Awaken the Gods
Who are you little child.
Who are you with the power of such a mighty creation.
Do you play with the wind and dance with the fire?
Can you walk on the water and make the earth cry for you?
Who are you little child with the might of a god...

The area was mostly rock and grass, even on the mountain it was so. Though damp and mossy it had the remains of once beautiful trees that grew here. Along side these remains were strange unnatural structures, remains of the race that once dominated the earth.

Humanity.

The road that once was there was overgrown cracked and rattled with weeds. Most evidence that anything once lived in these ruins gone. But the place was not empty. A figure walked down the street, hands behind his back as he looked at the remains of the species he was now apart of.

Lock one of the few remaining humans… and gods… walked down the human street, or what was left of it, looking about with a bit of curiosity. He had been to human cities before, but this was different, almost as if it was made to coexist with nature other then how the others cities were eyesores on the natural world’s map.

Finally the young man grumbled before he called out a name, “Naoko!” he cried as he made his way down the center of the ruined town. “Stop hiding all ready.”
The man continued to walk along as he called for the girl.

It was several more minutes before the young man had left the ruins and followed a carved path in the mountain side, some old wood was about and remnants of a bridge. He smirked as he spotted footprints, Human footprints.

It was a few more minutes before he finally arrived at the strange stone floor. It seemed almost untouched by the floods as the markings on it were clear and vines grew over it. Standing in the center was a young girl around the same age as the man, her hair was ruby colored and her skin as pale as his.

“Naoko?” he asked walking over. The young woman clothed in rags turned and smiled a little at her brother, showing she heard him.

“This is where… we will meet those who will survive… don’t you feel it?” she said as she took her brother’s hand. The young man paused a moment before he sighed as he squeezed her hand.

“Yeah, I do feel it.”

“I don’t want to die, Lock… I don’t want to die.” The older brother instinctively hugged his sister as she said those words.

“No one will hurt you, no one.”

An old graying female primape stood on a boulder, her gaze scanning the approaching parties. They were coming from all directions… so many herds. All so different. Hopefully they didn’t have any feuds with each other.

The old mother glanced back over her shoulder, looking at her family group of mankeys and primapes. She hoped that everything would turn out all right for them and her adopted children. They had such a burden now… everyone knew that these gods in human flesh would.

But in the end, no pokemon truly understand how much these rare children would have to go through, to reclaim the world from a madman’s grasp.

~*~

Directions: Your first post will be rather simple, you will roleplay your characters arrival at the mountains, the first poster means that your herd/pack/pride/clan/tribe was the first to arrive at the northern moutnains. You will probably come first to the ruin city, the old primape Jenta (Lock and Naoko's adopted mother) will be ready to greet the group leader and/or your character. Though it is suggested that the leader be with the character at the meeting.

Note that you do not have to meet Jenta right away and can have your character explore or wait for another group to arrive. You are welcomed to meet in your first post. I feel if we drag the plot out to much it will die so this is an rpg where while I want you to write your best and how you feel, to try and not stall it up.

Please have your first or second post either speak with another player or with Jenta. (If you are the first poster then your only option is to speak with Jenta or wait)

You have many oppertunties. Perhaps even going near where my charactesr are. It is up to you.

Please enjoy the roleplay and try to be active and if you are unable to post. DROP ME A LINE. I would like to know and see if I can help. Thank you.

The Mountain felt dead. It was littered, covered completely in the ruins of human civilization and grand forests that used to scale its brinks. Weeds crept up the paths and remains, slowly enveloping the Mountain top in nature’s persistent grasp, as if reclaiming the deceased land. Gaius felt afflicted by the sight, for reasons he couldn’t understand. He passed it off as anger, anger for his human race, his human heritage. His roots were bringing trouble to his life, and the lives of his heard, trouble he could do without.

His mother was close by him, surveying the land as the herd lingered behind her, slowly pressing forward up the Mountain. Her face looked troubled, and Gaius wondered if she felt the same as he did. For the first time in his life, he felt as if he was bringing unneeded strife upon his family, and he felt guilty for it. He took in a breath, frowned, and deliberated no longer, continuing ahead of the herd.

Silence seemed to shadow the whole group, only the odd whisper was exchanged. His mother relayed little information to the herd, as to why they journeyed here, but they followed nonetheless out of sheer obedience. Perhaps being brought up under such a powerful head was what led Gaius to become quite pompous in his ways.

Gaius had reached quite a distance before long, far ahead of his mother and the trailing herd, his impatience rising by the minute. It was then that a creature had finally met his wandering gaze, a burly biped standing atop a boulder. Gaius halted almost immediately, panting as he watched the Primape with triumph.

He glanced behind him, “Mother! We’re here, we’ve finally made it!” He called, gesturing for her to increase her pace. When she reached his side, the two of them approached together, wary of the crowd behind the Primape mother.

Gaius began to survey the Primape leader, beginning to trail behind as his mother walked on towards her.

