I’m aware it’s just every important match people want him to lose
It’s better to lose in an important match than some COTD match. This would be the perfect opportunity. Unless like I said, we basically get bamboozled and Ash wins again and this also serves as Riolu’s evolution ep as a bonus.

Yeah I’m mostly just poking fun at people whose first thought at a battle centric episode with an important character is “I wonder if Ash will lose”. I wouldn’t be surprised if Riolu evolved and won simply because it’s Lucario. I just find it weird to speculate on a loss every episode he had a battle

I guess you can say people want him to lose once in a while since truth to be told, it is kinda boring to see him always on a winning streak like in the XY series where he was just a battlebot that almost never lost.

He had this streak in nearly every region and, iirc, he lost way less often in SM than in XY (only times I can remember him losing are Gladion, Kukui, Hau, Nanu, and Hapu) so I never understood why it’s always XY Ash that gets this “battle bot” criticism. Personally I don’t really care as he’ll eventually win against the person he lost to in a predictable way but I suppose I can see this logic. It’s just not something I’m constantly hoping for like others here

Riolu will eventually lose a match but who actually cares? It's not really anything to look forward to like you're personally invested in them losing.
Not even it being Ash's will be enough to stop the (Serebii) fandom from wishing it the worst in its future.

Or the fact it's a baby who needs a biiiiiiiiiiiiig hug but hasn't gotten it yet.

Because if Ash wins all the time it's going to get stale and boring. A loss every once in a while is a good thing

This.
I don't want him to lose, seeing how it'd mean we have to deal with Bea showing up again like Korrina inevitably is, I'd rather a better Galar gym leader like Nessa, Kabu, or Allister(Especially since we hardly ever see Ghost specialists, much like Dark it tends to be primary an E4 type so it gets screwed a lot too) have that role or Bede/Marnie's introduction be his first major loss of the saga. But a lot of Ash's more recent losses have been 1v1 and then facing them in a bigger fight later on, apart from Hapu....
So he's likely gonna lose.

Ash honestly needs to take a loss. He's essentially hammered his way from the bottom echelons to the 900s in a world tournament.

It's not a challenge if you constantly win.

The structure of this challenge is tailor made to give rivalries more stakes since every battle can drop you hell of a lot, yet I wonder why the anime refuses to take that path. At least losing here is a start.

Man, our boy can't catch a break with you guys... y'all hate it when he loses when he shouldn't, yet complain when he's being the OP trainer you want him to be. Which is it exactly lol

Well “our boy” is eventually going to come across challenges. And I don’t think anyone in this forum has complained about Ash being “overpowered” or even the possibility of him losing.

Has this really been the case? Because I haven't seen this type of speculation happen that often recently. I admit that I partially want Satoshi to lose here just so that he might start training his other Pokemon more instead of him focusing solely on Riolu, but I'm also okay with him winning since I don't really like Saito.

I don’t think if Ash wins here that it means that he’s going to breeze through all the way to the Master 8.

I mean sure he is in the lower parts of the Super Class but Super Class while still being composed of a lot of ranks, is still the 2nd lowest class rank.

I mean I think some people are misunderstanding the size of the Super Class, as the Super Class stretches all the way from 999-100.

So even if Ash wins this match, he still has a ways to go before he can make it into Hyper Class, and the battles will get harder as he goes up.

Also in case you haven’t notice his rank progression has been slowing down as when he wins a match it doesn’t make him jump a large amount of ranks like he used to.

Yes he is in the 900’s of the PWC, but make no mistake he is currently only in the 900’s of the PWC.

Even if he beats Bea and ranks up there is still plenty of time for him to lose a match at simple point in the Super Rank of the PWC.
