Since there are more and more shows being licensed nowadays, and there's never a shortage of releases, I thought this would be a useful thread to keep up with all the DVD releases of the anime we like. If any of the mods have a problem with this thread, then feel free to close it. You are free to do whatever you want with this thread. You can sticky it, delete it if you feel you need to, anything. I'll post as much news as I can find, but if I forget something (which I undoubtedly will), you guys can post news as well. Since I live in region 1, I'll only cover DVDs from here. People who don't live in North America can post news for their regions as well, just be sure to say where in the world it's being released so that people don't get confused.

Description: Romance, comedy, martial arts mayhem, multiple personality changes, devilish dolls, haunted caves, magical phoenixes, evil ogres, legendary monsters and more!

It's not easy being a teenage martial artist named Ranma Saotome, but it's even worse when your martial artist father Genma takes you from home at an early age to go on a decade-long training mission. He doesn't speak a word of Chinese, and yet he insists on bringing you to the cursed training ground known as Jusekyo, where falling into one of many springs instantly turns you into whoever (or whatever) drowned there last. And then, the two of you have this accident...

It seems that Ranma's life only gets more and more complicated as time goes by. Not only is he engaged to Akane Tendo, tomboy heir to the Tendo Anything-Goes School of Martial Arts, but he's also saddled with a bevy of beautiful, far-too persistent girls who want Ranma all to themselves! You'd think he could solve his own problem by just picking the one girl he wants to be his fiancee, but nothing is ever that simple...

Well, that's (almost) all the releases out for region 1 right now. Again, for those of you who don't live in region 1, feel free to post any info you want. Looking over these, I realized that FUNImation sure does give their DVDs a lot of bonus features. It make me wonder why Detective Conan & DBZ get such barebones discs.

I'll update this first post as news comes out or becomes dated.

Again, mods, you are all free to do whatever you want with this thread. You can sticky it, delete it if you feel you need to, anything.

Heh, well I guess that's something to be proud of.

Since discussion is going nowhere, I have a question that I forgot to ask when I originally posted. Is anyone here actually getting the One Piece DVDs? Like, to compare to the original version? To laugh at? To burn? Or maybe just to enjoy because I know there are actually a few fans of the dub on this forum.

There's already a One Piece comparison site. Although I'm sure no one wants to kill themselves and their wallets for the DVDs when they can do it for free on TV. It's the same thing only on DVD. :s

I approve of this thread.

BlueFlameCharizard

The Original Shiny Pokemon
I'm definitely getting the Astro Boy DVD coming out... Even though it's not completely subbed I'm still overly curious on what the very first anime series was like...

BTW, I'll be happy to help out if I can... I'm a little slow going now since I'm absurdly addicted to Final Fantasy XI on the 360, but I still look up information on series I'm interested in and other series I might get interested in. =]

They seemed to take quite a while to get the Howl's Moving Castle DVD out. Oh well. Ah, another Conan DVD. I've fallen behind in that area, though I saw all of those episodes on [as].

Awesome thread.

xoBcigaM
Well, the reason it took Howl's Moving Castle so long to come out is because Walt Disney Pictures likes releasing the Ghibli films in "waves". The previous wave consisted of My Neighbors The Yamadas and Pom Poko. Disney had to wait for My Neighbor Totoro and Whisper of the Heart to be completely dubbed and transferred to DVD so that they could be released alongside Howl's.

And thanks for the feedback, you guys. It's very much appreciated. :)

Also, since I can't edit the first post to add more releases (I didn't know we had a 50,000 character limit.), I guess I'll just post updates as I get 'em.

There are quite a few other shows that I have DVD news on, but I've never really heard of any of them and they're never discussed on these forums, so I'll skip those for now. Not to mention, I'm really tired of looking up DVD news and posting it right now. It's more boring than it looks.

I've never heard of it before now, but the animation looks cool, and after I do some research about it, I might check it out. Also, this Tuesday marks the release of many DVDs in this thread, including a few that aren't covered in it, like Fullmetal ALchemist: Volume 8, so be sure to get the ones you want!

Well, there you have it. I started at 6:40 and finally finished at 8:00. Children, the moral of the story is: if you don't get a life, you'll be doing what I just did. XD

Hope the updates are helping. The Naruto box set sounds amazing, and I can't wait to add it to my collection when it comes out. 'Til next update, happy collecting!

Wolf's Rain complete collection?

*heavens open up, daisies and roses spring forth from the ground, horses and donkies start dancing as angels sing 'Hallelujah!'*

Any idea how much it'll cost?

Two Banner of the Stars boxsets too, plus the Naruto boxset...hmm, all four or food for a month?

I read that the retail price will be $50, but you'll probably be able to find it cheaper in some places. I'm actually surprised they're releasing the complete collection so soon. It only came to America a little more than a year ago, didn't it?

Yes, it did. This is shockingly early. I also read that Samurai Champloo is getting a boxset in July, though I'm not sure if that's actually true.

Getting away from boxsets, have you heard anyting of Only Yesterday getting a DVD release?
