Are there more Japanese Pokémon cards than English ones, or viceversa?

Are there more Japanese Pokémon cards than English ones, or viceversa?

I have been looking into this for a while, but I cannot even find a hint. I would assume that since the English cards cater to a bigger audience, there would be more English Pokémon cards than Japanese ones.

Cards go through their Japanese print run first, then get resorted into their international sets or promo peony runs later. Numerically, there would logically be more physical cards in English, considering the global demographic it caters to, but for variety of cards, Japan gets their sets first and have more cards to choose from.
