It's... weird. They said core title or somesuch, but have also elsewhere referred to it as a title for newcomers rather than the hard(er?)core audience. It feels like they were trying to market it as both a spin off and main title, which is just confusing.

They are officially confirmed to be main series games. If your wondering which games are considered main series here is a breakdown by generation:

Pokémon Red, Green & Blue
Pokémon Yellow

Pokémon Gold & Silver
Pokémon Crystal

Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire
Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen
Pokémon Emerald

Pokémon Diamond & Pearl
Pokémon Platinum
Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver

Pokémon Black & White
Pokémon Black 2 & White 2

Pokémon X & Y
Pokémon OmegaRuby & Alpha Sapphire

Pokémon Sun & Moon
Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon
Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee

Pokémon Sword & Shield(+ it’s dlc:Isle of Armor & Crown Thundra)
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl
Pokémon Legends Arceus

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet (+ it’s dlc:Teal Mask & Indigo Disk)
Pokémon Legends Z-A

Oh and in regards to Gen 1 in Japan they had Red & Green then Pokemon Blue, and then Pokemon Yellow while the US and everywhere else had Pokémon Red & Blue, and then Pokémon Yellow.

Main series.

They have the moniker "Pocket Monsters" in Japan like all main series games - excluding the Legends games (They have the moniker "Pokémon LEGENDS" in Japan)

Meanwhile every spin-off like Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness have the moniker "Pokémon"

They even feature Let's Go on in the background of some Pokémon Presents segments along with the other main series titles - they wouldn't do it if they weren't main series titles.

I believe all 30th Anniversary merch confirmed Let's Go are main series games.
