I feel like after MPM 11, Ash's journey will take place mostly in movies moving forward and that's Yajima's field. Even if Amour will only be canon in movies, that's better than nothing.

Meh, I get you and other shippers are more passionate about your preferred pairing, but I'd much rather prefer that something got confirmed/pushed forward as the canon pairing.

Amour wins by default for being the farthest ahead is not what anyone expected when XY ended.

Also, they're definitely keeping Ash in the wings, either to bring him back as a protagonist or for future specials/movies, so maybe companions will return then.

I mean, by this point, Misty's relationship with Ash has been leaning heavily into platonic territory since she never does anything to one-up Serena.

I mean, Misty also has the last shipping hint in the show (end of MPM02), basically making it so the shipping wars will never die.

Well there are a lot of parallels: between Taki/mitsuha and Ash and Serena:
- After last seeing each other in late 2016 they reunited at April 8 2022
- The blue ribbon = The red kumihimo

To be fair, given what we know now, even I’ve come to acknowledge that MPM02 was just blatant fan service to sucker people like me into watching through to the end. I guess it technically doesn’t make the hint any less valid, but still tainted a bit.

lmao, we're basically back to square one, keep assuming when will Serena return, what is the future of Amour, will the kiss ever be addressed again?, etc.

This to me sounds like that's the way they intended it to be. I doubt the writers are ready to fully retire Ash yet. Even though he's not the main character of the anime anymore, he could simply star in a separate movie or a special episode and if the anime doesn't do well, then Ash could just return as a main character again.

Anyway, 10th anniversary of XY game/anime this year. We'll see if there's something by then.

That's fair. Obviously, you guys got screwed all around here and I can't deny that. Just slightly salty that they basically manipulated me into caring about this series.

Not even a confession (in a cutesy tsundere fashion) or something which is sad tbh.

So while MPM02 had the last "hint", in the end it wasn’t enough to surpass the kiss.

When it’s one thing out of all the episode would you even call it a romantic hint when everything else says otherwise? Or is it just being embarassed to ask to go along someone you got into drawn out roast fight with and had nothing to do with romance? Though i guess that isn’t really a tooic for this thread.

But well there was no way we were getting any final ship when the writers couldn’t even bother to really finish up ash’s goal of 26 years. So we can only be happy with what we got.

At least the fanarts are still going strong for now, but it’ll be a question of how long that’ll last as well.
