Well this is an....amusing post, one that persuades me to never take anything you say seriously ever again, but just for fun..
Um, I don't know you and I don't think I take YOU all that seriously, so I suppose we're even.
Becaue people can't be written as nice guys without being written as a stu.
People CAN be written as nice guys while still being written as HUMAN. Ash is not human; he's a tool.
He is the main character, he is expected to win most of his fights, otherwise he'll never reach his goal.
Fair enough. I'll just accept that he's the..really dull, outdated main character.
Unless your whining about him giving life lessons that some COTD needed, or his training ethic that as a trainer he should have for his own Pokemon by now, this is not a trait that Ash alone shares in the Anime.
Any examples of who else shares it then?
...as has Misty, Brock, Tracey, May, Max, Dawn, and Team Rocket. They must be sues too.
Who have all done so as HIS sidekicks! They're insignifigant in most movies. It's always Ash saving the day.
Ash has only ever had 2 girls showing romantic hints for him, Latias and Anabel, those never went anywhere, but not on any fault of ash's. You make it sound like damn near every girl his age harbors secret feelings for him, It's laughable.
LOL, JUST 2? Melody, Latias, Macey, Anabel, Angie, even Misty, May, and
especially Dawn have shown signs of having feelings for him! There'll be at least two girls every generation that develop a meaningless crush on him for no real reason other than he's the main character and a nice guy. And it is the fault of how Ash and his relationships with others is written.
What? the "listening to Aura-sensitive pokemon power that was only good for a TV special? He's not flinging Aura Spheres at Team Rocket.
That doesn't change the fact that he has such superpowers to begin with. For terribly unconvincing reasons.
You must have a problem with every single fictional character that is a destined something.
No, I don't mind heroes who are destined for SOMETHING at all. Heroes are are destined for LOTS of things on more than one occasion, on the other hand....
And now we get to your(now very clear) bias against Ash. Possibly your saddest point, liking a side character more than a main character isn't unheard of, so I'll just acknowledge this as unimportant and move on.
Okay, just go re-watch the climax of the 9th movie again and tell me that he isn't unnessecarily hogging spotlight. He steals the show from both May and the Pokemon Ranger himself, both of whom were more important to the movie up until that point!
This isn't any different than saying he's a pure goody-twoshoes.
It's a reitteration of how "speshul" the writers treat him.
Wrong, this is exactly why calling any character in the Anime a sue is laughable and basically amounts to nothing but personal contempt for the character.
Excuse me, but I am not one to just throw around the Sue label. I do not call someone a Sue just because I have cotempt for them. I held personal contempt for Dawn, Brock, and Team Rocket in "Diamond and Pearl" but they weren't Sues in any way. Ash and Paul on the other hand, aside from just being boring, followed a noticeable pattern of Sue-ishness and THAT'S why I hate them. I hold personal contempt for Ash BECAUSE he's written as such a Sue! Sorry if I'm supposed to like Ash, but they've failed at making him likeable.
In the Pokemon world!
So...basically we aren't even talking about Ash here but more the fact that ten thousand other characters admire him and you hate it. Great.
It's not just that they "admire" him. It's that the characters (and the writers) put him on a pedestal when there's really no reason to. The former director of the anime even said in an interview that the whole point of Ash's "connection" with Ho-Oh was to show how "special" he is. Yeah...
