ATTN Readers - What do You Look for in a Comic?

Infinity

Gone...
I've been pondering for some time what some of the readers that pass by here look for in a comic to become a dedicated reader. Some of the answers will be obvious, some will not.

What do you look for?
Action, comedy, drama, or even romance?

You may ask what my reasoning for this exercise is. Here is my answer:

The more we know about how much the readers like or dislike a comic the more we can make them towards your enjoyment.

Comic making is a practice for oneself, but the primary goal is to entertain. I am sure many authors think that they have made comics that have struck home, but are disappointed when their comic receives no attention for it.

What genre do you look for?
Journey, overworld, drawn, or even random?

Feel free to post your responses.

I look for quality, things you know took effort. I can tell when you just rushed out a crappy edit (usually there outlines aren't the same). 8-bit or Miccrosoft default colours annoy me.

The only exception to this is if it's funny, which is why I enjoyed that Lucky the Yoshi comic (I forgot the name).

I definitely want the total package. It's very hard for me to find something I truly enjoy, because I'm very picky. A great comic has comedy, drama, action and romance, all mixed into one sunshinehappy mixture of goodness. ;) And I prefer overworld style.

I've yet to find a comic here on Serebii that I read religiously, or even regularly. :S

I want three main things out of comics:

1. Breaking away from clichés. I mean, I really hate reading a predictable comic with recycled personalities and/or main characters that have never been injured/never lost a battle. That's why in the first storyline of my comic I killed off almost all the good guys except for one, which I let stay captured. Just to show that NOBODY is invincible.
2. Quality. If I can't tell what that figure is, or if it hurts my eyes, I'm not touching it. If I can't interpret speech easily, I won't read further. And if it looks like my redneck friend could've done it, I'll abandon any further contact with the comic.
3. Humor. The purpose of comics is to entertain us through the joy of laughter. If you can't achieve that, it's not a comic. At the point where it's not funny, it becomes merely a story. If it ain't makin' me laugh, I'm a-leavin'. It's as simple as that.
