You will be missed:(
Deespite the fact that I'm 21, I'm seriously considering heading to JAA. I'm not competing, but I will be getting a Celebii and maybe finding a few trades.

But still, I'm 21. And I'm going to a pokemon convention, something that 80% of aduts consider kids entertainment.

I was wondering if any of you who are 18 or older had the courage to head down there when it was in your hometown?

If I had the resources to go I would. I'm 20 and I have my things. Pokemon is like any others anime. I would go to the convention and problaly tell everyone I was going but I would also run a TCG tournament if I could. It's for the kids if any thinks it's weird although all my friends know pokemon is my expertise. Everyone's been to some kind of con they just don't admit unless they think it's "popular"

I'm 18 and I'll be heading to the JAA coming up this Saturday in West Covina. :) My friend and I are going. (He's 17, so that's close enough. :p) I'll be competing in the tournament, but I'm most likely going to lose, just...because. :p

So yeah, no matter how old you are, you can still like things that are considered to be only for "kids". :p

I'm 21 and I live in Kentucky. I'm going to the one in Chicago. And I'm gonna compete. What pokemon are you guys using and what levels are they one?

I'm 19 and I would go there if it's close to my hometome or in my hometown. Unfortunately, I missed three events that are around 100 miles away from my hometown.

I'm 17, live in the UK so unfortunatly, I can't go :(

But if you like something and you think its for kids then its obviously not just for kids because you like it. There is no label saying "this is only for kids"

I'm almost 22 and I'd love to go to a Pokemon Convention. Mostly for the toys, as I'm not that into competetive battling, or the card game... just the toys, and maybe a chance to pick up the 8th movie in Japanese. (in case the dub sucks)

You shouldn't feel too embarassed about it. :3 A surprising amount of us here are either adults, or in our late teens. I'm sure there will be a lot of adults at the convention, who are not just there to keep watch over their kids. Goodness knows plenty of those Adult Poke-fans wont even have kids yet.

I went to the one in Arlington recently, and while I myself am only 15, I noticed there were a LARGE amount of older fans there, I was quite shocked. It's nothing to be ashamed of, odds are there will be more people in your age demographic then there will be little kids.

Well, sort of. I'm 20 and planning on going. However I'm taking my brother (who is 10) So I'm using the excuse that I'm his gaurdian to enjoy all of the attractions at JAA
Without my brother, I seriously doubt I would go. I'm sure alot of parents wouldn't appreciate me attempting to trade or battle with their children. Looks kind of strange.
haha

Hey Blackjack, I'm heading to the one in portland as well. I'm 22. My 19 year old friend is going with me, and maybe my girlfriend (she already knows i'm a dork 8D ). Are you participating in the tourney? If so, good luck.

Maybe we'll see you there. In any case, have fun.

I had a question, are we able to download all of the pokemon while we're there? *EDIT: I found the answer (yes) in another thread :) very cool

The cool thing is most kids don't know how to play when they enter the contest.Proberly got their starter and some legendaries on lv. 100 and using same attacks all over again, so ive you wanna go there to win i would defintly try it I think you got a good chance. And about the trading with kids i think parents wouldn't mind it ive you traded with them because i think every kid above 13 is smart enough for trading and know what the'll get in return.

btw: i'm 14 years old myself and come from The Netherlands so i can't go =( and it would also explain why i ain't good at english :p

have fun!

Actually the copetitions are dvided by age. There's 12 and under, and 13 and older. And you'd be damned surprised, I got my *** kicked by some girl that could't have been more than 12, maybe 13, in a link battle.

o_O My god man grow a SPINE. You're at a Pokemon convention, the entire point of Pokemon is--OMG!--trading and battling. Unless you're wearing a Hello Kitty shirt and asking small children to sit on your knee and call you 'Daddy', I seriously doubt there's going to be many, if any, miffed parents. Hell, the kids aren't even that amazingly chaperoned from what I saw, there was maybe...two dozen parents actually walking the festival for 100 or so children. Most of the parents just sat on a bench and read a magazine, pausing occasionally to make sure no one had stuffed their child in a duffel bag and sold them to mexico.

Besides, the kids are pretty outgoing. All you have to do is stand there, they'll come to you and ask to battle/trade. Not like the parents can call you a creep if it was little Timmy who wanted your totodile or Susie that decided who stomp you with her 00ber Torchic of deum.

If I was a parent and I saw that my child was conversing with an ADULT when the convention is clearly aimed at children, I would be very concerned. What are you talking about "grow a spine"... I'm simply taking other people's concerns into consideration. Trust me, there are people sick enough to attempt to trick children into going with them just so they can abduct them. Imagine for a second, someone saying "Hey, I forgot my other game pack in the car, why don't you help me look for it. I'm sure it's got that deoxys I was going to trade you." . Yeah theres kids stupid enough to believe it.

and um.. errr "raping things" what the hell?

Yeah, but not every adult who takes an interest in childrens' things is a molester. They give us "Peter Pans" a bad name.

Becides, I'll bet they only pretend to have an interest in those things, in order to get to the kids. Not like us who *really* are interested in Pokemon.

I'll be going to the Portland one with my 8-year old nephew. I'll probably breed up a bunch of Chimechos ;358; for trades too since those are such a pain to find.

I've thought about it, but no, probably not. Most of my good Pokemon are only at level 50, and I don't have the time to get them to 100. Celebi and the garbage rounding out the Top 20 aren't much incentive either.

The only legitimate reasons I can think of going for are to meet fellow fans and maybe find someone willing to give me a Leichi berry. With gas prices on the rise, just getting there would be murder on my current funds, so I don't think it's worth it at the moment.
