Animal Crossing Fishing Tournament Question

Ok, it was snowing today and I caught a Coelacanth for the 2nd time today (Donated the 1st one). Since the fishing tournament is in a week for me, am I able to submit this fish in the tournament for a sure victory and obtain the Fishing Trophy?

Or... does the game make sure you've caught a fish during the event instead of a 1 week old fish.... I really want the Fish Trophy. Does this work? Help would be appreciated. Thanks

Tried that, Lobo beat me at length. I think it's random if you win.

Ooo, I've got a Tuna now, which is longer than a Coelacanth. Did Lobo beat you with a Tuna? I heard Tuna>Coelacanth in length...

Fortunately, the Fishing Tourney isn't limited to Bass (excluding Sea Bass) in Wild World. Actually, that's what made it challenging in the GCN game. Anyway, I would find a different large fish. You should sell the Coelacanth to help pay off your debt if you still have one.

by the way, isn't this kind of in the wrong forum topic?

To be safe, catch a tuna. I landed one at 76.6 inches and won the tourney easily and most of the competition were sea bass in the mid 40s

Just to let you guys know, I won the fishing tournament with a one week 76 Inch tuna. The next fishing tournament, 26 February 06.

no way is some crappy trophy worth 15,000 bells.

Tuna usually wins, but if you start early and step it up gradually, you get lots of "free" furniture.

I think the mod should keep this open. Let's see how and when and with what people get the trophies. I won furniture with a sea bass but still got out-fished by the local grouchy "jock-type" character. (sorry if the word jock offends anyone but it's in the description of the guide I have. :p) I'm stepping it up gradually.
