Ash's first battle ever was against Team Rocket in the Viridian Forest, were both Pikachu and Pidgeotto were taken out by them cheating. Now 20+ years later Ash's last battle (as a protagonist) was against Team Rocket in the same forest, just this time Pidgeot and Pikachu easly defeated them, even if they were cheating just like the first time.

Interestingly I think this was the only time Ash caught more than one Pokemon in the same episode(unless you count the Tauros one). Kind of wish they did more that afterwards.
