They're not treated as strong trainers in anime while Kukui was exactly like his game counterpart.
Anime!Kukui wasn't into getting hits from Pokemon moves, didn't keep his "oh yeah!" verbal tick, is more down-to-Earth and serious (strangely in a saga meant to be more comedic) than his game counterpart, wasn't married to Burnet for the first half, his final battle wasn't really an official requirement to become an Alolan (League) Champion because it literally was just a harmless - if overhyped - exhibition match, he wasn't restricted to a battle facility where the game is out to get the player down at every opportunity, wasn't a teacher for detention class, his Midday Lycanroc is missing, and he doesn't have an official baby with Burnet in the games.

About the only thing that game!Kukui and anime!Kukui share is their Masked Royal persona, except anime!Kukui is into Incineroar while game!Kukui uses anything at his disposal.

Are we talking about strength or how such little different game and anime character had which had zero relevance to their strength? Because Kukui shown the strength just like his game counterpart.

Because many champions had different things in anime as well, Lance isn't G man in games, he wasn't in hoenn games, Steven and Wallace didn't appear in Aqua and magma arc, Steven have normal metagross not shiny, didn't go to kalos in games, Wallace become champion after Steven but in anime Steven become champion after Wallace, Cynthia didn't battle evil team in games and let players do all the work but in anime she take out admin and attack those chains, Iris didn't travel with protagonist in games and doesn't have any anime kind of backstory, so are they all not champion level trainers in anime?

His game counterpart didn't get Tapu Koko to join him for a bit, then.

(Though it looked like Koko was using him.)
Tapu Koko was player challenge after beating Kukui, Ash beating Tapu Koko in front of entire Alola region is way better than doing it in some forest where only his friends can watch, Tapu Koko is a guardian deity for the citizens after all, can you imagine Ash beat Leon in some empty building without even showing it on TV, like he beat Brandon inside battle pyramid.

So it knew when not to be so selfish.

Way better in hype terms? Because these gods shouldn't really present themselves so boldly.
Tapu Koko is a guardian deity for the citizens after all.
This bit...sort of implies Ash was out to destroy Alola in that match.

Leon is such a keet that he wouldn't mind, but knowing him, he'd totally show that on TV, and there is absolutely no way he'd have a private battle in either incarnation of him.

Koko is an entirely different matter... It simply shouldn't know that much about the wonders of TV broadcasting.

Tapu Koko also need a trainer to perform z move and what is better than the Alola strongest trainer who is also expert in this stuff, after all Tapu Koko was always test Pikachu's z move so one day he could bring out Tapu z as well in their battle.

They're gods so what can Kukui do even Nanu can't refuse to Tapu bulu when he give berry to Lycanroc (insert laughing emoji) Ash and Pikachu was very happy to battle Tapu koko and which other place would be best other than Alola league to end the rivalry which started since episode 2 of SM? This was the start and climax of SM series.

Careful? Where's the fun in that?
If Iris is the freak'in Champion of the Unova region, knowing just how busted Alder's Bouffalant was portrayed back in Best Wishes.... there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that Kakui was Champion level.

I get your point, but E4 members like Flint showed great power too.

Kukui isn’t champion level
Also Alder might have said f it
It was BW so idk if Bouffalant is that strong
You are saying that
Ash>Kukui>Iris>Alder

Kind of almost makes me want him to actually appear, and then show Goh "rage mode" as he goes off on the boys for not using z-moves right.
I know right? Tho I wouldnt mind Satoshi being dissapointed in his place.

A Rowlet gave Kukui's Braviary trouble and got beaten by the little owl.

Something to consider.
Brandon was E4 level opponent and 3 of his pokemons defeated by 2 first stage starters, Braviary take damage from Lycanroc as well like Dusknoir from Charizard.
That same Braviary shown more powerful than Guzma's Golisopod who give trouble to Pikachu so much as well

So we can agree there is no such thing as a strong trainer but really strange comparison situations with inconsistent matchups.
