Japanese series? Like in later eps?

Lil Brother

Just kinda there.
I don't know about that track, but the Japanese version has been using a ton of early Kanto music lately, probably due to the setting.

Don't trust Wikipedia with your life. The Pichu article once said the Pichu Bros. had a TV show on Nickelodeon. -_-

I haven't seen the first episode or any pre-AG episodes in Japanese (aside from banned eps) but I seriously doubt that the first Jap ep suck. It had Kasumi slapping Satoshi. It can't suck.

Aside from the occasional fixed error or beneficial edit, I don't really see how the Pokémon dub could ever, ever, ever be better than the original.

Uh-huh. So, are you going to explain why you think this, or are you going to leave us all gasping for air?
The only message I'm getting here is that you're judging an entire series by a single piece of music in one episode. Would help if you elaborate.

As for it being worse than what 4Kids used; I don't see how you came to that conclusion. Both pieces of music fit the scene, and both conveyed a feeling of urgency and danger.

They were almost the exact same, I prefer the Japanese version, Not as much puns..;x

I liked the old days when the Music was kept, but there was no real reason why they changed the music back in Johto...o.o

I just wish stuff was unedited period, but you'll never see that with any anime aired on TV here. Censors suck - and I hate the idea of "editing to fit in Time Slot" -_-;

TOTALLY AGREED. Well, about the bike part. The dub definitely had better music for that part. It was tense, and urgent... and the Jp. version just didn't have that.

But I enjoyed the Japanese episode. I thought Satoshi's voice was cute ^_^ But I also think that Ash's voice during the Spearow "I'm gonna be a master, and catch you all so come and get me" thing fit better than Satoshi's.

And Gravy, I disagree. I thought the Japanese music for that episode didn't fit at all. I sure didn't feel a sense of urgency =\

Of course it had the sense of urgency, both of them do. Plus, it's a good idea to use game music for that particular scene, since it gives the feel of wild Pokemon appearing (About 50 Onisuzume appearing all at once which hyped up the danger). It's actually the best game music to use for the scene.

I came across this clip about two months ago and I was suprised at how the old Ash voice and Satoshi's voice almost sounds EXACTLY alike.

I believe it's a matter of understanding the language.

But you see, the Spearow had already appeared before hand, so there was no point in using the wild Pokemon music for that scene, since they could have done it before. I just prefer the dub's music for that part, because IMO it made it more dramatic. I mean, I know this isnt Hollywood, but if you saw a blockbuster movie, I can bet ya that it would have more urgent music like the dub, as opposed to the other.

And really? I thought Satoshi's voice was higher.

But the danger didn't really appear until after the 50 Onisuzume appeared. It fit the scene much better than if the music began when they saw just one Onisuzume.

True, but didn't the 50 Spearow still appear before the actual bike chase? Cause in the dub Ash said "They're coming BACK." So they could have done it then..

But again, it's not a huge deal, cause what's done is done.

Uh, it was BEFORE the actual bike chase, as I already said. o_O At that point when Satoshi gets on Kasumi's bike, the dub and the original used the same music.
