Hey there! I started working at a local Sainsbury's a few months ago and have been in full on savings mode since. I've been buying parts for my new PC over this time too and it's almost all here - I'm pretty sure it should all work but this is my first build so I'm not totally confident! Here's the parts list:

Ryzen 5 2600X
Corsair 16GB Vengeance LPX 3200
Asus B450-F Motherboard (I think this is right?)
EVGA 1070 Graphics Card
Corsair RM650x Power Supply
NZXT H400i

Will it all work and is there any settings I need to do to make it work properly/any better than it will just plugging it all in and turning it on?

Yeah, all that should work together, though you didn't specifically list any storage. I'd recommend an M.2 SSD for your OS and games/programs, and then just pick up a cheap hard drive for regular data (pictures, documents, etc.)

You may also need thermal paste, your CPU does come with a cooler but I'm not sure if the paste is pre-applied or not.

I sort of made your parts list. This website (PCPartPicker) lets you pick your computer parts and automatically lists components that are compatible with your previous selections. It should certainly help. Also, like Hydrohs said, I too recommend what he said about a SSD/HDD combo. You don't really need a M.2 though unless you really want to. I think the Ryzen 2600X comes with an AMD CPU cooler though.

Researching parts is lots of fun, building slightly less so, especially when you think you have everything and then you don’t.
