Is aura boost counted as a gimmick ? Ash used it after dynamax vs Raihan but the referee was okay with it.

Aura boost gimmick is your typical, "I believe in you" , "Power of friendship" gimmick.

Aura or Heart of Dragons aren't counted as "gimmicks" even if functionally they're the same as as one simply because they're far to unique, vague, and seldom seen that "regulating them" could be argued from to be hard to do so since they're "unique skills inherent to the person" which would open a can of worms to "no point on setting up a rule for something that comes up once every million matches".
Iris was not given a Mega, Z-Move or Dynamax for a reason. Even if it would objectively make her a stronger contender narrative-wise it would "overlap" and "overshadow" the Heart of Dragons, which is Iris "thing" so better not touch it.

She wasn’t given a gimmick because the point was showing that she clearly lost for a specific reason which was that Cynthia Mega Evolved unlike the matches where both sides used gimmick (which the magazine and the following episode confirmed). It was show to how far her and Haxorus came along by not backing down
The “gimmick” was a mental conversation that could have been completely verbal and wouldn’t change anything. It really isn’t any overlap or anything overshadowed. She just told Haxorus to give it everything he got.

Okay so I really, really wish this battle was offscreened. Now hear me out, I like Diantha, Im glad she got her dues against Lance and I'm sure they can have an interesting interaction. However I would rather they divert their resources to Ash vs Cynthia.
Fingers crossed this episode starts out with half of the battle already gone, showing us mainly the climax and then beginning Ash vs Cynthia.
Or Leon quickly dismantles Diantha (this would be bad writing but frick it I want Ash vs Cynthia to be done justice) and have Ash vs Cynthia begin

They couldn’t even properly coordinate half battles in a single episode so how’s is this gonna work?
Either a bunch of jobbers is gonna come from this or some of this battle is off screen. In theory the reason being is because the other battles weren’t planned so they’re smashing these battles in single episodes.

Praying that since it's a whole ass part rather than a movie the anime expands stuff and makes the ending more bearable and better and less cringe (or straight up has a new ending, one can cope)

It just feels too rushed and the dialogues felt like a parody at times. The ending itself can definitely still stand on its own but it needs proper expansion and better dialogues. (And hopefully that retcon about Eren's mom is removed, so unnecessary, a cheap plot twist and ruins previous things)
I also wish they properly build up Eren and Mikasa with more anime original flashbacks or something

Well at least we will probably get to see Diantha’s full team.
You know presuming that the semifinals would be full battles regardless who won in the quarterfinals it’s interesting to think what the full teams for Steven, Iris, Lance, and Alain might have looked like had they made it to the semifinals.

Agreed I think the merchandise included Mega Y because they had Mega X and wanted to market both forms and it had nothing to do with the anime like you said. Leon is pretty much a G Max specialist so I wouldn’t expect him to use any other gimmick.

I would like to see Dragapult or someone else taking down Diantha's M-Gardie just to show that Leon's whole Team is strong and not only Charizard and that his 2nd or even 3rd strongest can także down some of other people Aces as I'm under the impression people think Leon needs to use Zard to bring down MCX or Iris' Haxorus.

Satoshi calling it “Kyodaimax Hadou-Dan!” and Gengar stealing the slot almost felt like a stand-in to portray it as such. It clearly caused a power-up. Kind of reminds me of Satoshi-Gekkouga being a stand-in for Mega Evolution but then again they erased that form and retconned that power boost to Aura so I guess. Who knows maybe Dande has the power to power up one of his ‘mons by syncing hearts or
something.
I have zero interest in a Carne vs. Dande showdown because…well I just don’t care about either of these characters nor do they have a dynamic to carry this match. They’ve made very weird choices with how the matchups are working in this thing but unironically giving two episodes and a full battle to a character with no skin in the game against an invincible character sounds super uninteresting. Bleh. Potentially two episodes on these characters is odd….

Leon vs Diantha is only 1 episode, not 2.
1) There is no objective proof that indicates AG has been retconned. The only real argument is it being missing from the screen against Alain. However, considering Ash and Goh's dialogue regarding Greninja before, there is no reason to assume this.
2) Mega Evolution, Z-Move and Dynamax are powerups that are triggered with the help of an external accessory.
