• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

That was mainly to make the post not spam ;)

To make this not spam, and also to answer a question I dearly want to know: Is the boost in stats from Choice items counted before or after EV's?

Question for EVing:

Does it matter that i screwed up 4 evs on a particular stat?
Say i added 4 more to defense that i should of added to attack?

is this a problem i need to solve?

Unless it causes you to miss out on certain KOs and vice versa, or outspeed something, then no.

Well, lets say this is on a wall.

Like a Forrtress.

The set says nothing about KOing anything.

So no?

Well, the 4 misplaced EVs won't make that much difference as long as you don't specifically need them, for example, if you don't need specific EVs to score a specific KO, then you are fine.. Although, if you want to be perfectly accurate, then you should use EV-reducing berries.

Alright.

Seems that its a problem thats not worth fixing.

thanks Bulldogs and BlueRabbit.

EDIT:

The EVs for fortress was taken from Attack, no Defense.

So judging from what y'all told me, i SHOULD be OK.

Forretress may need to survive something using those EVs so be warned.

well, if they were taken from attack that shouldnt be a problem.
forretress isnt going to be KO'ing enough for 4 attack EVs to make really any difference whatsoever.
if the EVs are in defense that will probably even be better for forretress than attack EVs.

Has the UU suspect voting began? I asked on Smogon and no reply yet.

Why is there even a BL tier? There are, like, what, 5 pokes there. Why don't they remove it completely O.O

Its the ubers of UU. They are too powerful for UU, but not used enough to be OU. It serves a purpose. btw get active in the clan xD or they'll ***** at me for getting another non active member.

I have a question about EV training:
I want to EV train some of my pokemon, but they are at level 58 already, they are the ones i used during my adventure in platinum. So i want to know if i can still EV train them well even if they have already battled that much? I mean, during those battles, EV points were already spread all over the stats, right? So would it still be effective if i EV train them now?

Check smogon for ev spreads. You can lower evs by giving them berries.

Start again. Use EV-Reducing berries to take away all of the "Junk EVs" that you have collected during the game, and then re-do the EV training with the EVs that you want.

Question:

Can i use a DDance T-Tar with different moves?
Say, Instead of this:
~ Dragon Dance
~ Crunch
~ Stone Edge
~ Fire Punch / Aqua Tail

Could i use this:
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-Stone Edge
-Crunch / Fire Punch

?

@Zenotwapal

No. Outrage is an inferior move on DDTar because it doesn't get STAB and it locks Ttar in. Crunch and Stone Edge get STAB and already hit most of the OU Dragons. Mence in pummeled by STone Edge and Latias dies to Crunch. The last slot should generally be used so Ttar can attack something that walls the Dark/Rock combonation. Fire Punch is only used on Babari Tar and Aqua Tail hits most Bulky Grounds.

Hope this helps.

^Not to mention that Outrage and Crunch (and Stone Edge with accuracy factored in) hit for the same base damage, which indeed makes this choice a matter of coverage and getting locked in instead of a matter of how much damage Outrage does.

Edit:
Why is there even a BL tier?
iirc, Smogon's tier list is supposed to reflect both usage and power. Therefore, in light of this goal it would be wrong to merge BL with OU--even though effectively that's what BL is--because those Pokemon in BL simply aren't used as much as those in OU. It would be wrong to merge BL with UU for the reason Bulldogs stated. And so we have the BL tier.

Thanks a lot!. So i can do the following: Use EV-reducing berries in the stats i don't need to EV train, for example, i want a Garchomp with maxed attack and speed, so i use the berries in the HP, Defense, Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense stats until it says that the berry won't make any effect, meaning i have removed all the EV points in those stats. And then as i don't know how many EV points there are in the Attack and Speed stats, in order to maximize them, i can attach the respective power items, (pokemon has pokerus) and battle 31 pokemon that give 2 EV points of the stat, which will give around 252 Ev points, meaning i will ensure they maximize the stat. This is correct, right?

Sorry for the long question, but it's the first time i will EV train pokemon, so i don't know much about it.
