Who's ready to make sixty dollars!? ^ And about the cake, it comes from the game Portal which is what I presume this RPG to be based on also. Basically it's a nonexistant motivator. The character you play in the game is promised cake for finishing tests but in reality there is no cake hense the phrase "the cake is a lie". If you don't understand other things, it's also probably from the game. Like combustible lemons.

Family and Friends: Manny, who is supposedly involved in another branch of Aperture Science.
Personality: Fur is a slightly reserved yet incredibly stubborn girl. Her will is what drives her and it’s founded upon some pretty decent morals. Manny being a devout Christian was able to influence Fur and her beliefs. She is indeed also a faithful follower of Christ. She is not one to lie, steal, or treat another person wrongly. Most of the time. She does have a bad habit of being sarcastic when irritated and she gets irritated often. When things don’t go the way she wants it’s a furrowed brow and sassy comments.
Still, Fur is quite amiable. With strangers, she stays to herself and even with friends she’s mostly withdrawn. She isn’t one for showing emotions, but this hardly means she’s heartless. She’s passionate for the broken-hearted and is very understanding to those who suffer. She can always lend a wise word for people struggling in any situation. Wise and mature for her age, she isn’t much of the creative, awe filled child most would expect. Her heart has been tamed and she has to take care of herself. In the orphan business, it’s everyone for their self.
Appearance: Fur is a short, young girl, maybe four and a half feet tall. Her body hasn’t matured to those luscious adult curves yet, and she only weighs around eighty pounds. Fur usually wears whatever she can scrounge up. On this occasion, she has a simple pair of short, tan khakis. They’re baggy, a size or two too big, and have bunches of pockets. In them she carries a bit of money, a pocket knife, a cell phone, a bottle cap, and a few other trinkets she uses to help get by. Up top she has a similarly baggy green t-e-e with a picture of a cutesy cartoon owl. A golden cross necklace hangs at the shirt collar, a gift from Manny as well as a silver anklet.
History: Failure clearly did not receive much loves from her parents. All they ever wanted was a reaction out of her, whether it was through praise or abuse. When Failure learned to lack an emotional response, her parents simply gave up on her and dropped her on the side of the street a week after her third birthday nine years ago today. She was not the least bit sad to see her apathetic caretakers leave. Unfortunately, this left her with no form of nourishment at all in the middle of London. For a while, she begged on the streets and in shops for money, food, and a place to stay.
After two months of living like this, Failure stumbled upon a young man working at a bar. They took a liking to one another immediately. Manny was his name and he was moving from job to job, house to house. He rolled with the punches and didn’t stay in one place for too long. When he met Failure, he suggested a nickname, Fur, and connected with her like she was his little sister. So the two lived and worked together for years. They moved from city to city, and eventually, country to country.
A few weeks ago after Fur’s birthday, working at a beach in California, Manny received an invitation to test with Aperture Sciences’ Heimlich-Counter-Maneuver. Fur wasn’t included, but she suggested he go. When he didn’t return after a month, Fur became homeless, but more importantly, worried. She got access to Aperture’s website which didn’t help much. There was a very confusing web layout and suddenly she found herself applying to the Aperture Science Psychological Testing Initiative. Hopefully, she’ll find Manny along the way.
Other: Fur has a problem with her eyes so she can see better in the dark, but bright lights bother her. She’s also gymnastically inclined, able to perform flips, rolls, and other fun maneuvers. She has an allergy to berries and is a bit of a techie. She’s never been to school, but has street smarts and a bit of a British accent.

He was adopted by a scientist named Professor Sigmund who needed an extra hand in his projects for his employers, and trained him to be the mechanical genius he is today. Sigmund worked at Aperture Science but was fired due to budget cuts. Angered, Sigmund lended his brilliant mind to the Black Mesa Science Personnel. Sigmund retired from Black Mesa when John was about 7, he was fired from Aperture before he was adopted, and John was adopted at age 3. John has never had any friends because he was almost never taken out of the Black Mesa lab.
Personality: John has little to no manners and isn't very "street" due to being raised in a science lab but he is an expert on all things science. He is easily angered and always gets angry at regular people for their stupidity. He talks very little but is a good listener (as long as what your saying isn't too "stupid") He tends to over think simple things and associate them with many scientific terms. On sight of anything strange he'll examine it with intense care, and almost always getting all the contents contained in it exactly right. He trusts no one unless he knows them for a long time (like Sigmund). He tends to be bossy, which is sometimes good because he is a great leader, but of course some people may find it annoying. His hair is as black as charcoal and his eyes are a deep dark chocolate brown and his left hand is bright red because of an accident in the lab.

The Myers-Briggs system may also be useful in determining personality archetype. The personality should be padded out a fair bit, with whatever you can add.

OOC: I guess I should make the loud noise thing for Zach more specific. Most people experience pain from sound at 125 decibels (like a gunshot.) Zach gets sound pain at 95 decibels (like a subway train.) If he is exposed to anything above 130 decibels for more than five seconds he will shut down. What I mean by shut down is that he will cover his ears and get in a fetal position.
This is a realistic reaction as I have done this in the past when I was little and my ears were super sensitive. I don't do it anymore since my ears aren't as sensitive but I feel that it's still a viable reaction to sound that is just too loud to handle.

