Amourshipping Thread V3

No wonder Ash is not in Pokemon HZ

He got isekaid to a ramen commercial.... with glasses

Him and Miette got isekaid apparently....Damn, Serena got one up'd again
Great performance of Matsumoto there. The tone of the voice makes it clear it's her but she makes it sound different enough than how she usually voices their male characters.

It's even better than those times she played an Ash from an opposite dimension (mirror world and the one from that two-parter with Dawn on JN)

It's honestly a sad state of affairs. They could have done so much more with it. I'm not expecting anything at this point but it always bothered me, what was the point of the kiss and all that if you're not going to follow up on it?

It's like panting a seed in your backyard but never watering it.

I remember people online speculating that Serena was going to be like Dawn and receive frequent appearances post-XY. It ended up being the complete opposite.

The writers could have easily written a 2 minute scene between Ash and Serena that would have furthered the pairing while still keeping it kid-friendly. I remember writing a few examples many pages ago.

Even something as simple as showing Ash staring back at the dock (mirroring Serena staring at the boat) would have implied mutual feelings.

The fact that Serena didn't appear once in MPM (Ash's final arc) and another shipping got the last hint of the anime says a lot.

Honestly I kinda lost hope for amour being canon I just hope they don't sink it

The only hope for any continuation of Amourshipping is to make the Pokémon version of The Last: Naruto the Movie - basically an older Ash realizes his feelings toward Serena.

-------------

XY(&Z) was just a different time. There was so much hype to the anime.

With the way this anime works, any romantic plot with Ash (or even liko) is doomed to fail. I mean the idea of keeping the protagonist constant while getting rid of his/her friend circle? It just sounds stupid in hindsight.

If Ash hasn't aged by 2026/27 we can be pretty sure that he nerver will and that the status quo as we know it right now will be eternal. This also means that any shipping related stuff will be relegated to fanfic territory

The thing is Pokemon is not mainly about romance, it's mainly about bonding with Pokemon.

Serena not appearing in Alola makes sense because she wants to improve herself and return to him once she feels like she's on Ash's level. Her visiting Ash in Alola would be OOC for her. Her being at the WPC stadium in-person would be OOC for her as well. Ash and Pikachu's climax miniseries is having Ash living life as a "10 year old" once more before he comes to his personal conclusion. Her and Ash interacting would probably not allow him to do that.

Just because it's 'mainly' about something else doesn't mean it's excused because it tried something else and completely botched it.

This is a bunch of bs btw, since the writers could easily make an excuse for her to show up. Maybe there's some showcase in Alola. Maybe she doesn't have anything else to do while the World Tournament final is happening. This isn't the real world, there don't have to be binding obligations that completely prevent a character from showing up for the most important match in their friend's life. Yes, this applies to every single character who wasn't there to watch Ash vs Leon in person.

There's plenty of anime out there that are not predominantly about romance but still have it to spice things up. This argument is plain BS.

All of this just makes me think Serena (or any pokegirl for that matter) deserves better than some guy who's never going to hit puberty. Even if they hook up in the near future her life would be delia 2.0. Do people really want that for her?

Does this include children's animes? It's not just that Pokemon is not mainly about romance, but that its target audience is children (at least the Ash Ketchum era of the Pokemon anime)

lol it's not like Serena or anyone else in the Ash era was ever gonna grow up either, since it was stuck in time. Let's hope Horizons is at least a little different.

Except that anime deliberately separated Goh from Ash just before his final match with Leon. It's a lesson to real life that sometimes, you will miss the most important event of your friend's life. And Goh's situation is much worse because unlike the other friends, who are watching Ash live on TV, Goh is on a helicopter pondering in his thoughts. He couldn't even witness the grand finale because it would conflict with his dream.

When looking at Ash's friends during Ash vs Leon, they're all in locations that visually showcase their career. Misty is at her Cerulean Gym, Brock is being a doctor, Serena and May are performing a contest, etc. They're all in pursuit of their dreams, and only a few (like Dawn) can make it to the actual tournament in person.

Really, the thing that was missing was a grand celebration party of Ash's victory in Kanto. That is where you call in everyone for one final party. Where everyone can put aside their dreams for now to celebrate the dream achievement of one Ash Ketchum. But that's another story.

