You shouldn't apologize for having an opinion. If something you said ruined someone else's outlook on the show, it's entirely their problem.I hope every Journeys fan still can enjoy the Master Eight Tournament!
I just can't. Sorry for that. I can't act like everything is amazing and is the best.
I sincerely apologize if my negative has effected your positive outlook on Journeys.
That might have been made on the fly at the Fantina battle but I still wouldn’t call him non strategicCountershield
Pretty much, the characteristic for Ash's Dracovish in the new event is even "capable of taking hits"Of course it’s just speculation since the writers didn’t address this, but his team selection against Steven - despite not using fighting types against the steel specialist - kinda makes sense.
Gengar had the opportunity to train against a Metagross, and since the matches takes place in Galar, Ash could’ve always used G-Max if things started to get out of control like against Raihan.
Pikachu defeated 3 Metagross’ already and 10MV is Ash’s most reliable gimmick to definitely win.
Dracovish instead of Lucario/Sirfetch’d seems like a weird pick, but he is - for JN battle standards - an absolute tank and the recurring theme of his battles are that opponents don’t really know how to handle him. Steven was forced to switch Metagross out after all.
Though it would’ve been nice if the writers would have a small scene where Ash explains his decision instead of having to rely on fans to justify his team selection…
I agree, I had no problems with the team he picked out. Infact, Dracovish is a great choice because Steven has multiple rock types. It's as you said, it would have been nice if we got a little pre match preview where Ash picks his Pokémon out.Of course it’s just speculation since the writers didn’t address this, but his team selection against Steven - despite not using fighting types against the steel specialist - kinda makes sense.

Yes, I feel the same way. The PWC has been presented as this glamourous, high-level competition but the atmosphere has yet to match that of Sinnoh League or Kalos League, for example, which is really weird.Despite being such an important tournament, it really does feel like the atmosphere was much better in older regional tournaments even though this one should absolutely be blowing it out of the park.
Well things aren’t always black and white and perhaps they genuinely didn’t put much attention on shilling BW on accident and it was miss step. Honestly don’t care that much for Trip but the other rivals were pretty cool in that series.Who knows what is going on in that staff room lol? It was weird to not see Cilan or Clair in Iris vs Cynthia.
Just find it weird that Trip is the ONLY rival to not have interacted with Ash in JN. We got Gary,Paul,Alain and Gladion.
Fun fact:
The rivals appeared all in a row
Gladion JN112
Gary JN113
Paul JN114
Alain JN115
Ritchie JN116
Trip JN117
If anything, anime!BW was ironically, extremely black and white with its rather obvious themes.Well things aren’t always black and white
so are people still going to say Leon is way stronger than Cynthia, or is that argument dead now? lol Guess he's taking this match more seriously since he's G-maxing ZardAccording to the stats shown in the promo video

I totally agree on the Cynthia and Diantha tidbits and interaction. Them having longstanding friendship that Cynthia would tell Diantha her intent to retire is pretty neat.I can't believe Cynthia's getting ANOTHER outfit! First kid Cynthia and now this? How blessed.
It's cute to see how she bonded with Bea because of their shared sweet tooth. And she's also a fan of Diantha's movies!
Cynthia and Diantha know one another well enough that Diantha's the one Cynthia tells about her choice of retiring after this tournament? Yurisisters... we won!
Well, jokes aside. It's good to see that the Champions, or at least some them, actually know one another from before and stuff. Gee, it sure would have been nice to actually see this in one episode or two, you know?
But really, seeing that she's getting a little bit of characterization and development, well, it doesn't make up for how badly she's losing against Leon, but it is still nice to see.
My forever cope will be that she wasn't able to train in preparation for the tournament because she literally was recording a movie until the last minute and that's the only reason why she's losing to Leon like this. And even so, despite that, she still managed to beat Lance and make it to the Top 4!
