So utterly wonderful. I thought I couldn't possibly be more excited for this game, but I am. This next month is going to be absolute torture. Simply any Animal Crossing on Switch would get me stoked, but this is going above and beyond. Everything looks grand and beautiful. Absolutely can't wait.
Honestly, I think what might have made me most happy was when they showed the various possible town layouts. I love town layouts with unique and quirky features. In City Folk my town had an island formed by a fork in the river, and in New Leaf it had an small "secret" beach that could only be accessed by swimming. I love that kind of stuff, and it looks like New Horizon has even more quirky layouts.
Two question though. What is the point. besides giving Resetti a new job, of the Rescue Service? Let's be real, even you somehow managed to get lost in your own town, the place is so small that it would literally be impossible not to find your way back just by stumbling around. There must be something else at play here.
And then there's the free updates. Why in the world are they putting holidays in via updates, instead of just putting them in the base game? Seems rather pointless to me. I suppose it's a way to curb time travelling (and I fully support getting rid of time travelling), but it's only going to do so for the first year, so in the long run, doesn't really help all that much.
I'm certain this is an unpopular opinion, but the one minor complaint I have is the degree of control you have over your town with where neighbors move in and customizing even the rivers and cliffs. I enjoy living in the world of Animal Crossing, not being its god. I've never understood the need people have to control every aspect of their town. For me, it's fun seeing your town takes its own life around you.
