Lelouch’s primary utility: Able to lead his forces with his unparalleled charisma and providing them with outstanding battle strategies.

Eren’s primary utility: Being a titan shifter, he’s humanity’s trump card in the battle against the titans mainly from a combat standpoint.

The key word here is “combat”. Eren’s role is mainly that of a front line combatant whereas Leleouch’s is that of a leader and tactician hence it’s far more understandable for Lelouch to require people protecting him than it is for Eren.

Well Eren is actually extremely strong in his Titan form as a combatant, so there's that. And against the likes of Annie Leonhart, Berthold and Reiner (in their Titan forms), even the strongest of warriors would need protection lol. Unless you are Levi Ackerman, who the heck stands a chance one on one against those insanely overpowered titans?

Point is Eren’s primary purpose is to fight whereas Lelouch’s primary purpose is to lead and strategize ergo it’s fallacious to use Lelouch as a means of excusing Eren needing protection. That’s all.
