Perhaps I shouldn't have used XY(Z) as an example, and I apologize for that. The whole point is, I'm tired of Ash being this special snowflake who gets singled out by some entity to save the world, and one of his Pokemon gets some special power (Ash-Greninja, Infernape's boosted Blaze ability, etc.). It's cliche at this point. And I really don't want to see SM head in that direction.Yeah, I see what you mean, and I agree. What I meant was that XY(Z) didn't really have Ash singled out for greatness by a Legendary (like some are assuming the Tapus are/will be doing). I mean, it's not like Squishy actively searched him out for his help (or anyone else for that matter). They just happened to stumble across it and over time it became intrigued enough by them to stick around. And even then Ash wasn't the who bonded with it; Bonnie was.
He was kind of singled out for greatness in Olympia's prophecy, I will admit, but like I said before, he wasn't the only one. Professor Sycamore and the TRio were "foreseen" as well
Like I said, I really hope everyone else here is right, and Tapu Lele's appearance was nothing more than foreshadowing the Akala arc. There still needs to be some catalyst to drive Ash to take on the Akala Island Trials, though.
I could see him telling his classmates about Tapu Lele at the end of the episode. Kiawe would probably recognize Lele immediately since he lives on Akala Island, and Lillie might because she's booksmart. But since he's still clearly on Melemele Island in SM21, even if he does tell them about Lele, it's still not enough of a catalyst.
