A ton of types need to get buffed, such as Poison and Bug. Ghost shouldn't be buffed, but it lacks variety in Pokémon.

    ...Bug?

Surely you are referring to a different Bug-type from another and not a the Pokemon type that includes some of the most lethal Pokemon. But yes. Poison is laughably bad.

I guess so. At first the poison types may seem intimidating but for me, they're the weakest type and I have never used a Poke from this typing in my team. So yeah, I guess if ever there is a 6th gen and I could make it by then, hope to see better poison types. Many poison attacks are good enough though.

Many bugs are produtocers of poison in real life.

Meh. I don't think it needs any improvement, none of them do.

I wish that Bug was weak to Poison again. That was a type match-up that actually made sense and I have no idea why they got rid of it.

Ya.You don't see a lot of people using posion or grass types anymore.

    Excitable Boy is a metaphor

Which would kind of defeat the purpose of having an advantage.

When I say few resists, I mean few types resist it. Pokemon who resist are resists.

    No. Poison kills everything.

And about what last poster said: Resists are types that are not very effective against it: Flyig resists grass...

I don't think bug type needs a buff, but I do agree with you about ghost types. They're pretty powerful, but there should be more. As for poison types, I think a good solution would be similar to ghost types, by adding more Pokemon with good stats that match they're moves.

Poison type is not actually that bad. Game Freak needs to give some poison types better move sets and stats to make them more useful. Toxic spikes is a the only status inducing entry hazard so unless your spinner is steel or poison they are getting poisoned. Nearly all of the poison type attacks have a chance at poisoning the foe. Drapion's dark/poison typing is great with only 2x ground weakness. Whirlwind/toxic spikes/cross poison/filler move lets you phase out pokemon and poison the enemy team. It's too bad Drapion doesn't have a better SpA stat because it would be nice to use Venoshock with that set. However sniper and cross poison make a good combo.

Poison type may need a boost but I think GF needs to make better poison type pokemon. Give them better stats and better move sets and I think we will see poison types get used more frequently.

Poison types typically are bulky to compensate for a lack of offense. And being immune to Toxic and Toxic Spikes while being able to use moves that replicate Toxic while adding some damage isn't too bad.

The problem is with the flimsier Poison types with limited move sets.

What we need is a Poison/Steel dual type, but we'll never get it. They're afraid of its raw power. Also I'm having a hard time coming up with what it looks like, though given the trend in monster design I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to give us "the syringe pokemon."

Poison type is one of the best specialist to induces poison on target by Poison Point ability, poison moves or Toxic.

When poison happens, poison types usually use Double Team, Minimize, Protect, Attract, Confuse Ray, Swagger, etc.

As any other type, there are always walls to poison types: psychic or ground enemies, immunity Pokemons or steel, poison types.

    Poison is a defensive type.
Resistance to Fighting, especially in the Fighting type-filled Generation 5 meta-game, is a wonderful thing to have.

Steel being immune to Poison doesn't sound logical to me though. Acid corrodes steel, doesn't it?
Though I am all for Poison being Super-effective against Water. Or maybe Fighting. As a body (representing Fighting types) can be easily worn down by slow but effective poisoning.

I just wanna point out that you cannot talk about balance between offense and defense of a type.

I mean, just because Ice and Rock for example are amazing offensive types, it does not justify for their defense to be utter crap (especially in the case of Ice).

Because offense and type coverage is not dependant on the Pokemons type, besides getting a STAB.
You'll want Ice/Rock/Fighting/Ground moves on your Pokemon REGARDLESS OF ITS TYPE. You're not locked into your own type.

Defense on the other hand is set in stone type-wise.
If you're Ice... Well sucks to be you.

And that's what I think needs fixing much more than what types moves are any use.

Poison types can all resort to other moves if they want to dish out super-effective hits, but Ice types cannot change the fact that many common types destroy them, rendeing defensive Ice pokemon a joke at best.

I do think both should be addressed though, just pointing out that defense is much more crucial on the type chart than offense.

IMO, if Gamefreak ever decided to make changes
    http://veekun.com/dex/types
No type should have anything below 0 in the bottom row.
And to ensure moves of all types are useful at least in some degree, the right column should not have anything lower than -3, besides Normal.

Poison would be a great walling type if they had moves designed to counter Ground types.

Most of them have good Sp Def so Psychics aren't THAT problematic.

psychic types have a ton of sp attacking power to counter it tho i agree with poison having more advantages. If not I'll ignore catching poison types... unless it's a gengar £:

The poison type should definitely improve! Whatever altercations it has however should be decided by Gamefreak!

im not a poison type fan but i agree that poison type need to be buffed. it is only super effective against grass and many grass types have secondary typing that neutralises poison's effectiveness on them. oh and we really need a poison legendary pokemon.
