Yes, there would be plenty of upset people even if the majority of fans weren't teenaged and older (which they are).
I get minor disappointment, but to be legitimately upset? Idk, that seems like an overreaction. I guess I'm not a die-hard Amourshipper. I liked watching those moments when XY aired, and I want it to work out given that the show invested in this subplot.
However, it's not like Ash wasn’t just as close with say, Misty or Dawn, so if he ended up with another character, that would make sense too.
And if it’s nobody at all/isn’t brought up at all, then that makes even more sense since this isn't not a romance show and Ash has been oblivious to romance all series long.
No it won’t. I’ve seen where this goes. It’s never pretty.
If Pokeshipping becomes canon are you going to toss salt everywhere?
Frankly, I hope nothing becomes canon. At least not right now. There is no way they can do any ship justice in 6 episodes when they’re trying to give every one focus before the end.
I wouldn't mind seeing something become mutual, or having hints of it. Amour is the most likely by far.
yeah it seems like there is a divide between the western and eastern fandom when it comes to shipping the dominant ones in the west are most likely satogou and pokeshipping and the dominant ones in the east are amour and pearl.
What exactly do people who enjoy good romance think of the pairing? Not based on personal like or dislike nor on the anime having an official ship, but for those who like well written romance books or shows, do they find it a good romance? Or is it poorly written? Didn't watch too much of XY so I won't personally try to give an opinion.
Some would say this argument is actually a
pro for Amourshipping, but one possible criticism of Serena/Amourshipping is that Serena was written to already have a crush on Ash from the get-go. It's not as if they got to know each over the course of XY, and experienced moments that caused her/him to like the other.
She knew him from an experience years ago at a summer camp, and then she sees him again as the same person in XY, and pretty much (re-)likes him instantly. To be fair though,
everyone admired XY Ash, so it's rather easy to see why Serena would develop a crush on him even if they didn't share that backstory.
I think detractors of Amourshipping would argue that Serena was just handed this shipping, but there wasn't anything clearly established that would make Ash like her over anybody else. Don't get me wrong though, Serena has a lot of positive qualities that make her a likeable character, but if we're talking about whether this pairing succeeds as a "good romance", then they didn't do nearly enough from Ash's side. She spends all of XY crushing over him, and only confesses in her very last scene.
As I've said before:
Eh, they had plenty of moments that had romantic undertones, even if those moments were exclusively driven by Serena's underlying feelings.
While XY Ash didn't overtly show signs that he viewed her as more than a good friend, he constantly looked after her and was protective of her. He was aware whenever she was down. He supported her goals and path. He was always very polite and kind to her. That's a strong foundation right there.
I guess the only major lacking aspect is that non-XY Ash is generally a more animated and goofy guy, and not afraid to clap back, but Serena didn't exactly have those type of interactions and banter with him, unlike other companions.
Ultimately though, it doesn't have to be a "good romance," as:
Yeah i sometimes don’t see how people delude themselves to thinking otherwise. When it’s not a harem genre work where the whole point is to find who ‘wins’ stories with a focus on action pretty much make it pretty obvious by having the character with the most blatant and constant show of affection be the one.
Like i had absolutely zero care for naruto or bleach ships, but i thought the writing were so obviously on the wall.