“We’re here,” she stated, just as the Shiftry herd came in to view behind her. Gaius could see far from this point, and it seemed that more herds would be arriving shortly. He paid no further attention to the elders, but scoured the land in search of the others that he was promised to find at this place, the other, unique, herd members.

Lock let out a loud laugh as his sister squirmed in his arms. He was tickling her sides trying to get the girl to cheer up. Naoko giggled and laughed all the while trying to get her brother to let her go. Finally she wiggled free and took off back down the stone path away from the strange shrine.

"Naoko!" Lock called after.

"Catch me if you can!" The sister called back as the pale skinned red haired woman was off. Lock grumbled as he dusted himself out and mentally began to count to three. He smirked as he reached the number three before the brother bolted into a sprint.

He chased his sister, who had a decent head start, back towards the ruin city and towards the group of mankey and primape.

~*~

The old primape sat looking down at the two who had come up to her. She could see the rest behind them. Her eyes turned onto the human boy, he was just as young and ugly as her own children. But she knew he had been loved like she loved her own, it was easy to see that with the expression on his face.

Jenta smiled softly, showing how calm a primape could be when not provoked. She raised a hand to pick at her fur a moment before she decided it was time to say something.

"I am Jenta, alpha female." she spoke finally, "On behalf of my family group I welcome you here and I promise my kind will not be of any cause of trouble." she said dipping her head in respect. Jenta was about to say something else when a burst of giggles not fitting for a mankey came through the air.

Darting through the family group behind the boulder, the young Naoko grinned as she kept just out of reach of her brother. On her shoulders clung a mankey that was turned around and sticking his tongue out at Lock. Jenta got a dry look and well was rather emberassed at the interuption.

Naoko pulled herself up onto the boulder and glomped a hold of the primape and shouting out "Haha I'm safe!" she declared not noticing the new arrivals, "Mom will protect-" Naoko face still as she finally spotted the strange tree like creature. Her eyes darted around before she spotted the boy that was much like her beside the new pokemon.

Lock by now had pulled himself up onto the boulder and blinked in surprise at what he saw. "Their all ready here?"

"Be respectful you two." Snapped Jenta before she tried to regain her composure. "This is my children, Lock and Naoko. I am sorry for their rather rude intrusion."

Naoko pulled away from her mother, still having the mankey sitting on her shoulder and whispering something into her ear. She began to slide down teh boulder (against her brother's wishes) and smiled, "Why does he look more like Lock then me? Thats not fair." she grumbled looking at Gaius.

I am here! :O just wanted to make it good. Even if it feels like a fanfic more than an rp reply XD

Drake chewed her lower lip as she followed after the ‘leader’ of the small group of Kangaskhan that had come with her. She knew that her mother or the others couldn't really come- too many young ones to look after. But still, she wished her mother was here, it would have made her feel safer even though nothing had attacked them. Running a hand through her white hair nervously, Drake tried to remain calm. But a grunt from one of the trio of Kangaskhan spooked Drake and caused the other two to laugh slightly.

“Look, we're almost there,” the temporary leader murmured, raising up a khaki colored arm and pointing with one of her claws. “Don't worry little one of Kasan, we will deliver you safely,” she continued, a serious expression as she turned slightly to look at the fragile looking human then turned and started forward again.

Even at the somewhat slow pace, they were still making good time- as a slow pace to a Kangaskhan is worth two steps for a human. The first sign they were getting close was the signs of another group of pokemon had passed by, and recently. The leader, Rasi, snorted as he ears went back. “Atleast they are not predators,” Drake heard Rasi mutter, and Drake was curious- to an extent. While she wasn't overly eager or keen on this whole thing, there is always the small flicker of curiosity.

But it just about died as she and her ‘protectors’ passed through the ruins. Drake didn't like it. It just felt wrong. She had never really liked going to where Kasan had to get clothes for her, it just made Drake uneasy. Shifting nervously the young woman glanced aout her with a worried expression in her blue eyes, untill she was distracted by the overgrown wreckage of something long gone as she nearly walked into Rasi's back. Blinking, she rushed out an apology, but the tall normal type hadn't even felt the human bump into her.

Peering about Rasi when the trio of Kangaskhan didn't budge, she saw what made them stop. She'd never seen pokemon like that before. And Drake didn't like the uneasy look Rasi held, and gulped slightly. But before she could say anything, “Stay here, I'll go first.” And Rasi started forward.

After the night they shared together, the remainder of the trip to the city proved quiet. Ka felt bad about this. She wanted so much to tell Kitsune something, if only to break the silence between them, but the words never came. Kitsune herself also seemed much quieter then Ka ever remembered her being, and thinking that further silencing her words.

