With the escalator scene the Pokémon anime has reached it's perfect conclusion. After finishing in second place in the Kalos league and only missing out on first place by an inch, and then being acknowledged as the superior trainer by the winner during the Team Flare arc, Ash can legitimately call himself a Pokémon Master. And he gets the girl. And there is the promise that both his an Serena's adventures will continue.

At this point I hope Sun and Moon really is a reboot or an alternate timeline, because this is where the anime should end. The more I think about the more I prefer it ending with Ash still having room for more adventures and to improve than it ending with him being the champion.

Still a shame that they censored a kiss. There's no reason to do that. I had to rewatch the scene just to confirm that the kiss happened in my mind. It was the expressions of Bonnie and Clemont that convinced me.

I don't know about you, but when I get my hands on Pokémon Moon, I'm gonna dress the kid like Ash. And then Ash shows up. Paradox time.

I can totally see everyone doing it if he's featured. If you do that an easter egg that reveals Ash was a Ditto all this time should be triggered. Then your character becomes the real Ash. Now we just need someone dressing their female character like Serena et voilá, AmourshippinginAlola confirmed and canon in both games and anime.

Oh, and Pokémon Moon? I see, making great choices from the shippings you support to the versions you choose

As for the circumstances that'll lead to a possible appearance in S/M, I wouldn't think too much about it. How many times have we, as a whole, thought of different scenarios during the Flare arc regarding Serena and her feelings? I doubt that any of us are gonna hit it spot on, though I'll admit that it's fun and nice to have an active imagination, regardless of how asdfghjkl; it may seem sometimes. Just my $0.02.

We can try to predict the future and will invariably do so, but if this doesn't bring us peace of mind, i'm not too sure what will. For me and i believe for most of us, the only thing missing is Ash literally reciprocating Serena's feelings. But even if he does, he either doesn't realize it or it would be extremely out of character to have him overtly state them right now. The kiss had a strong emotional impact on him, we know that. It's all set for when he finally gets into the "oh, this is/was a demosntration of love" stage.

The writers literally picked the safest ending possible.

Appeal to Amourshippers big time so they can't complain with the kiss and confirm her feelings. Keep past and future ships alive by making Ash leave a dumbfounded expression.

I disagree, I think no kiss would have been a safer ending. I say this because despite being a happy ending for the pairing, it doesn't really do any favors to Amourshipping fans(other than giving them that moment, obviously). She is still leaving and the people who were likely to drop the anime before the kiss are still likely to do so. The difference is they will be leaving on a happier, bittersweet note as opposed to just bitter.

Nah, Omode actually developped Ash his side of the crush in 45 but it was kinda trollish because we had 1 big hint. And still the episoe was about Serena's choice, not her interactions with Ash. Altough you can say see was chosing between Ash and her dream but I don't think it was about that. It was about going with Palermo or not. So not a real troll but just the truth of the episode. And btw: I was the one who said is things doesn't look good it always turnes out good and vice versa: 45 always looked bright from the first preview on but in the end was not the best. 47 builded it up with all sad scenes which made me think 'writers are not giving damn about ship anymore' until this morning preview came out which was like: 'please don't bait us'. AND it all turned out good because we thought something bad was gonna happen.

Both the kiss and Serena's statements about Ash being her goal, and that she'll meet him again are pretty good hints that they are at least thinking about bringing her back. They are at the very least leaving the door open. If Sun and Moon does follow XY in the timeline then I do expect at least a cameo somewhere down the line.

It certainly didn't help that there was a couple behind him.

He had said goodbye to all his friends throughout his journey. When he said goodbye to Misty, it was tough, he had been through so much with her and Brock. She had literally saved his life, and caught a Poliwag in the process. A Poliwag...

When he said goodbye to May and Max, the boy was sad because his sister doesn't want to depend too much on her brother. Ash cheered him up with the promise of a battle.

When he said goodbye to Dawn, it was Piplup who was upset, being separated from Pikachu was hard on the small penguin.

When he said goodbye to Iris, no one got upset.

And when he said goodbye to Serena, no one was expecting that.

He had always had a soft spot for Serena, helping her through treacherous paths, and conforting her when she needed it. He thought it was because he had met her before, but it was only a few hours ago that he realized why he did the things he did. And what it took for him to realize it. Serena took a leap of faith and kissed him, surprising everyone there.

That had been it. Ash's Eureka moment. It was at that moment that he realized what she meant to him. Being told that he was Serena's goal sort of confused him, but that kiss; that simple, unmistakable moment made him change the filter through which he saw her.

And now here he was, alone with Pikachu, heading off into Pallet Town, to start a new journey. He never forgot any of his friends, but this girl from Vaniville was the girl who won his heart. And he would move Heaven and Earth to see her again.

I honestly wasn't expecting this, it's finally done xD They did the kiss scene the safest way possible but canon is canon, congrats guys. Hopefully she makes a cameo in sun & moon or has some special episodes.

Isn't that ironic lol. I'll admit I was expecting a little something to happen because of them telling us to wait until the end, but nowhere near the capacity that was shown. At least now Serena gets to go on continuing her journey with no regrets whatsoever, I was quite pleased in that aspect.

It was a good detail about the kiss and confession of Serena towards Ash (because if she said "Ash was his goal" and that the next time I'd see would be a more beautiful woman for him) so the only thing I hope is that if you have your cameo in Alola not ignore his crush on Ash and ultimately could use this established to decide when to grow and give Ash family and such. The latter is less likely muhco but anyway, will have to wait only about 2 years to see if the cameo Serana and three happens to see what they do with the League and such.
Serena and shipping along with AshGreninja think it's the only thing salvageable from this generation and hopefully not ruin it, please.

PS was shocked when I found out that Serena kissed Ash and did not believe me.

Also, quick brainwave: The very last episode before SM starts has no title as of yet. And we're all interested in SM anime being a parallel universe. And the anime didn't end the way it used to. I'm thinking that we may have one last episode before Alola takes over.
It could establish the universe, such as Ash receiving his Pikachu and then going to Alola.
Or, it could set the scene where Ash meets Serena again...

Or, it could set the scene where Ash meets Serena again...

It is very unlikely to be the case, since it could be just a filler or maybe the continuation of the previous episode. But seriously, if this can be confirmed if or if I want to see a special that was Ash we know, he had family with Serena, if I win the league logo and such, but is only about 10 seconds animation. That would be enough for me.

Like better not to have any expectation about that because we could again disappoint, I did not expect anything today episode brightening my day but ended the kiss scene

I guess it's safe to assume that amourshipping was indeed part of the plot and all of the writers reached some sort of consensus on how to approach it. Still, Tomioka will indeed be remembered as the God of writers, an amourshipping hero.

On another note, i just watched the episode subbed. Man, that was great. I'm probably alone on this, but i seriously wouldn't mind if this was the last episode of the anime, at least the last for all these characters(Ash included), a la Yu-gi-oh. Tell me how you feel about that impression.

Also, other than the obvious "You're my goal, Ash. When we meet again i'll be a much more attractive girl" (Ash replying to this with a fist bump still cracks me up. Ash's denseness levels are/were off the charts) and the kiss, we also had Serena blushing when Delia invited them to come to Pallet Town, Ash and Serena exchanging glances constantly until she left and the fact that amourshipping moments popped up during the montage that recapped Ash's Kalos journey, not Serena's.