As I've stated before, what matters isn't how many times Serena and Ash meet post-XY. Rather, it's all about the context within the meetings they have that matter the most because that's where casual audience can get a better understanding of the unique relationship between Ash and Serena.

Yeah it showed so much character development for Goh to feel less heavily dependent on Ash, and he can start becoming his own.

I'm sorry but Goh's is the only one that was kinda acceptable. The absence of everyone else was just lame, especially with how long this has been building up. Hell, at least Misty and Brock should've shown up!

Also, Dawn still made it.

I'm willing to excuse everyone else but serena is the one who really doesn't make sense to me. She likes Ash, even declared him as her goal. I don't think she'd miss it for the world. Ash not inviting his friends is weirdest of all. Wouldn't you want your friends to be there for the most important event of your life?

>inb4 but he knows they're busy chasing their dreams
Isn't he supposed to be 10? 10 year old's don't have that level of emotional maturity.

It's obvious they don't care about being characters being coherent or in-character. Anipoke has always been a hard and cold corporate machine. Expecting anything from this anime is a mistake.

Serena's goal has a double meaning:

1) Be just like Ash and inspire others
2) Eventually be with Ash when they are older, possibly married

The first one is already being done. She is inspiring others alongside May. She just got time to watch Ash on live TV, rooting for him. Also note that Serena wants to come back as far lovelier, improved version of herself when she reunites with Ash once again. Such a reunion would require a lot more than just a cameo reunion on the stadium (which is mainly focused on Ash and Pikachu).

Also, it's quite evident that everyone knows where Ash is considering that Dawn got herself a seat alongside Chloe. They all knew where it takes place. They could just go there if they have time to do so. Ash needs not to invite save for a party of his victory.

Not realizing that kids grow up is the basically the biggest mistake the ashime has ever done

Look buddy it's simple logic. If i'm about to participate in the most important match of my life I want those who supported me by my side. It's simple gratitude. Him not bothering to invite anybody is a testament to how much he cares about them. Sure it's their duty to be there for him (which only goes to show how little they care about it) but it's also his duty to give them a call and ask them to be there. If they say they can't, then all is fine and dandy but at least make the effort to invite them for god's sake. That's not how you treat your friends.

Also note that Serena wants to come back as far lovelier, improved version of herself when she reunites with Ash once again
The notion that serena right now isn't 'adequate enough' for him is pure misogyny and I'm not even a feminist lmao. What does improvement even entail? What exactly is she supposed to improve upon that is going to make Ash fall for her? Do simple acts like being there for someone at their vulnerable moments not count? Suppose Ash got into a fatal accident. Is she still not supposed to show up because muh promise? Or are we implying that being the world champion isn't important enough for her to be there?

Are we seriously teaching kids that dreams are the be all end all and that nothing, not even relationships are more important than wealth, status, fame and power?

Back in BW, yes that was a problem. It's quite telling that when the Japanese kids watched the original series grew up and took jobs at the Pokémon anime, Ash's entire journey went into an upswing. Wouldn't be surprised if they were nudging Ash to end on a high note, from Serena to Alola Victory to World Tournament to introducing a co-protagonist Goh.

Doesn't matter if he called them or not. The point is that everyone knows where that stadium is. Dawn found it. Chloe too. If they're busy, then they can't come. It is simple as that. In the rules of details, you cannot have Ash call everyone to travel to the stadium if many are not going to be there in person. Maybe he did call all of them, but they were too busy. Everyone have Rotomphones and TV to watch Ash. It's not like being there in person is the only way to witness his greatest achievement.

The point with Serena is that she wants to make a different impression for Ash when she reunites him, just to showcase how far she has gotten. It's not simply a romance thing. Misty can show off how much she's changed as Gym Leader. Same thing with Brock. They want to show off how much they've changed to each other. Again, showing up to Ash's final tournament match would only make sense if she is not currently pursuing her goals. But she is. And she has TV to watch Ash at his best. And who knows? Maybe Ash Ketchum would become even stronger and better offscreen when next they meet.

I mean, Partner was already crammed with everyone rooting for Ash and Pikachu in spirit. The celebration of all things Pokémon. There's simply no space for Amourshipping in an already crammed episode. If I wanted more Amourshipping, make it an episode dedicated to that. Or a movie.