The scenery distracted Ka, but only just. And shrubs and grass and rocks really start looking the same if looked at long enough… From the small moments that she could pull herself away from the silence, and everything else the silence meant, she saw a quiet valley with tall peaks rising between where she stood and the horizon line. Tens to hundreds of mountains. She daydreamed running through the mountains, through the intricate valleys and maybe over a rushing creek or even a river. High, up, and over the mountain peaks, eagerly discovering the secrets the other half hid from her. For a moment, her day dream seemed so real, so…

“We’re almost there, Ka.” Her clan’s alpha and sole companion whispered, breaking Ka’s reverie. “Keep an eye out for other clans… and others such as yourself. We will… part paths here.”

Ka hoped that Kitsune’s words would make her feel better. For once, they didn’t. A painful knot formed in Ka’s stomach.

Not long after, a curious sight appeared before the girl and Ninetales. What appeared to be a forest actually seemed hollowed and crafted into a sort of cavern or a dwelling.

“Houses,” Kitsune explained. “Humans dwelled here once. A great clan of humans. They called this place a ‘city,’ and now… it will become that once more.”

“Kitsune,” Ka finally passed across her lips, “Why… are you being so cold?”

The Ninetales closed her eyes and stopped where she stood. Kitsune wanted to tell her much, about how to live and how to know when a person lies, about the dangers that she will have to face and the truths that she could only discover through mistakes. So much, but now she had to find her own path, her own answers. The only way to say such a hard lesson to her, the only words that truly proved meaningful, was silence. “I must go find the elders. Ka…” the Ninetales looked up to her ugly, beautiful daughter, “I trust you. Trust me too.”

The girl stood there, stunned by the isolation of her mother walking off. Ka hadn’t eaten that morning, and now she was glad for that. Had she, her stomach would not be able to keep it. Ka’s eyes flitted across the packs of other Pokemon, previously invisible to her (though she couldn’t imagine why.) There, within a pack of tall prehistoric kangaroos a sole girl, like herself stood. Her flowing white hair with blue bangs seemed so pretty…

Before she knew what had happened, the girl was only a few feet from her. Panicked, the Entei girl went with the first thing that came to her mind. “I’m Ka! You’re hair is very pretty!”
I’m such an idiot… Ka wailed mentally.

OOC: Eeep. Very busy. ._. Sorry for the craptastic post too.

Eikia stood tall, looking down from her perch atop a mountain close to the city that lie in ruins. She could not take her eyes off of it.

"That's where we're going, Eikia," a voice next to her said. The girl jerked her head down to look at the Sneasel who had spoken. He had suprised her.

"I thought so..." she muttered, looking back up. She turned to see what else was around. Very little, she noted, except for a strange structure of sorts. What could that be? Eikia thought, tilting her head to the side in confusion.

The male Sneasel saw her emotions. "It is the shrine. But come, we have other things to see to." He begun to walk down the mountainside; Eikia followed swiftly. They were not on a high mountain, nor was its base far from the ruins.

The rag-clothed girl looked back to see four other Sneasel following after her and the male. This was the group that had escorted her from her home some distance away. These were her family, in a sense, though they were small and covered in black fur versus her peachy-tan, furless skin.

Eikia twiddled the feather in her hair nervously. Others of her kind... what would they be like? Would they be like the Sneasel, friendly and accepting, or would they reject her for some reason?

I don't need to be so afraid, she thought. There's no reason. They'll be just as glad as I to see others like them. But she couldn't convince herself of that, not deep down. But Eikia put on a smile as they entered the city, a false smile to hide her fears.

Drake had been unawares at the approach of the other girl, was completely startled at the “I’m Ka! You’re hair is very pretty!”. Letting out a startled yip noise, Drake dove between the Kangaskhan and hid behind one- untill sheepishly looking around one when they started to snicker at her.

What stood there was someone like herself, human, only taller than herself and her hair was different than Drakes, vastly different. And Drake had an odd urge to go and touch it to make sure it really was hair and not some abnormal growth or something. But Drake's shyness won out for a few more moments before- with a nudge from one of the two Kangaskhan, she moved forward a little.

“I'm Drake,” she started to mumble, “and um thanks ... your hair is pretty too.” Drake wasn't about to say 'it's strange and can I touch it?'. Fidgeting slightly from nervousness she waited for the other girl to speak as well, she wasn't sure of what to say next.

((OOC: lol, well, Entei hair is definitely one of the more… unique? ^_^; ))

The awkwardness from the two girls persisted after Drake spoke; both had no idea what to say. Ka’s insides, meanwhile, showed a different story. She felt like she was stricken by the flu, hypothermia, and heat stroke all at the same time. Her anxiety also confused her. Why should this girl bother her so? If anything, this other girl, with her peering eyes and white hair, seemed just as nervous as Ka felt (well, maybe not quite that nervous, but definitely nervous). Maybe they actually had a lot in common, even! Maybe with just a few questions, they could be friends. She recalled Kitsune telling her once on the trail, “If you ever want to get to know somebody better or make new friends, ask questions and be sure to seem genuinely interested.”

This thought, of course, prompted all the questions intended to ask other creatures like her to disappear from her mind. Ka’s eyes scrunched and two hands raised to her temples and she balled up in front of Drake and the Kangaskhan. How much she wished she didn’t approach her! Then, like a bursting dam, questions came in a flurry. Too many questions to ask.

