DP010 (478): Pokétch Unavailable!?
Roomaji: Pokétch Nyuushukon'nan!?
Airdate: 11/30/06

There seems to be another break on the 23rd. Whether it's because of baseball again or not was not reported there.

Despite the fact that Hikari generally MUST get it, I would rather Takeshi get it, I really can't immagine Hikari giving tonnes of information out at this point, despite being skilled.

First.

Thank you, SPPf! :)
Pretty vague title, though I've got my money on this being the episode they reach Kotobuki City (3rd city, but not the one with the gym).

Yeah, ok!
Why does this remind me of the Devon corp episode where Max spilled juice on the PokeNav and broke it?

Anyway, ok. It seems fairly obvious that Shinou at this point is going to be as stretched out as Hoenn was. Hoenn benefited by putting a lot of plot-centric stuff in fillers to make them all worthwhile, so hopefully Shinou does the same.

Does she actually own a Poketech yet?

Its probably the store ran out so they go to the company and get one but they are all stolen by Team Rocket.

I can't say the concept of a Poketch episode excites me....at all.... but hopefully this time around the token 'map' device doesn't end up being a complete waste of time. I'd like it to be a little more significant than the Pokénav at least, which was used once in a blue moon, and for really lame purposes.

This also reeks of mad shopping sprees, which could potentially make me smile. They handled it pretty nicely back in the Princess day episode, afterall. But, you know me...I ain't holding my breath ;)

Well, the Poketch does a lot more than the Pokenav, but then again, these are the POKEMON writers we're dealing with here... :(

So they are probally in kotobuki city. Meaning the contest should be coming up in an episode or two after. Likely Hikari will try to buy a poketchi and they are all out and so she'll do the quiz thing and answer the questions and win one. Hopefully they do the poke school thing in Kotobuki city with somebody from the main cast or Hikari's rival in it. Speaking of which it'd be interesting if it was a role reversal and Hikari was more of the Gary/Drew of the rivalry and her rival was the noob Ash/May type.

That wouldn't be very interesting, and it means Hikari would lose in the end too.

Hikari is a total newbie who hasn't even won a battle against another trainer yet aside from TR.

There's no way she can act like a Gary/Drew type to her rival unless her rival is a total idiot.

Hikari should be snarky, but her character was rather bland and generic in the Naetoru episode. I know that wasn't a Hikari focused episode, but yikes, I hope that blandness does not continue into her Contests.

It'd beat having a Gary clone or a Richie clone. You can already tell that her rival is going to be a nice so and so. Also again I said similar obviously it wouldnt be exactly and she could still lose in contests just act like a now it all to her rival. It's obvious Hikari acts like she knows what she is doing and doesnt like being told what to do by anyone. She has alot of pride since her mother won the Grand Festival. It'd be annoying for her to be a noob about contests and it seems she knows more about being a trainer than Kanto Ash and Hoenn May did. With a nice rival and a somewhat arrogant Hikari. Maybe not exactly like Gary/Drew but I can see her be a mentor to her kind of like Grace was to May.

Didnt stop Gary did it? Anyway as I said before I said like not exactly replicated. Anyway as I said before not totally like it but being a mentor/know it all is what I was getting it. She isnt a total newbie. Lets not forget May and her millions of folleys at the beggining such as throwing two pokemon out for her appeal and her countless other mistakes. So far Hikari's mistakes have been pretty understandable for a begginner and some of them were her being a ditz like hitting Ash with the ball.

As for the blandness we'll have to wait for a filler to give accurate judgement on her role.

In the games, the Poketch is given by a man...after you talk to his Insane Clown Posse...
....This episode just got 201% more interesting.

Funnnngaaaaa
Indeed, while playing Pearl I was literally SCREAMING as I meticulously walked up to these...clowns...and had to talk to them, which in response I was given a VERY personal and senstive question (it was in Japanese, but I can tell) in which upon answering I was handed a "ticket" of some sorts (possibly to a Gay Clown Club), and obtaining three of them the Suited Man (who I guess owns Poketch Co.) gave me said device....

And possibly, signed me up for the Russian Circus.

Thank you, SPPf! :)
The institute that developed Poketch is actually a clown college.
