battle frontier team

please give each of my pokemon a rating out of ten and why you gave it that:

Entei:
item: undecided
trait: pressure
Lax nature
Flamethrower
sunny day
bite
leer

suicune:
item: undecided
trait: pressure
lonely nature
surf
rain dance
ice beam
mirror coat

raikou
item: undecided
trait: pressure
sassy nature
thunder
spark
rain dance
reflect

please don't flame me. i already got flamed just because my regi's had the wrong nature.

these pokemon do really good actually, except for a chansey, shedinja, and a wobbuffet, they manage to beat everything.

even in the battle palace they do really well.

so, bring on the ratings!

rating the thread as a 5 because it is cool

ummm... who rated the thread? anyway could you people PLEASE rate the team, not the thread!

Entei is a tough Pokémon to work with, because its Stats are messed up and it has bad moves. If your Entei has some sort of Special-based Hidden Power, I'd use it. Sunny Day is rather useless, as it gives your foe a chance to attack while setting up. Plus, Entei has a good Sp. Attack and STAB off of Flamethrowe, so you'll be damaging most things a lot without the Sunny Day. Try Calm Mind, that way you can power up not just Flamethrower and so you don't die as quickly(Entei doesn't have good Defenses). Leer accomplishes nothing, really, because it will only affect on Pokémon, and once you defeat it, then it's wasted. If you can get Substitute, I strongly suggest using it over Bite. Bite's OK, but there are other Attacks that will work a lot more.

Lonely isn't really a good Nature for Suicune, because its Attack Stat is low and you're not using a Physical Attack anyway. There's nothing you can do about it, though, so moving on:

Suicune is a lot more durable than Entei, but Rain Dance still isn't the greatest idea. Calm Mind works excellently on Suicune, because it already is difficult to defeat, and Calm Mind just makes it more so. Suicune has decent Sp. Attack, but a couple of Calm Minds will really help it out. Mirror Coat isn't all that good, because Suicune doesn't take much damage from Special Attacks, so you'll probably do more damage with Surf or Ice Beam. Rest is good for Suicune, because it can survive two turns of helplessness and it keeps it from fainting. Leftovers is the ideal Item for Suicune, because, just like the rest of its movespread, it prevents it from being defeated. Don't use a Chesto Berry, because it only works once and then disappears. Leftovers works no matter what, and that's what's so cool about them.

Raikou also needs Calm Mind(I dunno if you'll be able to get all these Calm Mind TMs, though...). Reflect is a good move, and if you can't get the recommended set for Raikou, then you should keep it. But, if you can get a third Calm Mind, then use that over Reflect. Rain Dance is the same as the first two, and if you think about it, over two turns, Thunderbolt will do more damage than Thunder will. Attacking twice with 95 power means 190 damage, whereas with Thunder you'll only get 120 because you spent the first turn with Rain Dance. Also, Thunderbolt won't miss unless your accuracy is lowered, so you don't have to Rain Dance every five turns. Spark is useless because it basically does what Thunderbolt or Thunder will, but with less damage. Substitute will help more.

I expect you won't be able to get all those Calm Minds, and probably not both of those Substitutes. Entei needs Calm Mind most, because its unboosted Special Attacks won't do a whole lot, so if you only have one, use it on Entei. If you have two, use the second on Suicune. If you don't have a third one, use Raikou's Crunch instead of Calm Mind. Raikou already has excellent Special Attack, so you'll still do a fair amount of damage without Calm Mind.

With Substitute, Entei also needs it more than Raikou. If you already have Crunch instead of Calm Mind on Raikou and can't get a second Substitute, keep Reflect. Raikou only has one weakness, so any non-Ground attack won't do much after a Reflect. Reflect also helps Entei if you're forced to switch, willingly or unwillingly. However, if you had a third Calm Mind and used it on Raikou, then use Crunch instead of Reflect, because it will help more in the long run, and you won't be as vulnerable against Ghosts and Psychics.

Overall, this is a decent team, not the best, not the worst. I'd give it a 7/10.

(I dunno if you'll be able to get all these Calm Mind TMs, though...)

all three dogs learn CM at level 71, so if you go for the open level/lv 100 BF you wont need the TMs

okay thanks. i'll try to level them up to 81 for calm mind. maybe i could get some EV training while i'm at it. i don't know about substitute, though... i don't wan't to waste the move tutor. maybe if I gave it leftovers that could help? suicune generally gets rid of everything, and things that it can't, raikou gets rid of. i don't really use entei that much.

Well, Entei isn't that useful to begin with, anyway, but since this is a Theme Team I won't suggest a replacement.

Yeah, I think there are better uses for the Substitute Move Tutor than on the Dogs.

I thought they were gerbils >>
Anyways.
Entei 5/10
Leer is horrible and you could replace sunny day & bit with better things

Suicuine 8/10
Surf and ice beam are pretty standar attacks, and I have personally used mirror coat with some success. Indeed suicune is the best candidate for leftovers.
Lowered the rate because Entei has sunny day, leaving him out of the team
Raikou 7/10
Repeated type attacks and both could be replaced with thunderbolt

Overall: 6.6
I fought some rounds in the battle tower with a similar team, and I have to point a few things.
Rain dance: helps suicune and raikou and potentially harms entei and suicune, also powers up swift swimmers.
rain + stabbed surf of suicune hurts and it will undoubtly defeat entei. Will suicine withstand a thunder and return it with mirror coat?
Earthquake: its a OHKO on entei and raikou, while suicune is neutral to it. I suppose reflect is to avoid that and thats why you chosed Raikou to use it since he is fast. Beware of thunderwave

i'm thinking about replacing entei with chansey/blissey. it's going to be breeded and know:

seismic toss-move tutor
heal bell-egg move from skitty
substitute- chain breed from keckleon-skitty to skitty-chansey.
softboiled-level up move

so i'm going to be doing a lot of breeding and EV training. i know i'm hoping for alot but the results should be rewarding, right? also, does it take alot to evolve it? how much happiness does it need?

There's no need for subsitute, and aeromatherapy>Heal bell. You shouldn't have much trouble evolving it, just don't let it faint or give it bitter medicine.

Instead of Substitute, Ice Beam or Thunder Wave will work. Ice Beam to hit Ghost Types that Seismic Toss won't, or THunder Wave for overall usefulness.

Toxic blissey works to an extent in-game

~*Myuu the Ryuu*~

The epitome of grace
well, there was this blissey in the battle factory that had substitute, and i won the round using that, so i thought it would be useful.

CB: but doesn't it have poor special attack? i'm thinking about replacing spark on raikou with crunch. any suggestions about that?

more suggestions that don't involve my precious one-off TM's *hugs TM's*