Who is she ? She is another girl right, she has the hanging thingies from her chest ? “Is that your pack? What type of Pokemon are they?” Oh gosh, she’s a lot shorter then me, is all the other people like me so short? What’s your favorite food? What’s your favorite color? Do you like to wear clothes? Do you have other human friends? Do you like looking at the sky? Do you not like getting your feet dirty and really like baths? Do you have somebody to look up to like a mommy or daddy? “Can I touch your hair and do you want to be my friend?”

The shakes came back to Ka and silence took over again. Though she wanted so much to talk more, she wanted her to say something too. Ka already liked Drake, but worried that unless they talked more, the feeling would not be mutual.

In the distance, Kitsune looked at her daughters bumbling and smiled. True, she was faltering and had the grace of a tap-dancing Rydon, but she was trying and meeting what looked to be her first friend like her. But if not, these first steps would allow her to grow as a person. Either way, Kitsune was very, very proud of her daughter, and had no more worries as she ventured to the predetermined meeting place.

((I'm not dead, really. Though I might be. Please don't kill me. ;_; ))

The herd of tusked elephants moved through the mountain paths cautiously. This wasn't a normal shift to find new territory or better living, and though the rest of the herd hadn't been informed of the real reason for coming here, they could sense that something was amiss. Even the Phanpy were in low spirits, despite the reassurance they received from their parents and friends. Nana felt lost in it all; part of her was so happy to finally meet others like herself, another part of her wished this meeting wasn't happening at all. What gave her the right to shift an entire herd just to move her to a place where she would be safer? What if she didn't want to leave her family and the carefree days she spent with them? What if she was disliked by the others, and spent the rest of her days in the company of creatures who just didn't want her to be there?

The closer they got to their destination, the more she worried about all the things that could go wrong, the things she didn't want to happen. But she wouldn't let herself be caught with any expression other than one of seriousness and caution. After all, it wouldn't do to have others worry about her. Her other companions were far too busy, and they probably didn't need her spilling her thoughts when they had their own to tend to. They had enough to worry about already, and she didn't see the situation becoming brighter any time soon.

Upon reaching the outer ruins of the city itself, Nana first noticed that they were not the first pack to arrive. She noticed huge brown things with weird pouches on their stomachs. There were pale fluffy things with limbs kind of similar to her own, and white fluffy things with weird pointy noses. And, to top them all off, was the fluffiest darn thing she had ever seen. The fox like creature had so much fluff that it needed nine tails just to hold it all! It looked like it had some serious fluff issues, and Nana had to hold down the urge to run up and ask just how heavy each tail was. A troupe a bit nearer to herself contained some (thankfully) much less fluffy critters. They were black in coloration, with odd little pink feathers poking out of their heads. Nana took an instant liking to the species, they held an unseeable similarity with her own herd that she found slightly comforting. And there, walking among the small group, was one of her very own.

The human appeared similar to herself, but perhaps a bit more slender and less muscular. She was taller too, and the stranger's frizzy red hair reminded her strongly of fire. Strange that the pink feather poking out of her head didn't suddenly burst into flame; Nana really did expect it to. She was draped in human rags, along with some (ugh) furs here and there. But all these features together paled in comparison to her amber colored eyes, which held a sharp intensity that Nana rarely sensed from others. They were the kind of eyes that struck her as being able to glow in the dark. Which was cool. Kinda creepy, but cool all the same. The golden banged girl decided that this human was the one she wanted to meet first. After all, they had the same color head fur, and that was a darn good start, if anything. She approached the other human with caution, her green eyes brimming with questions she believed to be too rude to ask. It took all her energy not to explode upon the other with questions about anything and everything all at once.

"Hi!" she greeted warmly, a hopeful, but obviously nervous smile spreading across her face, "You seem only about half as nervous as I actually feel," she paused for a moment, as though she was unsure of what to say next, "Um, my name is Nana. What's yours?"

Eikia was a bit suprised to see the other human walk up to her. She hadn't even been paying attention to her surroundings enough to notice. This girl was... oddly similar to herself. Their hair was almost the same color, well kinda. The other had golden tips to hers. Her eyes were lovely, a green that sparkled slightly in the sunlight.

Looking around a bit, it appeared she came from the herd of short-legged, large creatures that stood on four legs. They were all a sort of bluish shade with really long noses and teeth that poked out from under their long noses and curled up. Interesting.

Eikia felt something odd about her, though. Like familarity and fear. What could that be about? Get a grip, Eikia; it's just your anxeity. she thought to herself, expression unchanging. Just being nervous... was that it? It had to be, she decided, and left it at that.

She scrambled for the right words and found herself stuttering a little. "Hi there... Nana. My name's Eikia." She kept up with her smile. "Nice to meet you."

Sorry for the late arrival of a short post Myuu, the past few days have been a bit hectic. Thanks for the prod.

