Protean is an adjective. It says its forte is "protean, ninja-like battling".

I bet Lucario is just learning a new move. It's completely weird to just shoehorn a new look when they only got...one unimportant battle with not enough time. They had their chance with Bea where it could have been the best place to be, but nada.

People really don’t get it do they. Protean being used as an adjective (meaning versatile/adaptable) is not the same as the ability being Protean. Nothing’s been retconned, stop jumping to absurd conclusions.

Ash was meant to capture final Pokémon before the Master 8, but is too late now. Cause every-time I want to Ash to catch some, but is just Goh, Goh, Goh. And I got upset.

Yeeeeeeeeeah, that's also the thing. Unless it's Pikachu, Ash simply drops the best ones/can't use them anymore despite getting a power boost before the saga ends.
