So, I've been thinking about this for awhile, but I'd like a few opinions from the general fic-going populace before I get too serious with it. First off, for those who don't know, Naruto is a wildly popular manga/anime series revovling around a 13 (later, 15) year old boy who had a demon sealed inside him near birth. It takes place in a world of ninja; trained warriors who act similarly to mercenaries by taking missions while at the same time like wizards by using internal energy (or chakra) to use techniques which are more or less spells. Various things happen during missions, there's a healthy amount of yaoi undertoning throughout the series, and the whole idea is just a really cool one. I suggest that you pick it up or start watching if you haven't already.
Now, to my fic. I want to place it many (75~100) years after where the actual series is now in order to distance myself from the canon and have more free reign with the subject matter. I plan to more or less do away with the 3 man cell plus one teacher structure, opting for several 3 man cells under 1 or 2 teachers. This will make sense due to the villages lack of qualified teachers after the last war. It also enables a lot more interaction between multiple cells instead of the way Naruto focuses entirely one one. I think it's a reasonable change, but feel free to tell me if it's too much. XD
I also plan to act as though the last two members of the Uchiha clan (Sasuke and Itachi) have both died and never reproduced, effectively ending their clan. This is mostly due out of spite towards both characters, but also out of spite towards Sasuke's hordes of fan girls. I don't want to deal with them going "Why there no Uchiha?!", so killing them off sound provide a suitable reason, no? [SPOIL]Sasuke wouldn't have reproduced anyway; he's too far in love with Naruto

As for the plot itself, it will revolve mostly around a 15 year old, newly made ninja and his cell as they learn the tricks of the trade. There's quite a colorful cast lined up, including another Nara clan member, a boy who fights via drum, and a girl who talks to trees. There is a larger arc to encompass many smaller ones (including a Chuunin Exam), so the plot will actually be going somewhere. Plus, since it's not based entirely off the show, it won't just be a typical Naruto fic sex-fest.
Comments, questions, and concerns are welcomed and encouraged, as are character ideas. Try to make the latter somewhat coherent and detailed if you'd like me to even consider listening, though. ^^
