Does anyone besides me like when a company goes out of their way to try and establish an American feel for the American adaption of the said animies? I mean I love Japan (;p) but sometimes I just don't like being bombarded by their culture when trying to watch the show.

I know it originated from there but things get changed in adaption, and if you don't like it you have subs/uncuts.

Am I alone? I mean I HATED Sailor Moon when they got rid of DiC, and I though it would be better.

Well, there are loads of telivision shows with an american feel, and anime is from japan, and therefore has japanese culture. It shouldn't be americanized and it takes away from a lot of good parts. Anime is awesome, but the japanese feeling just makes it feel more complete.

Super Milk-chan benefits the most with an Americanized dub (which CN chose NOT to air that but instead the translated dub).

Just about the only Americanized dub I liked that really isn't so much Americanized was Samurai Pizza Cats. Dunno about what's been changed in translation, but BoBoBo's dub is freakin' awesome.

Personally, I find it ridiculous when dub characters go about saying they could go for burgers, as if it's the only thing Americans eat when there's TONS of ethnic foods in the US. :s

I personally don't care if they americanize a BIT. However... If they go overboard... That get's annoying.

Like... In a series like One Piece... Which barely has any Japanese culture in it... I can deal with the occational "localizing" edit (such as the edit with Rika and her onigiri... Yeah, they shouldn't have done it. But One Piece really doesn't pride itself on Japanese culture, so the replaced onigiri aren't really a big deal in that series as the cookies fit just as well).

However, if ever a thing happened to, say, Naruto... Which is a series which is more delved into Japanese culture... THEN I find it more annoying.

Only thing I disliked about that scene was when Helmeppo smashes up the cookies, we see it's all crumbled up and dirty, yet when Zoro's given them afterwards, they're suddenly whole again. XD

Yes, you ARE alone because no, I hate it when dubbing companies do this. You're just living up to the stereotype that Americans think they're the only people that exist.

what does that have to do with enjoying characters and plot? The Legend of Zelda is Japanese and I don't see any "lolz culture" in that and it's highly enjoyable.

But if you're watching something that is part of Japanese culture, whether it's dubbed or not, seeing Japanese culture in it is expected. I wasn't saying that because it's Japanese it must have Japanese stuff in it.

Omigod, I hate how when I watch a japanese show they actually ACKNOWLEDGES Japan, you know? It's just sick, and thank god for those marvelous dub companies.

Kuririn, who is a Budhist monk, had recited a Christian prayer in the FUNimation/Saban dub of Dragon Ball Z way back when it was only on syndication.

I persoanlly can't stand it when a dub is Americanized. The main point of dubbing, imo, is to simply put a foreign show into English. HOwever, I don't mind it if it's comedy and Americanized/Translated copies are available.

Since you like americanization in anime, Justin, watch/read Beck. Despite it setting in Japan, It heavy influnce by American culture.

Well, I dunno about the americanization of animé, but personally, I think they should localise American animation when it's brought over to the UK. Fact of the matter is, hearing about confusing subjects such as this 'Thanksgiving' mallarky, and all this crud about 'founding fathers' and 'decolrations of independance' really gets my goat. Therefore, each and every American toon shipped here should be re-written and altered to suit British culture. No more of this 'burgers' and 'shakes' rubbish. It's fish & chips guv, fish & chips. And no 'soccer' or 'trunk' either. It's 'football' and 'boot'. And it'll no longer be the 'Decloration of Independance'. It'll be 'William Shakespeare's Hamlet'.

And yeah, I am trying to make a point here. Don't think too hard now.

Couldn´t agree more. I wish they´d germanize everything as well, having Ash & Co. eat "sauerkraut and sausages" or having Megaman & Lan Celebrate the "Oktoberfest"...

I hate it when we get US-ified animes in germany, which his getting more and more common over here...
