I wouldn’t say that some obviously hastily created stat sheets with stats like “unpredictability” that were made for a low budget, last minute filler episode to hype up the upcoming battles while saving budget are an accurate representation of the clear intention of the writers.

Diantha also is very, very close to Leon according to the stats but we know how that will turn out.

The anime clearly shows that Leon is in his own league, a couple of levels above even champions.

I agree XY Ash would fit a series with battles of that high of a level(in universe), but I don't think JN Ash looks bad at all personally
Journeys might have its problems but the artstyle isn't one of them to me

Btw I was going to have funny SM Ash as pfp until next week but the new preview had some cool shots so going to use them instead

Pretty much, the characteristic for Ash's Dracovish in the new event is even "capable of taking hits"

Mine says "Likes to thrash about", only the nature is set, the characteristic is random between one of the stats it has a perfect IV for (Atk, Def and Speed)

I might be a minority but since queen Lillie can’t fight Leon, I’m glad the Diantha match looks interesting.

The GMAX Charizard vs Mega Gardevior looks like hype despite it probably be half of the episode. At the very least Diantha is making him use his gimmick so hopefully it’s not a complete job.

I don’t they’ll ever replace a Champion with a non Champion in all honestly that we don’t know. Lillie will be the new Champion

If they do retire her that would be the biggest lol in the history of the series.

The odds of Lillie being Champion is if everybody else died & she was the only one left.

Not necessary.

1) The Companions could be shown watching the match on Television. It just wouldn't make sense for Cilain, May, Max etc to be left out when they went out of the way to show characters like Tyson, Katie & Morisson.

2) There will be a gap between the semi-finals and finals. Considering how big of a deal the match is, I can totally see even Delia, Oak, Tracy, etc flying to Wyndon for the match.

Don‘t take those stats serious. According to them Diantha is just one point behind Leon, but we all know how their match will turn out.

I think "Strategy" in the context of the stats, means battling by the Book and making rational strategic decisions.
Like taking advantage of type advantages, teaching good coverage moves to your team, exploiting traditional battle mechanics.

The kind of "Strategy" one would utilize while playing the games.

Ash has never been someone who obsessed over things like this. He's the guy who'd send out a fire type against a water type and expect Pikachu to take out a Ground Type.

My response to these stats.

It's pretty much inevitable that Ash will lose to Leon, they gave Cynthia his character arc, and Leon lost to Eternatus already. So the story is really going to be: Leon is the strongest trainer, and no one will ever be able to challenge him.

Yeah, I don't think these stats will actually dictate match results, but I just think it's rather unfortunate that Ash is being treated as some sort of idiot, when realistically they could've taken points out of all those stats to give him 5/5 Strategy and Unpredictability.
