THE GREAT RETURN
Sign-ups are currently closed. However, let me know if you're interested in joining, and I'll notify you if a slot opens.
Hola all. I am an experienced RP writer, and I actually tried doing this same RP several years ago, under a different account. Just rejoined the forums here, and decided to give it another try.
RULES
Please read before posting
1) All normal SPP rules should be followed, of course.
2) When signing up, make sure to use the character sheet I provide. Your character will not be accepted otehrwise.(for tips on filling out a character sheet well, check out Psychic's advice thread.
3) Absolutely NO godmodding or attempts to control other players' characters, unless I have been personally notified that you have permission to do so by the owner of that character.
4) No attempts to change the plot will be allowed, outside what I set up. If you wish to take a part of the story in a certain direction, or want your character to do something that does so, ask my permission first.
5) No Mary-sues or Gary-stus.
6) All moves and locations must be legit.
7) During battles, adhere more to anime logic than game-strict logic. Don't have your Pokemon naturally learn any absurd moves or have it evolve in your second post, though.
8) Stay active. I understand life gets in the way sometimes, but I'm not letting that hold back the progress of the RP. I'll expect at least 2 posts a week in the RP thread. If you fail to do this, you get two reminders before you are kicked out of the RPG. At that point, your character will be given to any other player who wants to take it on. If nobody does at that time, I will take it myself.
9) Keep it PG-13. Light swearing and gore is okay, but nothing beyond that.
10) There will be a total of 8 player slots open(myself included), but if it takes a while we can start with 5 or 6. Sign-ups will remain open until all slots are filled with active players.
11) It's generally okay to have some Pokemon be found in routes outside of where they live in the games, but keep it logical. No wurmples in the desert, or any Pokemon that can't be found in Hoenn. Also, keep in mind the factors of New Mauville and the safari zone. These places have become run-down, and Pokemon very well might have escaped from them into the surrounding areas. So electric-types in Mauville city and safari zone Pokemon in route 121 are to be expected.
12) No finding/catching legendaries. The legendary Pokemon of Hoenn all play into the story at some point, so leave that be until I bring them into it.
13) What I say goes. If you have a bone to pick with a decision I make, and my decision doesn't violate any of the rules I have laid out here, than tough cookies. I don't mean to sound overly harsh here, but I've had trouble with this in the past, so I want to make sure I've covered all my bases here.
The Story
August 2005(17 years ago)
-camera fuzz-
Female reporter appears onscreen. In the distance behind her is Mt. Pyre, against an evening sky.
"In the three months since the attacks by the criminal orginizations Team Magma and Team Aqua, natural disasters have begun occuring in the area around the port city of Lilycove. The seeming central point of these happenings is Mt. Pyre, a monumental burial grounds for Pokemon, which is-"
Ground shakes. Camera shakes, reporter stumbles.
"And...um, well it looks like we have some prime examples of the kind of disturbances the citizens of Lilycove have been fac-"
The ground shaking ceases. In the distance, a beacon of white light blasts from teh top of Mt. Pyre, into the sky.
"What the hell...? Ty, are you getting this?!"
Light continues shooting into the sky. As the reporter and cameraman back away, Mighteyena howls can be heard in the distance. The sound of fast running, and a loud growl. Seemingly out of nowhere, a Mighteyena barks and lunges at the cameraman. The camera is knocked out of his hand, and falls onto the ground, lens pointed sideways at the ground. Sounds of a scuffle, screams and shouts. A splatter of blood on the ground. the body of the cameraman falls onto the ground, only his arm visible. It has deep claw marks.
Camera static. Tape cuts out.
May 2022(now)
17 years ago, not long after the events of Pokemon Emerald, an event happened. Nobody is exactly sure what happened, but what is known is this:
On August 13th, 2005, the mainland of Hoenn was caught in the grip of a ripple of tremors, that moved throughout thre region from near Lilycove City. Soon after, all hell broke loose. The mainland's wild Pokemon went feral, attacking humans viciously and relentlessly. Natural disasters began striking teh mainland daily. Within a week, Oldale, Littleroot, and Verdanturf were declared completely dispopulated. Within two months, correspondence from the mainland had been cut off from all areas except Rustboro, Slateport and Fortree. Within a year, the mainland was declared unsafe for any human population whatsoever. By this point, however, there were no known survivors. The feral Pokemon had claimed the land.
Now, the only residents of Hoenn resided on the island towns of Mosdeep, Sootopolis, Dewford, and Pacifidlog. Now and again, surveyers would be sent to the mainland, in the vain hope that things had changed.
And then, on March 24th, 2022, they did. The feral tendencies of the mainland's Pokemon had vanished. The disasters had ceased. The news reached the islands, and plans began to take form for the future of the region. Surveyers confirmed that the mainland was safe. It was decided that before settlers would be sent to the mainland, reconstruction teams would be sent out. These would consist of construction workers, sent to rebuild and salvage what could be salvaged of the cities, and Pokemon trainers, sent to pioneer the expanses of the Hoenn mainland for those who would settle there.
You play as one of those trainers. Your duty is to explore the mainland, find new adventures and Pokemon, and find out what you can about what happened to trigger the events of what had come to be known as the Hoenn apocalypse.
Character sign-up sheet
Name:
Age: (Between 13 and 19)
Gender:
Physical description: (Both physical appearence and clothes should be covered here. If you have reference art for your character, that's fine too)
Home island: (Dewford, Sootopolis, Mosdeep, or Pacifidlog. NOTE: If you choose Sootopolis or Mosdeep, your character will be traveling to the Lilycove port. Pacifidlog or Dewford, Slateport port.)
Starter: (This is dictated by your island of choice. In the games, some islands have more wild Pokemon than others, but I've narrowed it down to keep the number of choices even from all the islands. Your choices: Dewford: Makuhita, Aron, Sableye, or Mawile. Pacifidlog: Corsola, Wailmer, Tentacool, Wingull. Mosdeep: Zubat, Snorunt, Spheal, Staryu. Sootopolis: Chinchou, Geodude, Relicanth, Clamprel.)
Character description: (your character's history, and reasons for going to the mainalnd)
Character personality: (solid paragraph, please)
For example, here's my character's sheet:
Name: Kaiser "Kai" Knott
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Physical description: Slighty shorter than average, average build. Shaggy dark brown hair, light brown eyes. Somewhat narrow-looking face, but handsome. Wears a red headband, light-and dark brown-striped hoodie. Preferrs loose-fitting jeans and shirts.
Home island: Mosdeep
Starter: Snorunt, "Maizy"
Character description: Kai was born in Lilycove, and left for Mosdeep with his mother when he was only a few weeks old. His Father, an elite trainer, was called by the government to stay on the mainland to guard the cities against the feral Pokemon. Kai grew up hearing stories about his father's courage, and although he knew he was dead, Kai always held on to some absurd hope that maybe his father was still alive, just for the sake of being able to meet him. This is not the main reason Kai wishes to go to the mainland, however. Kai has always aspired to be a great trainer, despite his mother's dissaproval. He is going mostly for the sake of being able to fulfill what he wants to do with his future.
Character personality: Kai is a social person, slightly awkward with new people but generally kind and nice. He often takes a lot of his opinion of people from first impressions and conversations, and can become unintentionally judgemental at times. Despite this, Kai tries to be as outgoing and kind to his fellow trainers as he can. Kai always tries to keep a cool head in battle, but sometimes gets ahead of himself.