Gaius stared wide-eyed at the Primape’s two, unique children, unable to prevent his curious excitement from becoming apparent. His mother took a step back and returned to the herd, after exchanging her words with the ‘Alpha Female’ of the Mankey, nodding at Gaius as she passed. Gaius was at a loss at what to do, and turned away from the other humans. It wasn’t like him, he would usually speak, but these two were humans. He had just discovered that there were actually others out there who were just like him.

He glanced at the girl, curious of her differences, and a question entered his mind,

“You’re a bit weird-lookin’ aren’t you?” He hoped to trigger a response, a response that matched his own. He wanted to learn about this certain human and discover just how similar they were.

Naoko stood there looking for a moment, before she bit her lip. "Mommy says I'm a female human, thats all. Doesn't your group have females?" she said before feeling a grip on her shoulder. Lock did not look very happy as he eyed the strange new human.

"Be docile, children, this is all your first time." Jenta said before calling after the leader that had brought Gaius, "I would like to speak to all the leaders at sunset!" she called before getting down, seeing as a kangaskan was coming she went ahead to go and speak to the pouched pokemon.

Naoko watched her mother a second before looking back at the other. She smiled and moved forward, "My names Naoko!" and with that, she hugged Gaius.

~

Flying through the large blue sky was a green and yellow creature, its dragonfly wings flapped as the flygon carried an importent passenger. The young girl looked ahead eyes glazed, her short pink hair blew in the wind as her ragged dress fluttered.

She gripped her ride's neck carefully. She glanced down at the mountains bellow before she barely opened her mouth and whispered something. The flygon let out a cry and went down for a landing, a call of warning to let other pokemon know that it was landing.

They landed near two girl's speaking. Though the landing was sudden and surprised the two who were just meeting for hte first time ever. The girl sitting on the dragon's back seemed unfazed by the presence of other human beings. She slid off the beast gracefully and landed simply, her glazed blue eyes looking at the two.

"Am I late?" she asked finally, looking at Ka and Drake.

~*~

OOC: Please have your NPC pokemon leaders meet Jenta, even if it is a simple 'blah blah spoke with the primape before returning to await the sunset meeting'

Also interact a bit more, then we will perhaps time jump to sunset for the meeting. You don't all will need to at least post once more interacting with whoever you have begone to with before I can move the plot along.

“Is that your pack? What type of Pokemon are they?” Drake hesitated a moment in answering before going to respond, but it seemed she waited a tad too long as Ka added; “Can I touch your hair and do you want to be my friend?”

Drake seemed a little overwhelmed at first by the questions, and almost decided to give up this quest to be with her other kind- Drake was happy enough with how her life was .. but knowing she'd be disapointing her mother, Drake used all her will power to stay in place. “Yes this is my .. pack,” Drake rolled the unusual word out after a moment, “They are Kangaskhan.. and er ... you can touch my hair if I can touch yours,” Drake said, gathering some courage before pausing as she remembered the last question: “Um ... sure?”

Drake seemed about to say something else- but was interupted by a strange cry- one from something she'd never seen before and almost bolted before realising- the Kangaskhan weren't freaking out either. But the two did look nervous to an extent at the sight of the strange flying pokemon that landed.

And Drake, while calming down slightly, her nerves were rattled, and when she heard the “Am I late?” Drake saw/took note of what she assumed was another girl. And Drake decided one simple fact. Drake did NOT like the girl that had appeared on the wierd flying thing!

And quickly hid behind her new friend Ka.

-

Rasi huffed slightly as she finally started to near the 'group', though was slightly surprised when a primeape seemed to appear- even if it was old and aging, the kangaskhan was still wary. They knew when respect was due. Bowing her head slightly to the much older monkey pokemon, Rasi said her greetings and such before turning and leaving, to wait for the sunset meeting.

Ka leapt inwardly when she heard Drake respond “sure” to her final question. This person this human, she thought, isn’t much different from the shy Vulpix in my pack. Sure, she looks different, and outside of her beautiful white with blue streaks hair, kinda ugly, but she had the same heart as any other creature I met. A big sigh of relief washed over Ka, and she felt less fearful of Drake. She wanted to know all about her, about her fears, and her family and everything else that made her “her“. After all, what were friends for ^_^?

She prepared herself for a session of hair-touching, when a loud screech almost made her hair stick up straight into the air. Panicked, Ka looked around for the source of the noise. Another loud screech pulled Ka’s attention to the sky, where she saw another “human” as she heard Kitsune refer to the creatures as herself and a green and yellow-green creature flutter down. Ka felt her arms raise slightly, as though to shield her friend from this new intruder.

The human girl practically floated from the dragonfly creature and came up to Ka and her new friend, a look of innocence in her face. “Am I late?” The girl said. Ka’s new friend, Drake, quickly scurried out of the way, causing Ka to frown. Ka assumed that this girl meant no harm, but the loud entrance and her presence scared Drake; something needed to be done.

