So, I'll be honest. I haven't watched the Poke'mon anime series since the third generation came out. I saw the first couple episodes, then that was it.

Well, I finally decided to try and watch DP Battle Dimension the other day, the episode "Get Your Rotom Running!" was playing, and I have quite the mixed reactions. xP

So I thought I'd ask, what are your impressions on the current anime? How do you feel about the quality of it? =0

DP is running smoothly. The story so far is the best since Kanto, at least I think so.

I like the overall animations, and the quality is ok.

I miss the old voice actors, but that's about it. Even then, the new voice actors have grown into their roles really well, and have been more about being the character rather than just sounding like the original but failing.

Personally, I think James' voice actor was the quickest to get into his new role. He did quite well in Sweet Baby James.

Other than that, just like the originals, without the nostalgia factor. I'm actually re-watching the whole series and making lists of episodes that I think are particularly good. At the end I'll weigh them against how many episodes are in that season, and see what it works out to. It's subjective, but an interesting experiment. (I'm toward closing on the end of the first Advanced season at the moment and the one with the least "favorite" makes is the first Johto season)

Well it's ok it has boring/stupid ''stalling'' episodes(cheers on castaway iland, sleepless in prebattle, A breed stampede, etc.)

A Breed Stampede! wasn't a stalling episode, also known as a filler, a Pokèmon evolved in it, that makes it a normal episode.

On Topic: I think the picture quality started to get a alot better from Season 5 onwards. The sound quality, probably a bit later than that, around Season 6-7.

I think DP's quality of the anime is really high even the dub is reasonable, i think they're finally trying a bit more to get it right.

DP is so great because there are hardly any fillers and the fillers that it does have are usually more interesting than Team Rocket attacking and failing.

In "Sleepless in Prebattle" Swinub evolved and it was a storyline from the games.

In "The Breed Stampede" Gliscor learned fire fang, Piloswine learned ancient power, became disobedient, and evolved. How anyone can consider this one a "stall/filler episode" is beyond me.

To be honest, in the entire Galactic Battle season the only fillers are "Cheers on Castaway Island" and the upcoming Team Rocket episode.

As someone who knows what's going to happen within in the next 20 episodes, let me tell you that there aren't many, if any, filler episodes coming.

Galactic Battle
1. The Rotom episode was technically a filler, but admit it. It was damn entertaining.
2. Read my comments about about "A Breed Stampede". It's not filler
3. Ash wins his 6th badge. Not filler.
4. Filler, but again, a pretty good one
5. Team Galactic. Not filler
6. See 5
7. Boring, crappy filler. Skip this one. Deoxys does make the end a bit interesting though
8. Interesting filler.

Okay, beynd here I will need to use spoiler tags since the episodes in question haven't aired in the US yet

[spoil]
9. Pachirisu learns super fang and wins Dawn her 4th ribbon. Not filler.
10. Officer Jenny speaks of Team Rovket being at the Whirl Islands. With the GSC remakes coming, could this be foreshadowing? Filler?
11. Interesting filler
12. Boring Team Rocket filler that I mentioned earlier
13. Staravia evolves, Ash beats Paul in a Pokeringer contest. Not filler
14. Mamoswine begins obeying Dawn. Not filler
15. Assuming the clip show is skipped: Grotle learns rock climb. Not filler
16. Piplup decides it does not want to evolve and recieves an ever stone. Not filler
17. Dawn loses a contest to Kenny. Not filler
18. Ambipom leaves the group. Not filler
19. The group get their Platinum clothes. Not filler
20. The group meet Candice and reunite with Zoey. Not filler
21. Ash wins his 7th badge. Not filler
22. Paul battles Brandon and loses badly. Not filler
23. Hunter J tries to catch Regigigas but Brandon and Ash stop her. Not filler
24. The group meet Looker
25. Ash vs Paul, 6 on 6. Paul's Magmar has evolved. Not filler
26. Chimchar evolves, Ash loses the battle badly. Not filler
27. Brock sees Uxie's shadow. Not filler
28. Mamoswine learns hidden power and begins training for contests. Not filler

Thank you for sharing your opinions so far everyone. I guess I just prefer the old cel-shading style as compared ot digital. Feels like a lot more heart goes into the artwork. I hate how much limited animation is used in it though, when they make a frame and scroll over itfrom left to right to fill time, rather than actually animating everyone you see in the shot.

I guess thats whats annoying me, is a lot of stuff seems half-assed. That, and I really don't see the point of them introducing a new female costar every generation. T.T

Diamond and Pearl is really the best series so far in my opinion. The filler episodes are usually enjoyable and the battles are really well done. Another great improvement is that the Pokémon on the main cast have personalities. My only problem is that Dawns rivals are a little boring when compared to May's rivals. Other than that, it's pretty cool.

ORAS is here!
As far as visual looks, it's terrible. Everything looks either one-toned or CGI! Personally, I think the entire Johto saga had the best looks - everything was watercolored! Compare a tree in the new DP series to one in Master Quest. The difference is shocking.

Yes, I'm still alive
i think all of the season's are fine, except the first diamond and pearl season.too many reruns, and nothing too interesting happens, then battle dimension was full of life

First off, that's the first episode of DP Galactic Battles, Secondly, that's one of the funniest episodes I've seen, English or Jap.

DP is so great because there are hardly any fillers and the fillers that it does have are usually more interesting than Team Rocket attacking and failing.

It was a laughly "bad" episode though, thankfully the dub title was actually more accurate than the Jap title, something that rarely happens.

In "The Breed Stampede" Gliscor learned fire fang, Piloswine learned ancient power, became disobedient, and evolved. How anyone can consider this one a "stall/filler episode" is beyond me.
I'm suspecting people are confusing the idea that if it isn't a gym battle episode, it's not an episode episode. If you get what I mean. However, that was a pretty good one.

Not a bad track record.

[insert list of episodes, of which 2 are actually fillers]
First off, wow, we're almost at the good stuff. And I'm rather impressed by how well the pacing is going this time; it took CN a while to get it right.

Also, as someone who has seen pretty much every episode thus far (bar a couple of Johto League Champions episodes), I can say that the overall content quality has drastically improved. At first glance, yes the "standard" episodes do still have the same old Team Rocket interferences, but I'm certain that nowadays, most fans are okay with that. Rather, it's far more interesting to see how they'll affect the episode and to see that more thought has gone into what happens with them than in the past.

Not only that, but basic episodes in general seem to be more "thought out" and I think that may have something to do with the fact that games themselves got an overall boost in quality. I mean, if a game gets a boost in both visual and storyline (as much story as Pokemon as a series can have), then it's only fair that the show does the same if only to promote the games it's based off of.

That's my view.

To me, Sinnoh is great, better than Kanto in some ways and worse in others. But it was of course better than Johto and much better than Hoenn which I thought was the downfall of the anime. But when Sinnoh came out and went along, I was amazed they made the rebound, at least to me it is.

In Honest opinion, I don't really pay attention to it since Mid-Battle Frontier. Before then, my attention rose during the Johto Series, and I liked the Advanced one the best.

I'm mostly satisfied with D/P quality. The storyline is okay but I personally think it's all a bit too predictable. Then again, most of the interesting ones haven't reached U.S yet.

I think that the improvement in quality can at least partially be attributed to the the fact that the show is more closely paralleling the games, which always had a good plot. Instead of going completely solo plot wise and ending up giving a bunch of useless filler.

As for the show, I thouroghly enjoy it, battles are better, filler are more intelligent. ;025;
