Goh should also battle volkner with his raichu after ash pwc battle.
Like heck, keep him off screen this entire episode for my sanity of the episode.

Let's be honest, the writers will cut to Goh catching something just because they HAVE to remind us that Goh is making progress towards his all-important goal. It's not like Journeys actually cares about Ash.
This is something you would think would never be the case in the series.

It is ridiculous to bring back gym leaders in PWC and let them use only one type. In gym battles it is understandable, but here it is not against rules and does not make sense.
Your making it sound like the only reason why gym leaders specialize and use in a certain type of Pokémon is do to the the restrictions of the gym which isn’t true.

Sure there are likely some gym leaders that do use Pokémon outside of their type specialty in battles outside of their gym.

However it is not uncommon, and is actually pretty common that a lot of gym leaders choose to specialize in one type of Pokémon because they specifically want to specialize in that type.

It makes perfect sense that some of the people that participate in the PWC would be gym leaders or type special that that specialize and only use Pokémon of a certain type.

Just because there is no restrictions on what Pokémon can be used in the PWC doesn’t mean that there aren’t going to be any trainers/gym leaders that specialize and only use a Pokémon of a certain type.

Is there anyone? i can hardly remember. I am not saying trainers with one type cant participate in pwc. But it is almost given if you are gym leader in anime (or e4) you are using only single type. Rest of it are excuses like saying they could choose other type if they want. They cant choose as they are cartoon characters and only writers can choose for them.

I havent seen single gym leader with different types. I am pretty sure it is rule.

There was clemont with bunnelby. So there shouldn’t be an official rule that disallow them from not using their type at least.
Seems more like an exception ( more than 48 gym leaders) but my point was more broad. I think Cilan also caught one other type. Dont know if he ever used it in gym battles.

Yes brock and cilan both have types not of their specialty.

Oh and i also just remembered giovani left a pretty random selection of pokemon for TR when they stood in, and he himself used mewtwo.

There’s also Whitney (Nidorina), Clair (Gyarados) and Candice (Medicham). It’s definitely an exception to the norm but it’s still enough to show that type speciality seems more like a self imposed thing with more/less restriction depending on the specialist

Some gym leaders can also switch pokemon. Brock once said different gyms have different rules but majority (except handful) of gyms follow the rule of single type no switching.

Usually gym leaders are shown to have strategy against the type they are weak. Like Volkner had electvire teach ice and fire punch. With PWC, there is no need for them to do that. I would have loved to see korrina and bea use some other type.

It does not make sense bea has to use fight type if she wants to defeat leon who clearly has type advantage.

Your misunderstanding something here if a gym leader or a character is using all Pokémon of the same type in the PWC it likely means they specialize in that and and using it because they want to use Pokémon of that type.

Just because a type a character specializes in a type that happens to be at a disadvantage against Leon’s Charizard doesn’t mean that it doesn’t make sense for said character to strive to beat Leon using Pokémon of their type specialty.

It’s not a case of oh this character is only using these types of Pokémon in PWC because they have to, it’s a case that they want to.

Also it has been shown plenty of times in the anime that there is more that goes into battle then just type match ups and just because a Pokémon has a type advantage against another Pokémon doesn’t mean that the Pokémon with the type disadvantage won’t be able to win.

It makes perfect sense that Bea would only use Fighting type Pokémon in her PWC battles even against Leon, because that’s what she wants to use.

Like for instance if Misty entered the PWC and the World Champion ace was an Electric type she would still try to beat them using only Water type Pokémon and her Gyarados because those are the type of Pokémon that she wants to use.

Just because Volkner can use other types of Pokémon in the PWC doesn’t mean that he would choose to do so and also doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t make sure to have strategies in place for his Electric type Pokémon to deal with Ground type Pokémon in the PWC.

Leaked summary.

After sealing the nine-tailed fox inside of his own son and faking his death to get out of a car payment, The Fourth Hokage changed his name to Denzi, moved to Sinnoh, and became a gym leader. A few years later, he was defeated by Satoshi, severely hurting his pride. After learning that he had entered the WCS, he became bent on revenge and decided to enter himself in order to kick Satoshi out of the competition and ruin his dream. Will Satoshi be able to defeat this adversary?

Gym Leader use specific types because they want to, not because of some rule that doesn't exist.

It's not actually a rule that they only use one type. We see with characters like Iris that some people just prefer certain types of Pokemon. If the Gym leaders wanted to they could use other types but they don't because they really like that specific type.
