IMPERIAL DRAGON
Enemy Of Reality
Personally, I’m finding all this finger pointing totally counter productive to the discussion at hand; accusing others of racism isn’t ‘cool’ or ‘rad’, it’s just a boring inconvenience to read as it deviates from more pressing issues.
Take the general phobia of Islam, it may be an unpalatable truth but it is a genuine growing fear in modern society, the truly disturbing aspect is how it isn’t unfounded paranoia, but these days it’s damn near impossible to express such a concern without some bleeding heart cliché playing the race card. Simply commenting on the issue is taboo, never mind discussing it considering over sensitive liberals prey on the right-wing’s inability to highlight the level headed reasoning for concern. I’ll not bombard you with facts and figures, but I implore you to exercise your common sense and understand what people fear are extremist Muslims, the religious fundamentalists, not Muslims themselves. A vast majority of people wish to live in peace, regardless of creed, colour or religion, but as the real threat is terrorism, it’s completely rational to fear the extremists; that is precisely what inspires the over zealous reaction. You can’t blame ordinary people for that knee jerk fear of the unknown no more than normal Muslims can be held responsible for the behaviour of the extremists.
Some British people here may agree, but support for far right parties such as the BNP is growing, which is related to anxiety over extremist Muslims, but it’s raising concerns on a social level. The media has widely publicised the hysteria over so called complaints received from non Christian faiths, stating a dislike for the British flag which is basically setting light to so-called burnt out hostilities, as many British citizens feel their culture is being eroded by what they see as an invading force. It’s as though people already in fear of terrorism and extremist Muslims are being galvanised on a social level as they feel threatened by the local Muslim cultures, both the normal and radical sectors. I’m tempted to believe the media almost encourages hate mongering and segregation at times, but I find it slightly disturbing or coincidental that Western societies the world over are banning the burka, and I’d like to hear views from you guys on why this is happening; not purely the ban, but whether or not you people reckon the phobia of Islam is justified or just highlighting a general undertone of intolerance. Let’s do this properly and have an interesting discussion.