“I don’t think…” Ka’s voice stayed steady and calm, though she had to force calm, “that things have started… I saw mom head over in that direction.” She pointed toward where she saw her mother left. “I’m sorry, but now’s not a good time for you to be here…”

Her entire manor tried to remain open, but mentally, she was ready to ward off this person for her friend’s sake.

Behind her, Ka heard the muffled whisper of a “Thank you…” from her back.

Ka smiled and whispered back, “What are friends for?”

- - -

A slight twinge of nostalgia rippled through Kitsune’s body as she approached the appointed meeting place. Here, it was all here once: the city, the people, the Pokemon, the shops. Memories ebbed and flowed here, and with those memories many more as time is never moments but a sequence… everything tied together. Everything bounded to one whole. If only Mewtwo and his Pokemon overlords saw the connective-ness of everything… the pain and suffering would never have existed.

Still, to dwell on the past and what should have would neglect the now and what needed to happen. Indeed, Kitsune had her paws full trying to find ways for her pack to survive. New methods had to be discovered for food -- fortunately fish were always available. All this struggle so that her kind can live in freedom, she decided, was her new purpose in this confused world… and now this event would allow her daughter to live in some portion of freedom, however small that may be.

Kitsune entered a opened area were many more Pokemon gathered, and saw three more humans talking and playing with each other. The human’s presence comforted Kitsune, and though few knew well enough her to notice, she walked to the boulder with ease in her stride. Slowly she padded up to the old Primeape waiting there and gave a courteous bow.

“Lady Jenta,” Kitsune spoke as she returned her eyes to the Primape, “I, and my daughter Ka, have arrived.”

"Mommy says I'm a female human, thats all. Doesn't your group have females?"

So this human was a female. He inspected her for while, and in doing so located the various features of this female, and he compared them to his own. He didn’t know how or why, but his instinct told him she was a female before she even stated the fact. He thought perhaps it was the facial structure of this female, it was lighter, and appeared more delicate than any face he’d ever seen. Living among the strong and defined Shiftry’s, he’d never really comprehend the differences between their genders, but with humans, it seemed far more apparent. Maybe it was meant to. Maybe being of opposing genders meant something.

He also noted her stick-thin arms, they seemed void of muscles. In fact, her whole body seemed a little flat, bare of any kind of lump or bump, apart from her chest. Gaius had muscles in his chest also, but they were far less apparent than hers, and far more polygenic at that.

He scratched his head, a little bewildered yet wildly curious simultaneously. He was about to open his mouth in reply, until he noticed a hand clutch her shoulder, a hand of another human, a human he deduced as male. His face was strong, and observant, and he looked upon Gaius as if he originated from an enemy tribe. He towered over the female like a father to a child, and Gaius began to speculate. Perhaps this was a very important human; perhaps he was the person who had given birth to them all. He seemed the type, he was far taller than Gaius, and the newly acquainted female, and he towered over his Mankey counterparts. Yet, he seemed hostile, despite his grand stature and possible status, the male intimidated Gaius. Perhaps he wasn’t, surely Gaius had done nothing to anger him, had he?

The moment lingered, until the Primape leader chimed in from behind the human male, encouraging a docile manner in her children.

Giaus glanced back at his mother, who had engaged in discussion with various Shiftry while Nuzleaf played among the rocks. This whole situation was uncomfortable; he wanted to return to his family. Yet before he could turn and part, the female piped up, her voice roping him back with ease,

“"My names Naoko!" And with that, she leapt forward and wrapped her skinny arms around his body and squeezed weakly, as if she was making a poor attempt to suffocate him. Despite sensing a lack of hostility from the human female, Gaius’s immediate reaction was to escape, and he attempted to yank himself from her embrace.

“Wait, what are you doing? I don’t want no trouble!” He felt a wave of adrenaline soar through him as his body drew closer to hers, heart pumping madly. Was she going to try and eat him or something? It was rare for him to feel worried or intimidated, but this girl was strange, she was different. He didn’t know what to expect.

“I don’t think you should be doing this!” He said warningly, in an attempt to induce hesitance, and his dark eyes wandered cautiously to the towering male.

“I’m sorry, but now’s not a good time for you to be here…”

The new arrival stared a moment, as if unsure of how to respond to that. Her glazed blue eyes looked right at Ka as the face held no sign of emotion yet. Almost as if the girl was deciding on how exactly she should feel about the response.

A small grunt was heard as the flygon moved a bit, lifting his head and eyeing the three humans. He seemed just as distant in thought as the pink haired girl. Finally the young human female lowered her head a bit, seeming to decide on the best reaction she could. A frown on her face, a sad hurt frown.

"I understand. I didn't mean to offend anyone for being late." She said, her voice more childlike then what seemed normal. Finally she turned around, the wind catching and blowing her torn dress a bit before she made her way over the the flygon.

The dragon snorted giving a look towards Ka and Drake, as if angry at their reaction to the new arrival before he began to herd the girl off, towards the meeting place.

