It might as well happen, although I figure that Satoshi's Galarian Kamonegi has just as much of a chance to evolve here if we're assuming that an evolution has to take place.

You do realize that has zero impact on whether or not Alister will appear or not as the main characters having a Pokémon that is the in-game ace of a gym leader has never stopped any of the gym leaders from showing up.

Also there is literally an interview where they mention that they intend to show the gym leaders: https://dogasu.bulbagarden.net/features/translations/animedia_june2020_daiki_tomiyasu.html

So chances are Allister is going to show up regardless.

I guess all gym leaders are gonna appear little by little
I guess if piers is appearing then team yell and Marnie will appear too

I don't know how Allister would show up unless they give him Piers' hatred of Dynamaxing.

So you're using the possibility that Satoshi might showcase Gangar's Kyodaimax form to argue that Onion won't appear because he's known to use Kyodaimax Gangar in the games? You've done something like this before when you said that Satoshi won't capture an Ohlonge just because Mary might have one, and I just think it's faulty logic because we've seen countless instances of characters sharing the same species of Pokemon before.

Alister is going to appear, there's no doubting that. Even if he does have Gengar and even if they both Gigantamax they'll both probably just duke it out. The anime does that whenever an MC has the same Pokemon on their current team as a game character's ace. We literally saw this with the Lycanroc Trio last saga.

Even more, in SM, they made Acerola's main a Mimikyu, even though she doesn't even have one in the games, and even though there is already a Mimikyu on the cast under Jessie's care.

Or 'Ash won't ever have Firium Z because that's Kiawe's thing'.

Ash’s Gengar is supposed to be what it’s appearance looks like the games where the purple is notably lighter rather than the iconic Dark purple we know and saw until Ash’s Gengar.
