I do wonder how long Magearna has been stashed in Mohn's old room. Odd that this episode has some sort of tie-in to Pokémon GO, but it may be Special Research for Magearna. It might seem early for this, but Niantic can be unpredictable. Guess we'll have to wait and see what TPCi and Niantic has in store for us on this episode and the Pokémon GO application.

Glad Lillie is finally getting to show off her z move here. Not sure what I expect/how to feel about Magearna, but nonetheless I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

In other words, I don't know how earning Stoutland's "respect" qualified it as "earning a Z-ring" without being incredibly unfair to the other students, who apparently couldn't do anything to get as fancy of a prize for working with their Stoutland. Just the convenient choosing of the most difficult one, leading to the whole "I know where this really cool item is, now that I 'like' you"

Actually, Lana chose the disobidient Stoutland on purpose to challenge herself and managed to earn its respect. Stoutland conviniently finding Z ring can be considered as a reward for taming the stoutland.

I stated before I wanted Lillie to have a Poni Island Z-Ring to match Ash's Melemele, Kiawe and Lana's Akala, and Gladion and Team Rocket's Ula'ula Z-Rings.

Sadly, it seems they're picking a different option and giving her a somewhat original design. One with what looks like a watch strap? The Sparkling Stone is white like the SM Melemele Z-Ring, though, so I guess it could be that.

Here's a comparison for a regular Z-Ring. (Well, Z-Power Ring, but the only difference between them and a regular Z-Ring is color and the Sparkling Stones on the front.)

That has to be the worst z-ring design ever... it looks like a watch, not a z-ring!

It's hard to complain when the people who don't have a Z-Ring is in fact the minority in this series (even Team freaking Rocket has one) and most of the ways they were "earned" were pretty spurious since they are largely randomly discovered artefacts or offered by the island deities, so it's not exactly 'special snowflake' syndrome like the AshGreninja synchronisation or something.

My concern is more how much use Lillie will have of a Z-Ring to demonstrate it as a worthwhile investment to give her character, especially since she likely only has about thirty episodes to utilise it. Ash and Kiawe at least proved they could put their Z-Ring to good use since they get some occasional decent battles that require them and other ongoing story influence, while Lana and Team Rocket have barely put any distinctive agency into their Z-Ring despite having it for almost half a series now.

Same as Lana and the TRio. Once during the Mohn arc then it's like she doesn't even have it unless they give her Fairynium since it looks like she might just be going down the Fairy specialist path after all if they give her Magearna.
I wish they treated z-moves like they did with Megas up to the League in XY, you barely saw any and most of them didn't even appear. Megas were a rare occurrence and not handed out like z-crystals as if it were an Oprah meme! It's disgusting how Mallow and Soph are excluded, it's like if Ash and Serena had Megas but Clemont didn't! If a majority of the cast is getting special stuff, then the whole cast should.

Team Rocket getting one at least made sense as otherwise the whole TR vs TS thing would be stupidly one sided like their interaction with every other team in the anime's history. Which got stale long before they fought Team Flare! But everyone else didn't need one apart from Ash and Kiawe, their goals revolve around battling. Lana's doesn't.

We are so back Zygardebros
Seeing Magearna’s souless body was creepy. So she does have to battle to keep the Z Ring: I’m ok with that

The first half of this episode is going to be Lillie and Gladion looking for clues for Mohn and the second will be Lillie using her Z-Move. The Soul Heart stuff will more than likely be saved for the upcoming episodes.

I really wonder if the PokePelago will be in the anime. It’d be odd for no one in Alola seemingly knowing about a whole archipelago of islands surrounding the region.

Oh and, how did Lillie, let alone Gladion or Lusamine forget about a Magearna that played with them as kids?
Maybe they didn't? My second thought after seeing that image was that it's a drawing by her father, of Lillie playing with a Pokemon that he created, maybe so that she wouldn't feel lonely when both of them are too busy. The drawing doesn't necessarily imply that it was a sketch of something that once happened.

Well Lillie did say that she couldn't remember her father's voice as she was too young. Its the same idea.

Remember, the kids said that they never asked their mother anything about their dad because it made her sad and it was best if they didn't bring it up. Gladion and Lusamine probably buried the memories of Magearna.

I'm curious to know where Rowlet and Meltan are. Clearly Ash's other Pokemon are all eager to eat their food, but why not the ones that actually like to binge? The only thing I could think of is that Meltan has got itself into trouble and Rowlet is trying to stop it from doing whatever it is that it's doing, like when it tried to eat the frying pan. Also, since the others are here, they're probably going to be shown at the school and maybe they convince Lillie to help Gladion in his search for information about their father.