First impressions where everything it seemed, but it didn't matter now. Becoming their friend isn't as importent as what she has to do first.

She could always cry about it later...

Naoko never really knew what hit her, as she had attempted to show a sign of friendship, or what her clan had taught her to do. But it backfired greatly as she was sent to the ground, landing harshly on her rear.

Though Lock was paying attention for his sister, he had made eye contact with the new male and the two had not deverted their gaze yet. The older brother had a rather intimidating stance at first, his glare trying to over power the stranger.

But then the brother did something unexpected. He chuckled, a nice deep chuckle that showed he was actually amused.

"Its not funny. It hurt." Mumbled Naoko sniffling a bit.

Lock covered his mouth trying not to laugh before he stepped forward and tried to help his sister up. But was trying not to lose himself in laughter at the same time.

"I think he thought you were going to eat him, Naoko. Ha, he thought you were going to eat him..." Lock tried not to start laughing but a snort did escape. "Shows you that you can't just randomly grab onto someone, oh man... the look on your faces."

yeah, Lock was rather amused, though it didn't happen often.

The old primape listened to the laughter a bit, she knew it was Lock which meant that the adopted children must be getting along to a point. Even though she did hear a rather startled sound come from Naoko and the new boy. She had her head turned towards the three though she could not see them, wonder what was happening...

"Mother, someone's coming." Said a young male's voice as a mankey around the same age as the humans climbed onto her back. Though he was an adult he never really got over his childlike attitude, due to the fact humans take so long to grow up and he had to grow up with the two... he remained childlike much longer then expected.

Jenta grunted as she turned her eyes, spotting the old ninetales as she made her way over. The primape knew instantly that she had seen this fox before, but of course mingling among different species wasn't common... but when one gets as old as Jenta and even older like Kitsune, one tends to have to mingle a bit more.

“Lady Jenta,” Kitsune spoke as she returned her eyes to the Primape, “I, and my daughter Ka, have arrived.”

The primape moved into a sitting position, "I thought I would see you, wise one." even thought Jenta was up in age, she was no wear near as old as the nine tailed fox. "I knew a human would do well under your care, I am glad." the old ape looked over to where the two girls were and watched as a flygon, a creature more land dwellers feared, make his way over with a girl at his side.

"We can speak more tonight at sunset." The primape said as she waited for the flygon to draw near.

The dragon creature sat down a good distance, not wanting to draw to close to two pokemon with such experince. "I have brought our human child." He said, "And now I will go." standing the girl shot him a look of surprise.

"Your just going to leave?" she said, looking a bit crossed.

"I was told to bring you, nothing more." and with that, he fanned his wings and was easily air born, sending waves of wind flowing through the pokemon's fur.

Jenta sat rather startled at how the flygon had just abondoned his human here. Seemed the girl was just as confused and startled as she was. Looking around and eyes tearing up, she finally stopped and looked at the old fox and ape.

"I-I... I'm Niu."

"Eikia, huh? I like that name. Oh, and it's nice to meet you too!" Nana exclaimed, "I think we'll be good friends, don't you? Just knowing that you're a nice person makes me less nervous about this whole meeting thing," she tilted her head to the side, smiling brightly, "I hope the other humans are as nice as you are!"

The red haired girl was positively bursting with emotion, and she could feel the little guards she had up against getting hurt slowly slipping away. About time too, as being calm when it wasn't called for seemed quite foreign to her. She just hopped that her newfound friend was feeling a little less nervous now. What was it her mom always said? Something about power in numbers... It had something to do with friends, anyway, but she couldn't recall it right now. Not that it mattered much.

Behind her, back where she had left her herd behind to talk with Eikia, stood her mother. The old Donphan seemed to smile in her own way, glad that her adoptive daughter was making the effort to reach out to others despite her current worries. Instead of interrupting the two newly acquainted humans, she and the leader of the pack continued on. They noticed up ahead a place where other Pokemon, perhaps their own pack leaders or simply accomplices, were meeting with a Primeape that was, quite clearly, older than herself. Standing with her was another old one, this one being a Ninetales, and what looked to be another human recently dropped off. Taking care to approach them without appearing to be rude or demanding, the two Donphan bowed their heads respectfully. The mother, finding herself being unable to speak, left the leader of the pack to their announcement.

"We have arrived and dropped off our human, and await the meeting."

Feeling that there was little else to be said, the two Donphan left to join the rest of their pack, which were waiting further back in the ruins of the city.

Eikia smiled at Nana. "Yes, we will be good friends!" she said in that sort of enthusasticly hyper-ish way. She was feeling a bit silly, but also far more comfortable than before. "I am feeling much better as well. I would repeat exactly what you said, but that would be a bit redundant don't you think?" She grinned, feeling completely out of her comfort zone but still comfortable in some paradoxial way.

This was going to be interesting, but perhaps fun if all of the humans were as nice and friendly as Nana. She was fun. Eikia felt like asking a question or something, to break the ice (she found this ironic when she thought it), but didn't know what to say. She was afraid it would come out wrong, which was actually a bit likely from her. Well, her mother told her that it happened occasionally. It was a hard habit to get out of...