Hair-color, skin tone, height, weight (or body shape), more descriptive clothing (I could say that he doesn't wear pants, and nothing in the description would contradict me. Family and Friends: a Father who worked for a rival company, two best friends Miranda and James.
Personality: Rick is a man who is connected to his inner child, so to speak. He prefers to have fun over doing work or "tests", however, he learned of the testing here and felt that something like this might be fun. He is also very laid back, usually not understanding the dangers that he is in, not just from the tests, but life in general. Rick does befriend people relatively quickly and his naivety sometimes gets the best of him. In other words, he can be easily tricked to do some of the more dangerous things. He is a good friend and would not betray those he is close to without proper reason.
Despite all this, Rick also is seen talking to himself a lot. He usually tries to practice his greetings and whatnot beforehand, even if the other party is present. Rick also has a few insecurities as far as privacy. He feels that he is being watched at all times sometimes, which in this case may be more true than ever. He does not like it when people pry too much into his history, despite not having a dark past or any truly menacing secrets, he just prefers the privacy.
Appearance: Rick is a tall 6'11". He is relatively thin including his arms and legs which can be compared to as 'noodles'. He does not appear to be strong physically. Rick keeps his brown hair a mess almost all the time, so it sticks up in various places. His clothes are a dark blue shirt with a black oval near the chest, a pair of denim jeans that have been worn, and a pair of white tennis shoes with black soles. He started to be friendly to others, but one day, his father and he moved because the branch of the company that Rick's father worked for was being shut down, so they had to move. The move was not that far away, so Rick kept in touch with Miranda. After a couple of months in his new high school, Rick befriended another guy who would become his best friend at this school, James.
Soon, Rick graduated high school and moved into an apartment of his own near his old school. He found out that a company (ASPTI) was working on some tests and decided to check it out. This company was a rival (well more like a predator at this point) to the scientific company that Rick's father worked at, but he thought that something like this would give him a better understanding of the rivalry between the two companies and perhaps he could use this to also better his father's workplace too, learning from the same pool that he was going to be part of. Age: 19
Family and Friends: Her family is a small and simple one, with a (dead) father and a (living) mother who were both investigators. She has three friends named Mark, Emily, and Dorian who she sometimes works with to solve crimes.
Personality: An outgoing young woman who seems to be a little more childish than she should be, Adriana decides to enjoy life and not mope over it. The fun-loving nature she has allows her to be generally a good person to go to. Her outlook on life is usually optimistic unless, obviously, when sad. Her sadness is usually caused by missing her father at a young age.
Adriana's approach on work is basically "charge in, examine everything later" because of her impulsive nature. However, she puts on a more serious attitude toward her job than most things, only allowing some fun through. She's famous among the other detectives of the agency for her ability to improvise if something goes wrong. With a boundless imagination, Adriana believes that even the impossible might be true, and therefore is able to present a number of explanations during an investigation. But her impulsiveness can also sometimes get the better of her; this is the explanation of most of her failed cases.
Appearance: Adriana is five foot eight, the about-average height for her age (if I'm right.) Adriana has somewhat-pale skin and average complexion. Her hair is straight and short and has a brownish-blackish color. Her blue eyes stand out from her clothes, which are often a plaid t-shirt (any light color) accompanied with light brown shorts and chocolate-colored boots. As an accessory she carries around a messenger bag that contains 'vital items'. Usually it's just her cellphone and any evidence she thinks she needs.
She is allergic to peanuts and the like, and cannot eat anything with any form of nut in it. Other than that, her health is just fine, and she can run fairly quickly if she needs to.
History: The detective agency her parents owned in the city also served as Adriana's home in her childhood years. (In fact, it still does.) She grew up with her parents, observing how they and their colleagues solved crimes so adeptly and wanting to follow in their shoes. When her father died, both she and her mother were devastated, but it also drove Adriana even more to pursue the detective role. In school, the best grade she'd ever recieved was a B plus, but she considered that fact unimportant and tried to get the job anyway. Becoming friends with the children of the other detectives, Mark, Emily, and Dorian (mentioned earlier) the four of them inherited their parents' jobs after graduating and began to work together to solve crimes if needed.
At most, Adriana's mysteries were usually small and never major, like "who stole the woman's purse" and things like that. Until one day, Dorian's father suddenly disappeared. This shocked all the people at the agency, and they decided to begin an investigation. But because everyone else was already preoccupied, Adriana was the one who got the task of finding him.
Naturally, Adriana was in shock. She'd never been assigned a major case before, and she knew that if she solved this one, she'd be worthy of more. She would be famous, or so she thought. In a hurry she investigated his room and found a mysterious slip of paper labeled "Aperture Science". Believing that it would lead her to the man in question, she hurriedly signed up for it. In her rush she didn't read all the information, and had no idea what was in store for her- if she survived, of course.
Other: Though her main motivation is to solve the case of Dorian's father's disappearance, the promise of cake allures her as well since she has quite the sweet tooth.
