AR Pokemon Ruby Competition Question

Ok, my brother is giving me his copy of Ruby for free. The only problem is that he has used Action Replay codes on it. What I would like to know is if the game is permanently screwed up for sompetitive play (ie: Nintendo sanctioned events) or if I reset it if it will be fine.

I would also like to know that if it is not acceptable for Nintendo events if trading anything from it to my Leaf Green game will make it unable to enter Nintendo events by corrupting it's data (making it look like I used a Gameshark or the like).