Meanwhile, the male Sneasel, Daru, who was apparently leading Eikia's travel group had walked off, to see what he was to do and what other herds had arrived. He wandered into the city to find a group of several species along with a few humans. It was slightly amusing to him how much they differed from Eikia, his dear friend.

Daru noticed a rather old looking, yet certainly high-ranking Primape in a group of other Pokémon. There were Donphan and a Ninetales, that he could tell right off the bat. Daru approached calmly and respectfully, and when he reached the Primape he tilted his neck slightly. It was a custom when approaching someone of a higher stature than yourself in his home troupe.

"I have brought the human from my tribe. She is not far from here. I will wait for the meeting to commence at sunset." Daru gave another bow, this one a bit lower, then strode off to find Eikia and the rest of the traveling brigade.

'Okay, I made a new friend... now what? I don't know if we should go meet other people, maybe they want to meet other people first? I don't really want to ask her lots of questions at once, I'd be like an annoying... interviewing person. An interviewer. I don't think friends do that, do they? We could talk about the weather, I bet that would be, uh, interesting. We could talk about the different habits of our own families. We could talk about that blade of grass right there. Gee, that blade of grass sure is... interesting... Yeah. What to do, what to do...'

Nana pondered this for a moment, pushing her golden bangs out of her face and tucking them behind her ears. Indecisiveness was the fall of conversation; but so were boring topics. If she didn't think of anything to ask about besides Eikia's favorite fruit and the weather, then she'd be out of luck. And she really didn't need the conversation dwindling into awkwardness. It'd just be, well, awkward. Then, suddenly, an idea came to her. It was almost miraculous, the way it just popped into her head. She supressed the urge to jump and squeal as she looked up excitedly.

"Oh, I know! We could play a game!" she spun around and grinned, as though her idea was absolutely amazing, "Can we play a game, can we? And it'll be fair this time 'cause you can't curl up and roll away from me! Well, not unless you really really wanted to," she paused to think about that for a moment, then continued, "What kind of games do you like to play? Do you have a running and catching game, and a hiding game? Or maybe a rock throwing game? How about games specific to your family? Or how about-!"

She suddenly stopped, realizing that she had been ranting without giving Eikia a chance to speak. She scratched the back of her head, smiling apologetically.

"Sorry..."

Yeah, I know, I suck. Still, after taking advice from my AC thread, and freewriting about the RPG, I managed to conjur something up ^^. Sorry it took so long though, Myuu, I've been terribly preoccupied - I have been planning to get a post up this Sunday all week, as thats when I can get my free time, so I have, for once. 'Kay, here it is:

Gaius looked down at the girl with cold eyes, then up at the male, who seemed rather amused by the situation. Gaius wasn’t. Was he ridiculing him?

He never asked for the welcome anyway, what was this person thinking? She didn’t know him and he didn’t know, or particularly like, her. His expression changed swiftly to a defiant snarl, and despite the male’s foreboding height, he began to hiss his words,

“Look, we know nothing about each other ok? You’re Primapes, and I’m a Shiftry, we’re not supposed to like each other so I see little need in socializing.” He averted his gaze back to his herd. He couldn’t handle this, not by himself, not with two of these people at once, what was he supposed to do? Throwing the girl to the ground was uncalled for and unintentional, but what could he do? He didn’t know them, she really could have been trying to eat him, for all he knew.

“Its ok for you guys, I guess, you two have the pleasure of one another’s presence every day – as for the rest of us, as for me, this is the first time I’ve laid eyes on another like me, and I like to take things slow, I like to size up the situation before I do anything. I’m not used to your customs, and you ‘aint used to mine, so lets just keep our distance, ‘kay?” He couldn’t help but feel intimidated by the towering male, but he had to get his point across in the only way he knew how to speak to total strangers.

He knew his mother would frown upon his actions, so he didn’t return, but instead paced towards a nearby rock, upon which he sat with a heaving sigh. He didn’t like this one bit; it was far too much all at once. As he observed from his rock, legs tucked up to his chest, he scowled at the other herds and humans and wondered why. Why did he have to meet all these strangers, why were they all over him and his personal space, welcoming him as if he was a new member to a new herd? He was a Shiftry, and his herd belonged in the forest, not on a Mountainside, not among other species.

A sickening affableness echoed across the whole mountainside, throughout every damn human he laid his eyes on. People were making friends; they were socializing as if their heritage returned with a sudden realization of their unique popularity among the various herds.

He felt eyes upon him from behind, possibly from the two people he’d just abandoned. He lowered his head into his legs, still staring outwards at the approaching herds.

..++..

Sorry bout your characters Myuu ^^; I suppose Gaius has't really done well for himself upon meeting up with Naoko and Lock, really >.>. Still, thats how I created him, thought I better stick with how I created him =P. Again, sorry it took so long.