I'm not gonna lie, I've always thought that the "Leon has a bad sense of direction" is an absolutely trite non-flaw but I found funny that he asked for lodging at the Stadium but got denied.
But man, like, really? They really couldn't have come up for something new for Leon to put in this? Like, almost all the Cynthia and Diantha info there is brand new stuffs.
And speaking of Leon, I am so glad that he's using G-Max Charizard against Diantha. Firstly because at least tha means he actually had to try against Mega Gardevoir... the rest of the match non-withstanding. And honestly because I abhorred the idea of him being given a Mega Charizard Y just because as yet another show of Leonwank, to humiliate Diantha ever harder by defeating her with her Region's gimmick, and last but not least now it means that Leon stans will NEVER be able to argue against the *only in Galar next to a Powerspot asterisk argument.
Call it petty, but I'm way beyond caring at this point.
So, about the battle...
This thing about Cynthia wanting to retire is REALLY coming out of nowhere. I guess the idea is that this battle with Ash will reignite her passion for battling so she won't retire at the end of the day, but honestly, I can count with one hand the amount of times I've seen this plot point come up and have the character saying that ACTUALLY retire. It's pretty lazy and kinda crappy writing honestly.
I'll say, no Kommo-o is super weird. What was even the point? Just like how they made Gengar defeat Aggron with the WoW vs Kommo-o could have been Dragonite's turn to shine by perfecting the Draco Meteor thing. Dragonite... This was supposed to be your turn... Remember when Dragonite used to be an unbeatable beast? Good times...
Some higher-up must REALLY hate the Dragonite species.
However, I'm happy that my little dude Gastrodon is back and is gonna get a W. Very well deserved after getting robbed so hard last time. And man, Dragonite's not even gonna defeat Milotic to show it is superior to Jobnite or something. Jus why.
RIP Gengar but that's fine since Gengar had its time to shine(hehe) against Steven.
Insane that only Spiritomb, and only Cynthia as consequence, may be the the only ones to take down the rat. It makes sense Cynthia would prioritize taking Pikachu out of the picture as soon as possible. She's the only one who personally knows him and knows what a monster it can be after all.
Hopefully Sirfetch will get some of the spotlight here. It needs it and deserves it. The chances of Lucario getting 3KOs or something dumb like that are also looking high though so who knows.
My bias aside, this all feels super weird. If you didn't know any better you'd think this is the Finals of the tournament considering the amount of focus Cynthia's getting and the amount of hype the match is getting. Genuinely shocked and surprised at how Cynthia is actually being treated with respect considering how PM's been with what the rest of the M8 has gotten and its obsession with the invincible, unbeatable, undefeated, unrivaled, perfect Champion Dande-sama.
Against my better judgment, I'm getting a little excited about this fight. I really hope that the miracle happens and it does deliver at the end of the day.
They made Kukui and Burnet unrelated until they married and immediately got a child, whereas they actually don't have a child in the games. They rushed out of their limits with those two.I agree the retirement thing is interesting but it’s most likely coming from the point that BDSP came out and they’re (assumingely?) not making any Sinnoh games anytime soon so they’re pushing their limits with that.
Honestly I don’t even think they’re doing it which is why I deleted it because why put so much thought into something that’s not happening. They made Kukui and Burnet unrelated until they married and immediately got a child, whereas they actually don't have a child in the games. They rushed out of their limits with those two.
Guess using your own logic Ash has zero chance against Cynthia lmao.so are people still going to say Leon is way stronger than Cynthia, or is that argument dead now? lol Guess he's taking this match more seriously since he's G-maxing Zard
ummm on paper (i.e. based on these stats) yes. Obviously the main character who's been portrayed as the underdog the entire series is going to shake things up here, that wasn't my point. People have been speculating that Leon is way stronger than Cynthia, but the writers clearly intend to show that they are relatively close in strength overallGuess using your own logic Ash has zero chance against Cynthia lmao.
