Looks like this episode was a solid 10 as far as Amourshipping goes, which is great. I'm pretty curious about Miette's intentions as well, since it looks like she's actually semi-serious about Ash...though it's hardly a surprise, since short-haired girls seem to have a thing for him XD

Also, it looks like Bonnie knew all along. Why am I not surprised? XD

Remember how the marketers released a poster of Ash, his Pikachu, and Serena sitting together on a ship while holding drinks before the release of the Diancie movie? Well, we got another poster ahead of this year's movie, and this one shows Serena feeding a donut to Pikachu, who's being held by a startled Ash while Hoopa hangs out above with a couple of donuts of its own. Clemont and Bonnie are nowhere to be seen.

At the very beginning of the Hoopa manga, which the movie will draw on quite a bit, Serena bakes donuts for the gang, and everyone really enjoys them, especially Ash. Serena asks Ash if he wants more donuts. When he says yes, she suggests that everyone go to Desser City, which is known for its donuts and for a certain mythical Pokemon. So the use of donuts in this poster is no accident.

It's obviously not the Valentine's Day poster from a year ago, but it's cute nonetheless.

But did you and your friend became a couple? In the AS what is important is that their bond as a couple become stronger. If they bicker and their friendship becomes stronger (as with Satoshi and Hikari), it would not be of much interest in AS perspective.

Yeah somehow we became a couple. But I don't want to go back to that one. xD. Anyways, the point here is that you won't be couple unless you start as friends. That's why they have to strengthen this friendship before they become a couple.

Does anyone remember these two? This is from XY 15. I just found it amusing to see this old woman having a blue ribbon and married to this old man. Maybe they are Ash and Serena when they become older? xD

Wow that's an amazing spot! Possible foreshadowing? We've seen a lot of that in the XY series; it's an incredibly loose shout, but what an amazing find that would be if turned to be hinting at Ash and Serena. I suppose there are 'slight' similarities that the two share with that old couple, but loosely in that sense, aha.

Absolutely love this year's film (Amour) artwork, it captures aspects of the film and uses them to subtly reflect Ash and Serena's bond. It's undeniably cute, I'm sure Ash was expecting that doughnut to be his, until that yellow rascal chored it.

Speaking of foreshadowing do you guys remember the episode where Jessie meets that doctor and quits Team Rocket? The doctor at the end realizes his feelings for his childhood friend IIRC, maybe that's hinting at something? Of all the places to find subtext you wouldn't expect it to be from Pokemon.

I mean sure, Serena isn't the type who'd seek an argument with him, but hypothetically if she did I think the drama could put her and Ash closer together when they make up.

But they are already friends. If they develop intimacy as friends there is a risk that it turns into a bromance (as Satoshi & Hikari), more than into a romance. You could have a level of friendship that accept nose picking in front of each other, but I can't see that this kind of action would be romantic or lead to romantic interest.

Not that it would be pointless. But I don't think that bickering would be necessary to develop their romantic bonds. There are other kind of dramas that could do it: like confronting other adversities together, helping each other, facing dilemmas ("should I choose love or dreams?"), etc. Romeo & Juliet don't spent times fighting each other (not that I'm saying that Satoshi or Serena or both must die, of course).

Well after seeing these photos I think it just shows that maybe the hints aren't always about Ash and Serena maybe the writers at leaving little Easter Eggs within the anime or even in posters, so maybe I'll be looking at possible hints hidden in the anime rather than just hints coming from Serena and Ash

The first picture shows us Ash and Serena surrounded in hearts, since it was Valentines Day and Serena liked Ash so we were like “Oh cool that's a nice little nod by the writers."

The second picture shows Ash and Serena sitting next to each other on a bench with drinks in hand, at that we starting to get suspicious on what the writers were thinking. “Was this a way of them showing support to Amourshipping?" we thought.

The third picture shows Ash and Serena (now in a new design) and Hoopa floating above them. Serena is seen feeding a donut to Pikachu who is in Ash's arms while Ash looks somewhat surprised. At this point the writers weren't even trying to be subtle anymore.

Ha! I like how even Bonnie's english VA is excited about Bonnie knowing.
I'm not sure how the English (let alone, the French dub) will handle the dub but I do hope they get as close as possible with the original lines because it's always important.

Well, I'm not sure what happened between you and your friend but if Serena and Ash's relationship turns from friendship to relationship, there will be no turning back.

Looks like Serena is really doing her best to win Ash's heart through his stomach and that Ash is really loving Serena's baking. Yet another proof that Ash and Serena's bond can grow by means of Serena's baking skills and Ash's appetite, lol!

Also, just going back to episode 79. When Ash complimented Serena in her dress, has Ash ever complimented any girl like that? I really find it surprising that he was able to praise Serena in a dress. That's so not Ash. XD

Wow I hadn't seen the donut Ash and Serena poster before: It's adorable. I wish we'd get this kind of stuff more often since it's official artwork and not just AmourShipping fan art like we usually see. Not that there's anything wrong with fan art (pixiv has tons of great Ash x Serena drawings from what I've seen), just that I've always preferred official stuff over fan-made material when it comes to ships.

