Ubisoft has recently showcased they're upcoming stealth/action game, Assassin's Creed. If you haven't had the pleasure of viewing the game's trailer, shoot on over to here to check it out. To get right down to it...this game looks AWESOME. I rarely get excited about games the way I've suddenly become excited about this one. The game pits you as, of course, an assassin, a neutral figure between two warring religious sects who is hired to kill key members from each side. The thing that has me most excited is the "social stealth" aspect. Instead of concealing yourself behind walls or in shadows, you have to blend in to the crowd, moving slowly through the crowds to keep attention on yourself to a minimum. By moving too fast or shoving somebody out of the way a little too hard, you can catch the unwanted eye of a guard and find yourself in trouble.
The game also focuses on a defensive style of combat. Instead of running headlong into a fight with your sword swinging wildly (which you can do, but the gameplay smartly discourages it), you have to wait patiently and pull off quick counter moves to swiftly eliminate your enemy.
From what I've seen, this game just looks so cool. The new twist on stealth just has me excited as ever. And not to mention the game looks gorgeous. I can't wait to broadcast this puppy in high-definition. Do yourself a favor and just read up on this game, I promise you won't regret it.
