Only the three regis and articuno? Red has been through harder challenges (specially that god-like deoxys).
Red is a more efficient battler and is fast at creating strategies while all what Ash does is throwing attack after attack and hoping them to hit.

Red is a great trainer, has won against the best trainers on the world, he is a champ and a hero. Ash is just a random guy who knows something about pokemon and has some good strategies but does a lot of mistakes and is immature kid who is sometimes lucky.

Red. Ash, as said before is a random kid who just happened to wander around and win some battles by luck. Also, if Ash is so great, then why did he get 16th in the pokemon league, while Red became champion? Also, in the games, there is no evidence that they are the same other than speculation and having similair pokemon. Also having nearly similair other things, however, show me when Brock and Misty travel with you or when you just get the Cerulean badge because thay give it to you.