I know, it's not like I'm stoked about it. I use hashtags rather sparingly (if I have to use them at all, which is something I try to avoid) and Amour is far from canon.

Man these official posters with Ash and Serena are just so amazing, but what are they leading to?(if they're leading to anything) after looking at them I also think that they represent the concept of a family, It just feels nice to see things like this for Ash and Serena!

Question:

If you were to make an official poster showcasing Ash and Serena in some way how would you do it?

For me I would have the poster show both Ash and Serena's hats next to one another and then the ribbon Serena got from Ash laying next to Serena's hat and the handkerchief that Ash has laying next to his hat the background is the forest where Ash and Serena met with the scene of Ash and Serena holding hands when they were little!

Concerning Amourshipping's development, I don't think bickering/arguing is necessary, contrary to what matthew11 has said (and he has not provided a convincing response to the rebuttals), and many have mentioned how such bickering could end up being contrived. Knowing the personalities of Ash and Serena, it'd be difficult to create a bickering episode without feeling forced, and I'd rather see no bickering than forced bickering. Now that doesn't mean that I'm completely opposed to it; it can definitely provide strength for the ship if done correctly. It could bring out something like this (been a while since I brought out one of these):

Okay, so maybe it won't go exactly that way, but you get the point. But in the end, while it could be helpful, it's not essential.

Besize, this series will never be like the other series in the past, we can already see that with what the writers have done with character devlopment and making Ash less dense and adding such a major character in Serena and the whole amourshipping stuff. Also the ratings for this show are the highest they have been since the first series of pokemon aired and I don't think people watched pokemon because of the characters bickering. Also, back in the beginning the show was geared towards a comedic type genre unlike XY series.

Thats my two yen.

Actually, the ratings really suck for Pokemon (it gradually got sucked down thanks to that disaster known as Best Wishes), and only marginally increased with Pokemon XY. The show often fails to even get to the Top 10. If something doesn't happen soon, the show could get cancelled, and I don't think anyone wants that.

Officially Ash is still 10 YO, but the thuth IMHO simply Ash have an undetermined age, like in many shows, and 10 YO is a sort of "automatic answer" not really updated... it appears to me "forced" somehow, It's only to give a number to his age (It's better in my opinion maintain this things undetermined.... but well...).

It's a controversial matter, but for me and others Ash doesn't really have 10 YO for so many reasons and evidences (not only the fact that this series is running for many years) that one could write a book (as you noted Scottie's age is one example) Ash, Serena and Citron are clearly in their adolescent age (even physically) in my opinion. I don't know if is true, but I read that japanese shows tend to be illogic in this kind of things, other things are more important for they.

What this thing means for amourshipping? well, for example could be a kiss between Ash and Serena a serius possibility? Yes, if they are in their adolescence.

As much as the evidence points out otherwise (strengthened by a site I've shown a few pages back), Ash remains ten years old in the show, again thanks to the dreadful Best Wishes. They're doing that for the sake of drawing younger viewers, no matter how badly it's done. Nothing we can do about that.

I hope XY series will continue to break all the remain patters after so many years (AS is the resoult of a long time pattern that have been broken at last). I'm tired that no one accomplished their respective dream/goal in this anime at the end (it was good the first time, add some unpredictability, but after 16+ years...)... now is win the Kalos league for Ash, win master class (kalos queen) for Serena and make AS canon... which of these goals will be achieved? none of them if writers follow the classic old scheme.

This repetitive pattern it's the only thing that prevent me to be fully optimistic.

I'm on the same boat as you. Can this show really drag on for much longer? I honestly think that unless a show is entirely episodic (something like Tom and Jerry, where no episode bears anything on all other episodes), prolonging a series can hurt the quality of it, to the point where plotholes and contradictions begin to appear and people will notice. We see this in shows like One Piece, Detective Conan, The Simpsons, Dr. Who, and especially western comics such as Marvel, DC, and Archie. Granted, continuity isn't the focus on some of the aforementioned works/universes, but it's still bad storytelling. Pokemon is a woeful case where if the status quo keeps running, then Ash is destined to fail every time, making his journey ever pointless. The writers better do something right this time, and admittedly Amourshipping has given me hope that the outcome will be different.

To me, that's the type of thing that makes other shippings flawed--seeing things where they don't exist and spinning scenarios into something they aren't. Take a look at Naruto's NaruSaku fandom for an example. On the contrary, Amourshipping is something that could actually happen, because of the various and obvious signs given by Serena and the fact that a real canon crush is confirmed on her part. What Serena gives can't really be considered hints anymore, but signs.

Finally, and I'm sorry to point this out, but Amour hasn't won yet. It's too early to declare victory (or admit defeat for opposing shippers), and the scoreline is still 0-0 in the game. And I think Setsuna is overthinking on the posters--the last one hardly seems shippy to me anyways, and thus I doubt anything will come out of that movie (or any of the movies really; I personally don't believe the previous movie is canon). I hope this doesn't offend any of you, but I consider both the old couple's ribbons and the Hoopa poster (or at least the collective interpretation of the three posters together) as Class F hints. I also doubt anything will come out of XY083, but hopefully I'm proven wrong in that case.
