i know theres already a thread about cyndaquil but if totodile was fully evolved he could one hell of a team starting charizard [SPOIL]sceptile and if he had feraligatr he would a fully evolved starter from from each region being different types now that would rock[/SPOIL]

What does it matter anyway? Nobody really cares about Totodile... it never did anything of interested and just danced. And I hate dancing.

Yeah,I don't care either.Totodile is already strong enough,it beat a Sneasel.If it evolves,it would be cooler.But totodile is not used by Ash lately.Squirtle won't evolve because he's a member of the squirtle squad,he has to prove himself as a squirtle.Besides,if squirtle evolves,the sunglasses won't fit.

Maybe Ash would get a fully evolved water starter in the 4th gen.

anyway (spoilers due to Battle Frontier info):

Totodile evolving would be a good idea, it does need to evolve, even though it will probably lose it's trademark dancing! a Croconaw would just rule, and maybe even a Feraligatr, but at the moment Ash already has a water type (Corphish) , [spoil]and we haven't seen Totodile since 'The right Place at the right Mime' , and seeing as Ash is near the end of the battle frontier, he will probably be using his most powerful pokemon, which will leave totodile untouched.[/spoil]

Hecks yea I think that it should evolve sometime or another. Totodile is my favorite starter from any of the games, and I personally think that it should be cool to have a Feraligatr in Ash's team. Maybe it shouldn't evolve now, but I think that he should whip it back out sometime soon and use it a bit more till it evolves.

All his Johto starters should have made it to their second forms in Johto (only Bayleef did sadly), but now it's just a little too little, too late.

There's really no point now, Ash has better Water types available and with the writers bias against Johto Pokemon, I wouldn't expect to see any of his Johto team in action anytime soon.

I think that everyone wants a few of his Johtos to evolve to show they have grown, but as far as i'm concerned they're fine the way they are unless they're getting owned on the battle field and want to evolve then that's okay by me.

I think people just want Satoshi to have a team that's closer to something that'd be obtainable in the video games, i.e. the final evolved forms of all his Pokémon, dozens of other Pokémon he doesn't have yet, etc. Perhaps this is a way for people to live vicariously through the anime - those who play the games already have these lineups, or wish they did, and since the anime is the only way they can visualize the Pokémon world in a pseudo-realistic setting, they see themselves as the characters on some subconscious level and are disappointed when the characters don't do exactly what they want.

I'm no Psychology major, but that's my theory.

Totodile is in it's Basic Stage. How do you expect it to evolve twice when it's lazing around at Oak's?

Yeah sure, they can have battles there, but surely nothing that will make them gain all too much EXP. I'd love it if Ash had a Croconaw, but Feraligatr is pushing it a bit.

Yes, I'm sure the writers thought that since Ash has a Basic and First Stage [spoil]Grass Pokemon, they might as well make Treecko evolve all the way[/spoil] >.>

They evolved him because they wanted to and he deserved it. Not because of some dumb theory dreamed up by n00bs in hopes that he would evolve.

OMG! I SOOOO called Swellow evolving! You know why? Because Ash's previous birds have all gone to their final stage as welllllllll 8D!
